Harry Potter (2nd year)


As the Durselys entertain, try to flaunt their wealth
You’re told to stay quiet and behave yourself
When a noise crashes down like a broken bookshelf
You arrive to room, find a bounding House elf

“I’m Dobby,” he says, as he laughs and snorts
With a pillowcase shirt and a rag for his shorts
And he punishes himself each time he retorts
“Harry Potter must not go back to Hogwarts”

But off to the station, you mustn’t be late
You throw off his warning to the hands of fate
Platform 9 and ¾, you look and you wait
But when the coast is clear, you slam into the gate

“Now what do we do?” asks your friend, the redhead
You answer, “if we miss the train, then we’re dead,”
“Wait a minute, I know how we’ll get there,” he said
“Take my dad’s magical flying car, instead.”

So finally you get there after your wild ride
Get thrashed by a willow, where you both almost died
Get yelled at by Snape, from whom you try to hide
Then suddenly some students turn up petrified

The Chamber of Secrets’ been opened, it appears
Revealing its monster that everyone fears
You begin to hear voices that no one else hears
And it’s happened before, but it’s been fifty years

You fall into a dream that is Tom’s memory
“Jus foller the spiders, fer the answers,” says he
Aragog tells you the monster’s another and not he
“Its a Basilisk in the pipes,” says Hermione

To the Chamber of Secrets both you and Ron go
With that good looking idiot Lockhart in tow
To return Ginnys’s body alive from below
With the faith of the greatest wizard the world will know

The second year ends so much like your first
A bit battered and bruised but yet, none the worst
The Dark Lord’s new attempt at return is reversed
And, you’re beginning to feel that your scar’s really cursed

ha ha thats amazing!!! how long does it take you to write these sort of poems?

well I usually don't write until I get the general idea sorted out in my head (I used to do all my math equations in my head too....) then I start putting it all down and then tweek it a bit until it both makes sense as a story and rhymes. This last one took about an hour of actual work.....

I loved that line. *giggles*

I can't believe you can get that stuff to rhyme AND make sense. It amazes me.

Thanks Kris, it just seems to come to me, I go weeks without thinking of anything and then it all just sort of comes together at once......

Once again, an outstanding poem!! Great stuff, great stuff... and only an hour?? It would take me several hours, if not days, to come up with a whole story and actually tweak it to have them rhyme! Not just that, to summarize the whole story in *counts* NINE stanzas! Amazing...

Wow, has it been over a month......sorry I've been a bit distracted, but here's the next installment which is the 3rd year (PoA) of the series.....enjoy




Harry Potter (3rd year)

You tried to be patient, knowing there’d come a day
You’d return to Hogwarts and more Quidditch you’d play
Then you lost your temper and you didn’t obey
So you blew up Aunt Marge and then you ran away

You ran out the door without saying goodbye
Knowing no one would miss you, no tears would they cry
As a black dog approached, you raised your wand to the sky
In a purple explosion came a bus three stories high

The Knight Bus speeds off and you’re squashed to the back
You’re amazed as the obstacles all clear from its track
And intrigued as Stan reads of a horrible attack
By the Azkaban escapee known as Sirius Black

With Hermione and Ron on the Hogwarts Express train
You head off to your school but get stopped in the rain
A Dementor appears, as you faint, you feel pain
Like you’ll never feel happiness ever again

RJ Lupin’s the Professor for Defense of Dark Arts
Teaching spells for Dementors and to laugh at Boggarts
But, the mystery’s a secret held deep in his heart
As to why for four days a month he quietly departs

To sneak into Hogsmeade an impossible feat
Except for the those “no-gooders” you chance to meet
“A bit of old parchment” is what you call this sheet?
But it shows every hallway, professor and street

Ron’s attacked by the dog as the three of you fled
In the Shrieking shack you sneak, hear his cries up ahead
It’s a trap, for the dog is that “Black” man instead
And he’s back to kill Petigrew who, it turns out, isn’t dead

“Live with you?” He says yes, and the happiness it brings
Til the moment clouds clear, the full moon changes things
You’re both trapped near the lake, until something else sings
And then saved moments later by a Hippogriff’s wings

Then that feeling returns as it freezes the dew
A hundred dark Dementors attacking you two
“any moment my Dad appears, right there” you knew
But the Time-turner showed that your father was you

You feel anxious and sorrow as your Godfather takes flight
But take comfort in knowing what you both did was right
The bell chimes bring you back as he fades from your sight
You return just in time at the stroke of midnight
