Default SBFC Topic #15 - Sirius and Kreacher
The Sweetest Thing Lissy De Vil

What are your thoughts on Sirius' treatment of the house elf? Does the elf bring it upon himself? Is Sirius being unfair? Could he have been nicer to Kreacher? Would he have treated all house elves similarly?

Quote to consider: "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." What do you think this says about Sirius' personality based on how he treats Kreacher, his 'inferior'?

Interesting Question kind of gives you something to think about lol....

I personally never liked Kreacher lol...but I mean like elves may be smaller than witches/wizards and forced to 'serve' them. It doesnt mean they must be treated like 'inferiors'.
Kreacher deserved SOME of the treatment he was given. Since he was a scheming little elf but I mean maybe if he was treated better throughout his life he wouldn't have turned out as horrible as he did...

Sirius did have an interesting personality I think that is why so many loved him...He didnt have a horrible personality but he treated Kreacher like crap lol....I think personally he didnt like being back 'home' Kreacher reminded him of his horrible time home and it put him in a foul mood then he never liked Kreacher having evil intentions and such.
Sirius' personality again....he could have at least tried and be nicer to Kreacher and then seen what results from that but who knows.....

Yeah thats all I have to say currently lol.....

That quote is interesting...

I do think that a lot of it Kreacher brought upon himself, partly by being so rude (for lack of a better word).

I agree... The way Sirius treated Kreacher was also heavily influenced by having to be back home with a house-elf who, in a way, idolized everything he hated.

Under the same circumstances (same personality as Kreacher, same place, etc), I think it's likely he would have, though if they were different, he would have treated them better.

In different circumstanes, the quote is a very good way to judge people, though I think Sirius' circumstance was an exception.
