| | Balcony The balcony located on the fourth floor is one of the few balconies in the castle. In an opening along the corridor, on the opposite side of the castle from the library, is where you can find this particular balcony. If you ever need a break from doing that lengthy Arithmancy homework or need a place to relax with a friend, this balcony is a great place to get a few minutes of fresh air before getting back to work again.
You will notice that you are approaching the balcony when you can feel a slight change in temperature. During the autumn and spring seasons, the breezes that come through this opening are inviting. The winter months, however, bring forth a chill, even with the nearby torches being lit. No matter the temperature, the fourth-floor balcony always provides some of the most breathtaking sights of the grounds below and mountains beyond as well as a clear view of the Whomping Willow in all of her glory. Keep note that it does get a little wet here when it rains, so make sure you conjure an umbrella.

| For Colley. <3 The Kisapaths | Sila!Roti | -2 | TouchableHair | ToiletPaperGuy | QueenOfConfusion Cameron was sitting out on the balcony, yes, sitting on the ground. He'd spent the last fifteen minutes or looking out at the scenery but now it was time to actually get some work done. While he could still do that outside. It was starting to get quite cold already but so far it was still alright.
With one or two heating charms in place that is.
His textbook propped up against his thighs, he was busy scribbling little notes here and there, marking passages that seemed relevant to this year's curriculum. Maybe he should have brought more than just one textbook. This seemed like such a good spot to study but he was worried that if he vacated it to go back downstairs, someone else would take it.
Oh well, so far he was nowhere near finished with this book anyway. |

"This won't mess with your schedule, will it? And you have OWLs..." Those would certainly come first, and Skylar was a very hard worker so everything should be okay, but she really didn't want to cause any problems with this. All she needed to know was that everything would be handled okay and there would be no bad effects on her school work - or sleep.
The hug was slightly surprising, though Rosalyn didn't show that; she definitely appreciated the gesture and had no problem with hugging. "Thank you," she said as she returned the gesture. "I really appreciate that." And it made her happy to know how much she liked Gaston especially seeing as he sometimes felt that he wasn't very much liked at Hogwarts. Of course it was Rose Newton's Marchand's duty to worry about her with her classes and she was sure that the woman knew just how much she had on her schedule, but it was only the beginning of October and she had to remind herself she had MONTHS to study and she'd already been studying and preparing for equally as many months. "Of course not." Lies, somewhat. "I'll keep it low-key, promise." She wouldn't lie about that much at least. "Anyway, I should get going. Thank you again, and sorry ..." for you know, being mad about something so foolish like not knowing / forgetting about the marriage. |

She really would be a pretty bad teacher if she added more to a student's plate and allowed her studies to fall by the wayside. Just so long as Skylar wasn't going to make things HUGE everything should be okay. Besides, she didn't WANT huge in the first place. Not after what had happened the last time... The smaller the better in her opinion. "Wonderful! Well, I can't wait to see what you come up for this." Her and anyone else that wanted to help out with the party. Looked like there was going to be a lot of excitement coming up between that and the play that they were putting together. "Oh, right. Of course." Rosalyn would not keep Skylar waiting if she needed to go. "You don't need to apologise. I suppose that this news really could be a shock." While she hadn't expected any feelings to be hurt, she knew that emotions were funny things; she herself could be rather sensitive at times; everyone could. "I will see you soon and have a good rest of your day!"
Smile on her face, she walked off with her small pile of books. |

