Wow. You just blew me away, Spots. That was awesome!!!

I just have one request- to make it a little easier to read, could you put them in paragraphs? (Or, put a break in between the paragraphs).

This was just so amazing. I don't know what else to say

thanks, Kris, I had a lot of time to write lately....there's plenty more, thank you for the suggestion about splitting it up I also changed the color on the poems to highlight them, I'm hoping that when it's done the poems alone might tell the story as well.....

thanks everyone....here's the next part

Remus didn't know how to express his joy and distress at attending Hogwarts. What if someone found out, what if he didn't make it to the house that was arranged for in time. Would he be expelled, would he curse someone else, leaving them with the scars he carried. He was too excited to worry for now though, he was off to London.

London was the biggest town Remus had ever seen, Diagon Alley, in a hidden part of the town, was full of every shop imaginable to an eleven year old. The sounds and smells were intoxicating to one who lived in the country. It seemed to take forever for them to get all of his supplies but it was mainly due to the fact that Remus had to stop at every window and peer inside to see what was for sale. After eating lunch and visiting the wand shop, they had completed their list and returned to the countryside to prepare for the school year.

The day for the departure to school had arrived and Remus's parents dropped him off at the Hogwarts Express, the train designated to take students to the school, it left from platform nine and three quarters at Kings Cross station. Remus didn't know any of the other students he saw on the train. Coming from a remote country area, he felt it was good, since that meant no one would know of his secret. He found a carriage with some other new students or "first years" as he found they were to be called and they rode together talking about the usual subjects that occupy eleven year olds.

Aside from the hidden scars that Remus carried within him, which were safely subdued since the full moon had just passed, he looked and acted like the rest. The clackity-clack of the wheels and the rhythmic swaying of the carriage had them all asleep before long. As the train slowed, they awoke to the whispers of anticipation. "Wow, look at that castle up there, oooh it looks creepy, how are we getting up there….

As usual, the students were sorted into houses upon their arrival, this meant being placed within one of four groups that would act like a their family while at school. Each house had certain traits that made its member unique and formed the core of their education while spending seven years together. Remus attended his classes and kept mostly to himself his first year and true to his word, the Headmaster made sure that he made passage to the house on the hill in the nearby town of Hogsmeade.

To avoid detection and therefore arise suspicion, a tunnel was dug under the walls of the school and straight to the basement of the house. A large tree know as the Whomping Willow was place over the school side entrance of the tunnel and the staff and Remus where instructed on how to get past it without being injured. The inside of the house was simple and provided a bed and rough furniture for him while he transformed. Although the nurse, with help from the Potions Master, provided a potion to ease the effects of the transformation, he still went through horrible pains as it occurred. The curse tears at the very soul it occupies, the skin, bones, nerves all protest being forced to change shape. The urge to chase and bite grew heavy on him as a wolf.

The home provided a barrier for the chasing, it didn't however, calm his other urge. He bit himself repeatedly to take care of that. People in the nearby town had felt for years that the abandon "shack" was haunted and the screams and howls of Remus's self mutilation didn't detract from it. Neither did the staff and the Headmaster give the truthful explanation of what the sounds were that emanated from within.

To bite and chew, to gnaw on bone, to kill was his desire,
The urge to pass along the curse, burned deep in him, as fire.
The pain he felt in transformation, was more than one should bare,
The potions master and the nurse would take him in their care.

The Shrieking Shack provided a safe place to hide within,
As long as he arrived before the transformation would begin.
A tree would guard the entrance to the tunnel down below,
To fight off unwelcome visitors, known as the Whomping Willow.

By the second and third year, Remus had begun to make some friends. Two of his closest were a pair of boys who most thought were the smartest wizards to come to the school in ages. James Potter and Sirius Black were gaining quite a reputation when they came upon Remus. Both boys were very talented in the wizard arts, Potter an excellent Quidditch player to boot.

Even now, Remus is not sure why the two took him in so easily. "It just seemed natural," he suggests to himself today.

They didn't ask a lot of questions about where he came from and he didn't try and stop the two pranksters from showing off in front of the girls. The trio was starting to do everything together. You couldn't find one on the grounds without the other two. They changed their class schedules so each could be with the other. The staff and other students were noticing the closeness these three had and were jealous.

One of these was a small portly boy named Peter. Peter had been sort of an outcast due to his size. He was short, round and sort of ugly. He had been teased throughout his early years. Peter must have felt that if he got in with these three, the teasing would stop. He knew that being considered a friend of James, Sirius and Remus would provide enough protection from all the bullies. Heck, he might even learn a thing or two.

