Default Quill on Fire - Sa13+

Hello All,

I'm FoxFire, as you can see, and I wrote a little ditty I'd like to share with ya'll. I guess I'm calling my thread "Quill on Fire" since I've got to think of something new to write every month to keep my thread open!

I hope you like it-

“The Broom and the Snitch”

Oh the broom
that ancient and powerful
tool; fashioned from the earth
that houses and feeds us
its handle polished
to a bright and cheerful shine
the twigs perfectly placed and
at the ready
for the wind to travel through
each perfect shoot,
in pursuit of that flighty temptress

the snitch
a perfect round sphere
bright gold and shiny
its delicate but strong
spun-gold wings
folding slowly
almost rapturously
from its sides
like a fairy waking from a deep sleep
ready to claim the night
but the snitch claims the air of the day
and those that fight to claim her

the broom and the snitch
dance in the bright
afternoon sunlight
the snitch soaring dipping and diving
merrily, just out of the reach of those
on their brooms, fighting to win her
submission; and one closes in
and holds her in his hand
wings still beating furiously
the dance has ceased
but will soon begin again
the battle is over for now
but will resume.

Welcome to the Script Crypt Foxy, you have penned a very nice poem to start your thread with. I hope to see many more colorful pieces from you in the future. I was reading your poem and it occured to me that I never actully thought of the snitch as having a personality or being female or male. I have written several poems myself about Quidditch and the snitch but didn't think about calling it a "her" it does put a unique persepctive on it when looked at from that point of view. Well done and welcome again.....Spots
