as for the reason, it's a dare from the EEFFD (Evil Elite Fan Fic Dares) which have to follow the perimeters that I included after the poem. So if I see another one I'm interested in, I'll write another.....:ballcp: Spots

well I did it again, while I was just surfing around the SS site I stumbled upon the EEFFD challenge and the current dare looked pretty interesting so I started writing and before I knew it, I had the following poem finished. I've posted it here and in my EEFFD thread. As before, remember to read the poem first, then read the dare requirements following it so see what had to be in the story........enjoy Spots


Thistle Purple


The sound of his steps could be heard day and night
As he ran through the halls of the castle
“It’s ole Dumbledore’s ghost chasing me on my right”
Neville said, “and it’s really a hassle.”

As he panted in place with a stitch in his side
And a desperate gaze on his face
“Is there no where to run, is there no where to hide?”
“Can’t a guy get a break in this place?”

“There’s a room that I know of,” said a small squeaky voice
“You can go there and hide, catch your breath”
Neville said, “you had better be sure of this choice?”
“Or you’ll die a ridiculous death.”

To the room of requirement Longbottom sped
With the graying figure still close behind
“I know this is where that brave first year had said”
“Now it’s only the door I can’t find”

So he paced and he paced with his hands on the wall
Near the portrait of a blond serving wench
And he kicked and he punched as he started to bawl
“What I’d give for a steel pipewrench”

On the third pass it happened, it all just appeared
And he quickly pushed open the door
He ran in as ole Dumbledore’s ghost disappeared
Then he tripped and fell flat on the floor

“What is this?” Neville said as he picked up the thing
And examined the edge that was torn
“That’s my pipe, give it back,” Neville heard the voice sing
As he turned to Professor Slughorn

“What has happened to you to have caused such a thing?”
Neville asked wondering how it occurred
“I have poisoned myself and can now only sing
Every time I try uttering a word.”

“That is sad,” Neville said as he tried not to laugh
“But ‘tis better to you than to me”
“I can order us room service on your behalf”
“Say, some crumpets or biscuits and tea”

Neville gave out commands, the elves brought them the stuff
And they ate as he sang them a song
“Hey I know that one,” Neville said strangely enough
So he asked, “mind if I sing along?”

As they belted out melodies slightly off key
The door open and MacGonagal walked in
“As the Headmistress I announce this new decree”
“Let the painting of Hogwarts begin!”

“In what color madam Headmistress?” both of them sang
“Seafoam green or in mulberry blue?”
“Or perhaps a nice powderpuff pinkish,” they rang
“No, I think thistle purple will do”

So they painted and painted and painted some more
Every inch of that secretive room
Til they realized now that they couldn’t find the door
“Is it here that we’ll all meet our doom?”

“Don’t be silly,” she said as she opened the door
With her wand and a flick of her hand
They ran out to the hall but then just as before
Neville’s troubles returned once again

As he dashed down the corridors now a rich purpley
No relief from his stress did he find
So wherever you see Neville once again, you will see
Dumbledore’s ghost follow closely behind


and the Dare requirements were:

evlpez's dare:
* McGonagall is Headmistress, and paints the whole castle thistle purple.
* Dumbledore's Ghost follows Neville around.
* Slughorn poisons himself, can't speak anymore but can only sing.
* A 'red shirt' first year must die a ridiculous death (red shirt = nameless, brave other character we've never seen before)
* You must make use of the following: a pipe, a pipewrench, a serving wench, room service, the room of requirement
