Sirius Black strode briskly out of the castle, he wanted to see how Hagrid's pumpkins were coming along this year, and maybe start scheming up some mischief to go along with those monster pumpkins.
He expected to see from far away the orange pumkins, but to his terror he couldn't, hurrying closer he tried to spot them. He ran up closer mto the pumpkins to find they were visible only from a short distance away "Not good, not good at all for a monster pumpkin" he said.
Just then Hagrid stepped out of his little hut and saw Sirius eyeing his not so big pumpkins, "it's alright, boy, they've got time yet to grow," he said smiling.
"What kind of Halloween costume is that?," Sirius asked as he jumped back two feet, witnessing the Bunny outfit Hagrid displayed.
Hagrid grinned, "just getting into the Halloween spirit early, like yourself there, going to the Halloween Ball as a hobo are you?" he said, gesturing towards Sirius' ratty clothes and torn jeans.
"Nah, I was thinking a Bag Lady for Halloween but I thought the skirt was a bit much," Sirius said as he looked down at his clothes and picked at the ratted and torn pieces.
When Hagrid began laughing Sirius began talking again, "but you really think these are a bit ratty to wear as everyday wear? i mean... i wasn't dressed up for anything but if i look like a costume then i won't have to buy one!" he smiled.
Hagrid chuckled as he looked up to see Peter walking towards them wearing a French Maid outfit he had got at the local Hogsmeade Halloween shop a couple of days ago.
Sirius turned in the direction of Hagrid's gaze, "Peter, mate, what IS that you're wearing? it's bad enough i'm in a hobo suit, and him a bunny skin, but THAT!?!?!" he stared.
"Well, yes!" Peter said unhappily as he came foreward. "I couldn't decide on what to be, so I just asked to get what the last person bought! And this is what I got... I didn't look at what I actually got 'till now..." He sighed and sat down on a pumpkin.
Sirius gasped as Peter squished one of the incredibly small monster pumpkins, "PETER YOU RAT!!!!! LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE NOW!!!!!" he shouted, grabbing his hair and began to freak out.
Peter looked at the ground, "I'm s-sorry! I just sat on it! I-" But he didn't get to finish because Lily Evans came out of the castle dressed as a muggle singer named Cher and behind her, looking very cheerful, was James.
Sirius glared at Peter, he had seen the crop, there wasn't much for monster pumpkins this year, and for that made him even more angry at Peter, but started laughing uncontrollably at Lily's outfit, and more so at JAmes' reaction to her.
James, who was dressed as a tedy bear, adjusted his ears happily as he spoke, "Hey guys! What's going....... PETER! What did you do to that pumpkin?!" he burst out as he saw Peter and the squished pumpkin.
Remus strolled down following Lily and james towards hagrid's hut wearing a white lab coat and a wig resembling Einstein's hair.
As Lily and James arrived at the pumpkin patch Lily looked at Sirius and said "Calm down Sirius, it was only one pumpkin and there are dozens more. Peter, what in the name of Merlin are you wearing? Are you trying to tell us something?"
Peter figdeted nervously as the shocked eyes gazed at him, but saying nothing, interested himself in the bats swooping overhead that seemed to be laughing at him and his costume.
"I like the costume" Lily said clearly lying, she gave a small quick smile at Peter.
James snorted, "Chyea! You would like his halloween costume if YOU were wearing it. But don't even try to lie about it on him..."
Sirius looked at Peter and said I don't know how you'll explain that to Macgonagle, she'll be fearious with you.
James fidgeted in his broomstick costume the tasles on his head, that represented the bristles of the broom, itched terrably.
Sirius still shook his head over the broken pumpkin, then turned to Peter, "be more careful next time, will ya?"
While Peter nodded silently, Sirius turned with some satisfactory smile and asked, "Shall we move guys?"
Peter was confused, "move where?" he wanted badly to sit, but would wait for a bench to come along.
"you'll see Peter" Sirius said smiling at James trying to avoid Lupins eye.
Remus sighed, surveying the situation. Splattered pumpkin, dodgey costumes and now there was a plot he was not sure of. It'd be laugh, but he had an assignment to do and not in detention.
Sirius saw Remus's face and said, "don't worry, it's nothing too troublesome," he said grinning.
Remus wondered what he would do with this group of boys. James was gaga over Lily and not worth much around her, Sirius only enjoyed irritating those less fortunate than he and Peter was undeniably a goof. What to do?
Shaking his head, Remus looked at Sirius who seemed to be heading towards the Forbidden Forest. Sirius also had a look focused in his eyes that just reiterated Remus' doubts. Following, but hanging back slightly, Remus adjusted his Lab Coat, watching Sirius now start to skip along the path.
James turned and saw Sirius skipping, "what's gotten into him?" he asked grinning and making a funny face.
"I don't know," Remus replied anxiously, "I hope he isn't up to anything sneaky, as usual."
James was staring at Lily and barely heard his friend, "sneaky, ya thats what he does best, good work." he said without taking his eyes off her.
Unfortunately for him, Lily noticed; however, for once, she chose to ignore him instead of getting furious.
without reason, well yes there was, Lily started to blush in her ignoring JAmes and quickly turned away, she couldn't let him see her guard being down, she simply couldn't.
"Good God, Moony, I think she's actually blushing," James whispered, in disbelief, to Remus.
Remus turned and saw a bit of pink in Lily's cheeks, "well well mate, i think you finallly may have done it," he said grinning
Suddenly Lily changed her face as she was not blushing and started, " Hey guys, don't imagine anything out of mind. I was not at all blushing. Better you go and change you glasses James, Crazy".
"WHAT?!" James said, his mouth dropping open, stung by the injustice of it all, while Remus laughed his head off in the background.
Lily strode off, head held high, ignoring James and feeling bad, the one time she could've let her true feelings show she lied to him and made him feel hurt, she should turn around and tell the truth, but not with all these people around.
James enjoyed the moment as he knows Lily's feelings. He know her perfectly. "Oi Remus, stop the laugh. We have the business to find out Sirius!", said James and started to walk down the patches.
Sirius turned, only Peter had followed, "hurry your behinds up!" he called.
Shrugging, the others followed.
Sirius looked back once more, finally they were following, and he smiled, having no clues where they were going, he led them into the forest, all with Hagrid watching and not doing anything but grinning.
"Errm, where are we going, Padfoot?" Moony asked, raising an eyebrow as Sirius continued to lead them into the Forest.
Sirius looked back only briefly to grin and shake his head, "not yet Moony ol' pal!" he said grinning huge, and then walked into a tree, falling down with an OOF!!!
Remus ran over to him, followed by James, "Are you okay?" Both asked at the same time.
Sirius blinked, standing up, "i meant to do that, haha just for fun," he said rubbing his head, he was lying of course, and walked deeper into the forest.
Others followed him with so much Amusement. Meanwhile they were expecting a big surprise.
"please tell me where you're taking us!" Moony cried, "i don't want to follow and get lost! you'd better not get us all lost!" He said.
"There," Sirius said, stepping aside to show them what their big surprise, and it was
- Snape hanging down from a tree, swearing and cursing madly.
