Default Private Practice Room

With the growing interest in learning how to cast various defensive spells outside of class time, Professor Hirsch has sectioned off another room just for this practice. A room not linked with any sort of class spells going on and a more guarded room than some of the others, save for his own office, of course.

This well lit, circular room is scarce of anything remotely normal for a normal classroom: meaning that you won't find any desks or chairs here. Instead, the room has been split up into a number of different sections where you can practice in the peace and privacy that the Dueling Arena doesn't provide. Want to practice in groups? The sections can expand to fit however many people you want to practice with. A number of dummies - surprised? - sits towards the back of the room, ready for you to practice your spells on. These could take the form of whatever you need it to be but be warned: they will NOT have the same effect. A dementor!dummy won't suck out your soul.

From time to time, Hirsch will hold practices in here in small groups outside of class hours. If you'd like to join in, you're more than welcome to. If not, be polite and try not to disturb anyone else practising in here. If you want to practice on your own here, you're welcome to do so. Just make sure to fix anything you break, okay?

OOC: Sooo this thread is a thread in which Hirsch/I will be holding out-of-class classes for those wishing to learn something extra. This room is free for people to RP around in if they wanted to do some practice in a more private environment ^^

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

Daisy thought about an answer to Emmalyn's question and then came up with an idea. "I am going to use the Locomotion Charm to move one of the dummies towards you and you try slowing them down. Ready?"

Daisy raised her wand at one of the dummies and said, "Locomotor dummy!" Within a few seconds, the dummy slowly glided towards Emmalyn.

"That sounds like a great plan." She readied herself for Daisy to cast the spell and send the dummy moving. Her left hand gripped tightly on her wand and the spell rolled over and over in her mind, picturing the dummy stopping.

Once Daisy had cast the spell, the dummy came at her much faster than she had imagined. She paused, only for a moment, before refocusing and commanding "Arresto Momentum!" Her wand moved smoothly through the spells motion and a sudden wave of power pulsed through the tip. She hadn't realized her eyes were closed until she cracked one open to see if the spell had worked. "Did it work?"

Daisy watched as Emmalyn cast the Arresto Momentum spell, smiling inwardly when she realised that her friend had her eyes closed. The dummy had slowed down to a stop much to the older Hufflepuff's delight.

When Emmalyn opened one of her eyes and asked if the spell had done its job, Daisy nodded. "It has worked! Well done!"

It worked? She heard the words Daisy said, but wasn't sure she believed them. She fully opened her eyes and saw that the dummy had stopped moving. The spell had worked. "Oh, that's fantastic." With a proud look on her face, she started walking over to where Daisy was standing.

"Thanks so much for helping me. I feel much more confident now." She gave her wand a little twirl and put it in her robe pocket. "I think I'm finished for the day. All of this stress and practicing has made me rather tired." She yawned just thinking about how exhausted she was. "Want to walk back to the Hufflepuff dorms with me?"

Daisy beamed at Emmalyn, feeling very proud of her efforts. "You're welcome, dear. I'm glad to have helped. I think I'll walk back to the Hufflepuff dorms with you." With that she placed her wand in her pocket and started to head out of the room.