As time passed the group who now numbered four could be seen out on the grounds practicing spells and teasing the younger students. Peter would always have the most trouble learning anything new. In fact it usually took multiple hexings from James or Sirius with the spell they were learning before Peter would find out how to do it just to prevent himself from being hexed again.

Several months passed without much change at the school but outside the school in the Wizarding world, everything was changing. The forces of evil were growing and people were being recruited to follow. Those who refused were either cursed severely or killed. The leader of the evil force was alleged to be a former student whose name was Tom Riddle. He hated his muggle upbringing enough that he changed his name to Lord Voldemort.

Voldemort's name was so feared as he grew in strength that most people would only call him "he-who-must-not-be-named." His belief was that there wasn't really two sides of good and evil only power and those who knew how to use it. He would draw his numbers from those willing to sacrifice everything to serve, their rewards would be his appreciation and increased trust. To gain his confidence and enter his inner circle known as the Death Eaters, was considered the highest achievement possible.

As days went by and studies passed, some new friends came along,
One great at playing Quidditch, the other tall and strong.
The three would be inseparable, never one without the two,
Their antics were stuff of legend, and the mischief they would do.

Made the three the envy of their peers, to join them some would try,
The only one successful though, a portly misfit guy.
The worst of them at Magic, Peter tried hard to be their friend,
Little did they know their future, how his trust would be their end.

thanks everyone......more

On campus, life didn’t seem to be to effected by the going ons in the outside world. Exams came and went. Relationships were developed, some lasted….some didn’t. And with the four of them it was the same. Although no one would ever see Peter in a relationship, it was quite different with the others. Their popularity with girls was the stuff legends were made of…just ask them.

“Ha,” Remus laughed out loud at remembering that thought.

But they did have their share of girlfriends. Both James and Sirius seemed quite occupied in their last two years at Hogwarts with competing to see who could gain the confidences of certain girls. Most of the time it meant strutting and flexing near them like a bunch of love starved roosters and to the girls it seemed nothing more than a bother or distraction while trying to relax between exams or studying.

Potter even had a special way of messing up his hair whenever prospective clients would appear, in the same manner a peacock would display its tail feathers when near females. Rarely was this successful at gaining anything more than a playful giggle or a punch in the arm from Sirius. Each had zeroed in on a special girl by their last year at Hogwarts. For Sirius it was Arlene Lancaster, for James, Lily Evans and for Remus, Susanna Armstead.

Remus smiles at remembering her and the wonderful times they spent in each other’s company.

Of the three, though, only James and Lily carried on beyond school. Susanna’s family moved away before she finished school and Arlene couldn’t handle Sirius’s family background even though he didn’t follow in their footsteps.

As Peacocks dance and strut their stuff to display their greens and blues,
The girls would laugh and stare and blush at what those boys would do.
Each found a mate, they thought for life but fate would make the rules,
For James and Lily were the only ones to remain beyond the school

Sirius’ family tree was deeply rooted in the darkness and evilness of the wizarding world. His parents, aunts, uncles and cousins all took their respective places as they came of age to battle for evil and the preservation of their pureblood heritage.

Salizar Slytherin was a powerful wizard of his age and one of the founders of the Hogwarts School to teach young wizards. But he was also the main component behind the perpetuation of the “pureblood only” philosophy. He even tried to split the school once when the other founders felt that non-pureblooded students should be allowed to attend and learn of their world. He swore that his heir would rise and continue his struggle to cleanse the wizard world of half-bloods and “mud-bloods.”

No one knew exactly how much credence to put to his threat but there was a growing faction of wizards amongst their community who were following Slytherin’s philosophy. The rising leader within this sect was a former student himself known as Tom Riddle but his followers knew him as Lord Voldemort.

Students, after leaving Hogwarts while trying to carry on “normal” lives were split into two forces, those who followed the uprising and Voldemort, and those who didn’t. Remus, Sirius and James joined a group of wizards who had the same mindset of trying to battle Voldemort’s forces feeling that all should be welcome. Peter joined too but…..alas….his intentions were not exactly the same as the others.

To be pure blood, a blessed thing, his one and only thought,
Of those who weren’t, a lesser being, against them they have fought.
He rose to take the mantle, rid the world of those unpure,
Using tactics of the evilest, even death, would be his cure.

to be continue.....

Oh Eric, I want to hug you and all that...Your poems are so wonderful. I thought you were just in cheerleading but I'm glad you're not. I just loved Remus's eulogy for Sirius, especially this line:

James, Peter and dear Sirius, are the reasons that I live,
And that is why no one but I, this eulogy, can give.

You are so talented.

