So I said I wouldn't enter the 12 Days of Potter Contest so I could help administer it... but reading all those awesome posts, made me want to write one too! LOL!
'Twas The Night Before Christmas
'Twas the night before Christmas,
and all through the school
All my snakes were partying
'cause Slytherin house's cool.
The children weren't nestled or snug in their beds,
What are we? Hufflepuffs? We'd rather be dead!
Studying? Please. We're not Ravenclaws,
Winter break means we party awaiting Santa Claus.
When out from the grounds I heard a big crash,
I sprang from the lab to see a broom in the trash
and a red bottom pertruding above the broomstick
I laughed and I said "You must be St. Nick."
"I'm Hecate Lafay," I said to the red bum.
"Potion Mistress of Hogwarts. Where'd you come from?"
"Help me, don't just stand there" I heard from the can
"This garbage smells," that's when the coughing began
I drew my own wand and with a flourish I cast,
with a scream and a grunt he was out in the blast.
"You could have killed me Lafay, I could have been hurt!"
"Stop whining," I said "Too much energy you'll exert!"
"Now tell me, big man, why are you here?"
He sighed real big as I summonned butterbeer
"The sleigh is broken, and all the reindeer are sick
This year I thought I could use a broomstick."
I rolled my eyes, it's just something I do
"You aren't a wizard," "Well that much I knew!"
"How could you think on a broom you could fly?"
"I see you all do it, way up from the sky."
"Get up off the grass, or Max will get mad.
your clothes are all dirty and you look really sad."
"Well of course I am sad, the children won't see
all the gifts I'd have gifted, under their tree."
Sweet Circe, I thought, "Fine. I'll assist"
He smiled real wide and my cheek he then kissed
I smacked him and said "I'm engaged, so stay clear,
Now lets find a Thestral and get you out of here."
"And the gifts" he asked, pointing to his sack.
"I'll charm it," I said, "it'll fly at your back."
He smiled at me and said with a tear.
"Be proud Lafay, you saved Christmas this year."
He got himself up and was stunned at the ride,
"A horse I can't see?" "This. Or nothing. Decide."
"I'll take it, I'll take it." And smiling he took flight.
"Happy Christmas Hogwarts, Lafay's all bark and no bite!" | |
