having written over 100 books in some 94 languages.
Her most recognized stories are the adventures of Pippi Longstocking, the strongest child in the world.
She is able to raise her dotted horse, Little Old Man, above her head and carry him around. Elsa Beskow 
Elsa Beskow was the first female writer to recieve the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1906.
She is most widely known for the story of Nils Holgersson - The Wonderful Adventures of Nils.
Nils is a very mischevious boy who doesn't know better than to disturb the family farm animals.
After he captures a gnome, Nils gets transformed into a gnome himself. One of the geese
tries to escape and Nils clings onto him in a attempt to stop him.
But as he does, the goose still manages to get away, joining a flock that is flying overhead.
As he flies over Sweden, they see many wonderful and new things.
Both Selma and Nils can be seen on the Swedish 20 crown (SEK) bill. "Adult's Books" - Jan Gillou - Both a writer and journalist, Gillou is one of the most outspoken writers in Sweden. He's the author of the Arn series, which tell the story of a Knight Templar going to fight in the Holy Lands.
He has also written books based on his own experiences - being sentenced to prison for espionage of the Swedish military. The Carl Hamilton series have been a big success. [LEFT]- Henning Mankell -Most of you probably know the name Kurt Wallander, which is the series of detective novels written by Mankell. The actor, Kenneth Branagh aka Gilderoy Lockhart, has starred as the detective who solved crimes in his hometown of Ystad, a city located at the south of Sweden. - Denmark - "Children's Books" Hans Christian Andersen 
Many of you might already have heard, read or even seen some of H.C. Andersens stories,
as plenty have been adapted into animated movies by Disney. In 1836 he wrote the widely known The Little Mermaid, about a young mermaid with the dream to transform herself
into a more human form for the sake of her love to a prince.
Andersens other famous stories include The Ugly Duckling and . "Adult's Books" - Finland - "Children's Books" Tove Jansson 
The biggest children's author in Finland, Tove Jansson, is responsible for creating the cuddly family. - Norway - "Children's Books" "Adult's Books"
