Hello and welcome to the Haiku thread of SBFC. There have been quite a few people who enjoyed this part of WIYM and we wanted to bring it back to life again.
Haiku is a mode of Japanese poetry. If you remember from WIYM that is great, if not then let me explain. Haiku is a poem made up of three (3) lines. Each line has a specific pattern that you must follow called the 5, 7, 5 syllable rule. First line will contain 5 syllables, second line 7, and the third line back to 5.
A syllable is a word or part of a word that can be pronounced with one impulse from the voice. A syllable always contains a vowel sound, and most syllables have consonants associated with the vowel.
Example:
Sirius has 3 syllables – Si-ri-us
The poems do not have to rhyme for it would make it more work than it already is. I hope you have fun in this thread and remember to keep it Sirius related.

BEST OF WIYM III ~ SIRIUS HAIKUS Since we have had SO many wonderful haikus written by our brill WIYM III posters, I thought it only fair to share some of the best with all of you. With the writers' benevolence, here they are and enjoy!
Note: Some members feature more haikus than others. Only natural, seeing as though they have posted more in the WIYM III - haikus round. 
Also, if anyone would like to see theirs posted here, as well as I haven't had the chance to go through all the haiku posts in the WIYM, you may PM me.  Lady V:
When dark overcomes
You must remember the light
Don't be hushed by night
Mirror, oh mirror,
It reflects no more your face,
merely your absence
In all of the books
You remain a presence strong
A smile, a tear, you.
Forget all the tears
Remember instead the laughs
We once had with him
A loner he was
For so many years alone,
but now, he has us
Blackened
Souls are strange things, really
They have a bark-like laugh, and
They yearn to be free
Veiled night unfolds you
Still you written in the stars
Are most beautiful.
Right behind the veil
Souls wait for their turn to drift
Into the sunset
The road is dark now
I hear the call of the veil
It tears me apart
Too soon we lost you
All the leaves call out your name

The night was starry
And I hoped you would return