Voldemort’s power and following continued to grow. He pursued his philosophy and destroyed all who stood in his way. James and Lily were married and in trying to avoid the dangers of the battle moved to the small community of Godric’s Hollow, named after another of the founders of Hogwarts, Godric Gryffindor. The two joined a clandestine group of wizards who were charged to fight back against the uprising. They called themselves The Order of the Phoenix.

As members of an organization of wizards trying to defend against them, they were constant targets of the Death Eaters. Just by virtue of being a mudblood, Lily was a “prize” to be had for any DE that could carry out Voldemort’s orders that all non-pure-blood wizards be killed. And if James was taken too, “well he deserved it for marrying her,” would’ve been their response.

This went on for several years with James, Lily, Remus, Sirius, Peter and the others recruiting new members while keeping their own identity secret. Each new graduating class of students were screened for security purposes to make sure that they shared the beliefs of the Order and were not spies for Voldemort. It was long felt that he would or may already have infiltrated their ranks. Several Order members had been killed in suspicious circumstance that only a mole could have revealed.

For James and Lily life was no different, on three different occasions they escaped death barely at the hand of Death Eaters. But those were the bad times…..the good times came in the at the end of July when Lily gave birth to the couples’ first child. Harry James Potter, named after Lily’s father and James, was born in the town’s small hospital with little fanfare.

Remus laughs as he remembers James pacing the halls and Sirius mocking him behind his back.

The parents went through the typical frustrations and joy of a newborn. The visitors, the family, the sleepless nights, and all the firsts. I wasn’t too difficult to raise a family while within the Order but there were risks. The major one came while Harry was turning 2 years old.

Each year they took new members, in the Order, ranks would grow,
With prospective students screened on merit and the talents they could show.
The members for the evil side grew just a fast as theirs,
Covertly spying and killing, cursing, sometimes just as dares.

Unknown to many in another part of the country, the town of Hogsmeade in fact, a meeting was taking place. The interview, as it was more formally called, was between the current Headmaster of Hogwarts and a perspective Professor. The professor was applying for the position of Divination Instructor and the Headmaster was a little skeptical about the whole subject of “fortune telling” being taught at his school. But during this particular meeting an extraordinary event took place that would change the lives of so many yet was known by so few.

Few still know of it’s impact even today. A prediction was made by the applicant, a real prediction about the future of the wizarding world and the balance of the powers within it.

As usual, with most locations in and around the wizarding towns, Voldemort had sources that would report to him, and this location was no different. One of his followers overheard parts of the prediction and due to its importance and relevance to the Dark Lord, reported what he had heard. The result of what was overheard is what caused Voldemort to decide he had to kill the young Potter boy before he could grow up and be the eventual destroyer of himself.

Predictions and the future, telling fortunes of one’s fate,
Divination is an art to some to others just a fake.
But who can tell the difference when your life is on the line,
And the words you think aren’t possible turn truthfully this time.

The problem for Voldemort was that the Headmaster, hearing the prediction and knowing of it’s relevance and potential threat to the Potters, persuaded them into hiding to keep Harry safe from the Death Eaters and the Dark Lord himself. In the wizarding world, there is magic than can protect those who wish to remain hidden. By using a “secret keeper” to protect the whereabouts of those who wish to hide, they could exist in relative safety and still have a somewhat normal life.

Unfortunately, as all would know later, the forces of evil and the promise of power, was much more of a temptation for one member of the Order.

Peter, under the disillusioned thoughts of gaining favor with the Dark Lord, convinced Sirius to let him be the Potter’s secret keeper. Against his better judgement, Sirius agreed and the information that would prove to be both treasure and demise to Voldemort was handed to Peter who in turn reported it immediately to his master.

Due to the importance of what had been overheard in the prediction, Voldemort felt it necessary to carry out the killing of the baby himself. A decision that would haunt him to this day. Upon arriving at the Potter’s house Voldemort struggled with the parents in an effort to kill the boy. Only after killing both of them was he able to make an attempt to kill Harry. What Voldemort didn’t know was that Lily’s love for, and protection of Harry, sealed a spell placed upon him by Dumbledore that caused Voldemort’s killing curse to backfire upon it’s sender.

Voldemort was vanquished to a transitional existence while Harry was left parentless and marked with the familiar lightning bolt scar on his forehead.

But even in the worst of times some happiness comes through,
As Harry James was born that year to parents whose love was true.
The gift of life and happy times, short-lived, for man and wife,
A prediction made by someone else would scar the child for life.

Wow, my friend, I didn't know you were this talented! Seriously. I read a great deal of your poems (not all of them I must confess, but I will surely when I have the time). Beautiful. And you seem to get better the try. Cheers to you! And I hope I'm seeing more Quidditch poems ~_^