Though he supposed it was the will behind the magic that made it fully dark or light, but that was a thought for another time. "Very well, I shall talk to him then. " He said as he leaned back on the bannister again, he wasn't fully relaxed but at least he had a bit of a grip on things now.
He folded his arms in thought, and tilted his head a bit as he thought about the books he had in the restricted section. "So a book that will help you with Necromancy? Or a book on making the undead look less undead? " He needed specifics, because as horrifying as it was, he had a few books in there that might actually help. "Or just a general one? " He asked as he rubbed the side of his head. She wasn't worried about his need to fact check. If nothing else, she was happy to know the man wasn't taking things at face value. It was an unhealthy practice, one many around the school seemed to prefer.
She shook her head as his questions went on. "Not necessarily one on necromancy, I've already got that covered and plan to ask Professor Hirsch should anything become a little too hazy for my to figure out." The study of the living dead wasn't the part that stumped her. "I just want them looking less undead, whatever potions might be useful, or spells--but I'd prefer potions. I find they tend to have more lasting effects in general." If the spell wore off and they went back to normal, the Ravenclaw would be proper disappointed. "And maybe one with varying theories on the living dead. Expectations. Observations. Things that could contribute to the study."
Although....perhaps Professor Hirsch already had some of those too. He did say he'd done a bit of his own studying into the topic. It was entirely possible he had a bunch of findings sitting around somewhere.
Huh. Maybe she'd ask him.

Huh. Maybe she'd ask him. What was his life right now? Sitting on the Balcony discussing undead animals with a fourth year. His head tilted a little as she spoke about what he needed and he closed his eyes in thought for a moment, a finger coming up to rest on his temple as he did some mental shuffling through the library. ”We have a few books that deal with Necromancy in the restricted section, and I’m sure we have some on potions and spells for the undead.. “ In fact he knew they did for he had found the book over the summer and brought it back to put there, just in case River decided to meddle in stronger potions..
Or the dark arts?
Either way, he had it.. ”I think I have something like that in the restricted section as well.. we should go have a look and see what we can find that would help you out. “ He said with a nod. |

Oh well, so far he was nowhere near finished with this book anyway. It seemed like they had already been back to school for a full term, in Xavvie's opinion. Maybe it was the homework she had or maybe she was just still getting used to the routine but for some reason, it was more difficult this term to buckle down and concentrate. So therefore, she had decided to take a slow, leisurely walk up to the library to return a few books. It was always a good idea to have a stroll when she was feeling a little unfocused.
On her way, though, she spotted someone she knew! Even better! "Cam." She grinned and moved closer to him, "Hi." Hellooooo, friend! |

Cameron looked up from his book, quill in hand, wondering how to get rid of whoever it was that had spotted him. Until he saw WHO it was. Okay, never mind. He actually liked Xavvie. She was allowed to stay. "Hi." Smiling he set down his quill, looking up at her. "What are you doing out here?" |

Xavvie noted that Cam seemed a bit put off when she first called out his name and she was worried that maybe she had interrupted some important studying or last minute homework situation. But then he looked up at her and smiled and she felt much better. "I was dropping off a library book and I spotted you." She leaned against the balcony and looked out at the view. "I love looking out from the high floors." It was quite a change from the Slytherin common room where the only thing they could see was the lake.
She looked back to her friend and nodded at the spot next to him, asking silently if he would mind if she sat with him, "I'm not interrupting, am I?" |

That's what she wanted, to be outside some cause EVERYONE was inside, and practice her ballet. There had been no time for it with classes and eating and sleeping AND all these new friends she had, except right after dinner. Davie, her kitten, was in the corner not paying her any attention except when she didn't ask for it, and the radio sitting on the balcony was turned on, playing out soft music. Emma herself was wearing sweats since it WAS cold (but they had sparkles that liked to gleam off the bits of snow and night light) and moving easily through her old routine, oblivious to everyone else passing by.

Coming out of the library with a few books tucked under his arm, Derf began the somewhat loooooooooooooooong journey back down towards his own common room when something caught his eye. Or someONE, rather. Weaving through the small crowd of people coming and going in the corridor, Derf peeked his head out to watch as Emma went about her routine. He was trying to be SUPER quiet so as not to disrupt her, but he soon found himself swaying a little to the music.
Maybe a little TOO much swaying since on misstep caused him to drop his books to the ground with a dull thud.
