The Journey

Their journey began an unfortunate way,
as the three took flight, Bill and Fleur’s wedding day,
To escape those seeking to catch them there,
and return them unharmed back to Slytherin’s heir.

At Tottenham Court Road they appeared in the street,
just avoiding a red bus from crushing their feet.
Then they changed into new clothes in a tiny café,
but were quickly discovered and again got away.

This time they appeared outside 12 Grimmauld Place
and then quickly got in, well aware of the chase.
To plan for their quest now their number one chore,
even though they knew not what they were looking for.

Two Horcruxes down, a book and a ring,
but the rest could be just about any ole thing.
A locket believed to be piece number three,
was now in possession of one R.A.B.

With Kreacher’s assistance they discovered the name,
and that Regulus Black and R.A.B. were the same.
But the locket was stolen by Umbridge, and now,
they’ll break into the Ministry to regain it somehow.

After stealing it back and then “flushing” away,
the three kids reappeared on the steps, but soon they
realized that there new hiding place had been eyed,
so Hermione whisked them all to the far countryside.

With the locket in hand, a new camp every night,
but the Horcrux was causing the trio to fight.
Eventually Ron said he’d taken enough,
so he left both the others, disappeared in a huff.

With the trio now two, thinking there was no chance,
they sadly moved on, shared a tear, and a dance.
The fact that Ron left was a hard pill to swallow,
got attacked by Nagini and escaped Godric’s Hollow.

Then Ron reappeared as he followed a doe,
jumped into the pond and saved Harry below.
Now the two were so happy to see Ron that he,
used Gryffindor’s sword to destroy number three.

“How did you come back?” asked the curious two,
“it was weird, my Deluminator led me to you.”
Then they next found themselves in the Lovegood’s front yard,
to discover the secrets of Beddle the Bard.

But since Luna’d been taken, they learned it a trick,
and they only escaped ‘cause Hermione was quick.
The Hallows became Harry’s obsessive need,
and without his leadership, Ron took the lead

A broadcast from Potterwatch, they all held their breath,
and showed him there’s more than just “Master of Death.”
So they doubled their efforts, more Horcruxes sought,
but before Ron had warned them, they erred and got caught.

At Malfoy’s they learned where a Horcrux was hid,
deep in Gringott’s no chance to escape, but they did.
On a dragon’s back into the open they flew,
with the cup, a few burns and a giggle or two.

“It’s at Hogwarts,” said Harry, a vision he saw,
and he felt that it’s hidden in Ravenclaw.
Almost caught be Death Eaters, slipped into Hog’s Head,
and they entered through a secret tunnel instead.

Once inside they asked everyone to search all around,
but the Room of Requirement was the place it was found.
A tiara on top of a bust of a squire,
in the end it was melted by Goyle’s feindfyre.

Five Horcruxes down and the battle begun,
but they still had to figure how to kill the last one.
As he went to meet Voldemort, he told Neville instead,
to use Gryffindor’s sword to cut off the snake’s head.

At the close the snitch opened and gave him the ring,
and it proved that the Hallows were indeed the real thing.
Then deep in the woods they stood still, face to face,
Harry knew that this time was the end of the chase.

With his eyes closed he stood there with anticipation,
but the next moment he was inside Kings Cross Station.
Not dead or alive, but in limbo it seemed,
“if you go back you’ll finish him,” Dumbledore beamed.

In the end it was Voldemort who cast the spell,
but the killing curse backfired and Tom Riddle fell.
For the three, it meant no longer being on the run,
they lived happy thereafter, thanks to the Chosen One.

Oh. my. god!!! That was just, beautiful, fantastic, wonderful, superb, genius... I'm out of words. I absolutely loved every bit of it. The fact that you managed to make it so long and add every bit of significant detail in there without losing the rhyming pattern is a great success.

So where to begin? I can't quote any favorites since I'd have to mention the entire poem. But I'll mention some that got stuck in my mind...

Epic ending:

I know it would be foolish to say "wow, its been a really long time since I posted".......so I won't say it........but it has.......lol

so without further ado.....

I haven't written about this character and so I felt it was long overdue, one of my favorite characters that JK chose to put in the stories.....enjoy.....

At three foot high with bat-like ears
Dressed in a pillow case
Two tennis ball-like eyes of green
Engulfed his tiny face

A slave by birth, this tiny elf
To serve his wizard’s need
Mistreated and abused until
Through Harry’s sock, he’s freed

A free elf now, he does his best,
Keep Harry safe from harm
But manages to hex a bludger
In to his right arm

When offered galleons and days off
As Hogwarts staff, he said
“I beat him down to one a week”
“I likes to work, instead”

Time and time he’d come again
To render help and please
Return Mundungus or provide
A room that no one sees

His heart was true, effort well meant
The purpose for his life
Until it all was swept away
By Bellatrix’s knife

“A beautiful place it is to be,
With friends” his final words
Above Shell Cottage lies the elf
A guest of Bill and Fluer’s

No truer friend hath Harry had
Not worried bout himself
Keep safe the “Chosen One” for all
Just Dobby, “A free elf”

And the Dobby poem. *le sigh* It's so cute and beautiful and touching ... <3 RIP Dobby <3
