Is Sirius Dead?




I would love to know what people think about this one: Is our adored Dawg Man dead, or not?

If yes, how? And if not, how can he come back? Where is he right now?

If he is dead, is there still a chance of him meeting Harry again? And, if yes, how?

yay!!! pefrect place to put my theory...noone has really commented on it but here goes

k well i dont have the book with me right now so i dont remember what page it is on but its the page where sirius gets it...it says something about Bellatrix casting a spell and it is a jet of red light and it misses sirius...but when sirius gets hit with the second jet of light it isnt specified what color teh light is...i looked it up and Stupefy is the spell that has a red jet of light...and that is a stunning spell...so i was thinking that maybe sirius didnt really die persay but was just stunned when he went through teh veil since the second jet's color was never specified...and if it was avada kedavra one would think that JKR would have specified it as a green light because she did that with every other death by avada kedavra

so maybe the reasoning behind him falling through the veil and being dead while falling through it or being stunned and falling through it would be 2 different situations as to what is really behind the veil

i know its a LONG shot but i just wanted to see what everyone elses thoughts were...i was trying to figure out anyway possible that Sirius survived


i'd love to hear other people's thoughts...u can cmpletely tear my theory apart if you want lol...id like to hear any feedback that there is

yes, he's ded. i know we don't want him to be, but JK has said 5 million times, that when someone dies in her books they are ded and not coming back. she doesn't want the kids who read her books to think that if a family member dies, they might come back. sad that he is gone, but he's still watching over Harry and now he gets to prank with James again.

Agree with you, beck77. Sirius is, unfortunately, definitely dead. *cries* I did think of the theory about the jet of light just being a Stunning Spell, and there have been loads and loads of fanfics about Sirius turning up in completely unexpected and random places, or going mad behind the veil, but the fact is that if JKR says he ain't coming back, then he ain't coming back. Besides, if he did come back, the fantasy realism that the Harry Potter series is would be completely scrapped.

However, one thing I just thought of, which is really puzzling me, is this: was it Bellatrix's spell which killed Sirius (i.e. was the spell Avada Kedavra?) or was it his fall behind the Veil which did it? Because if the second jet of light was NOT green, and Lupin could still tell Harry that Sirius was gone for sure, that means Lupin knows something about the Veil which he hasn't revealed as yet. Perhaps we will find out some secrets about it in Book 7... I get a feeling that Harry will have to return to the Department of Mysteries, painful as it may be, to get the lowdown on the Veil, as JKR has stated that we'll find out about death and ghosts in Book 7, and the Veil may be pivotal in Harry's understanding of this.

OK, well... all this has gone kinda off the topic of Sirius's actual death, but that's my two cents.

I agree. I believe Sirius is dead. As Dumbledore has said, there's no way to bring someone back from the dead. I'd love it if he could come back, but unfortunately, I believe he is gone. i also find it interesting that JK did not specify the color of the jet of light that hit Sirius when he feel through the veil. Maybe its just to confuse us even more. It could be possible that Sirius could talk to Harry through the 2 way mirror, but I highly doubt it considering that Sirius probably didn't have the 2 way mirror with him when he died. He could be able to talk to Harry, though, through the veil. As it has been said, Harry and I believe Neville as well could hear voices/sounds through the veil. Perhaps, Sirius could end up sending a message through that.

Sirius is dead. It breaks my heart to know it, but he is dead. There is no chance of him coming back as a ghost, judging from what Nearly Headless Nick said.

Sirius Black is NOT d....! He is just fashionably late as usual! He will pop out of the curtain at anytime and will be awaiting his hugs from all SBFC members so get ready my dear friends!

On a SIRIUS note.........

I am hoping that since JKR will not speak of the mirrors, I would like to believe that Sirius will come back and help Harry as an image in the mirror. If nothing more, let's find a picture of Sirius and maybe he will come back as that and scream and yell at his mother's portrait as well.

i think Sirius is dead after all. well i really dont like sayin people are dead but in this case i will. i dont even think he is coming back as a ghost. im sorry to say once again that sirius is staying underground

yes. unfortunately our beloved Sirikins is dead. JKR has said it, but not only that, he went in a veil. i didn't hink anyone could actually go inside a veil but that's because no one's ever lived to come out of one to say that they have been inside of one. and i know he's not gonna come back as a ghost, his business on earth is finished.... sorta. and he'd be more eager to go meet up with James and Lily rather than stay a ghost for all eternity, because one day *coughSOONcough* Harry will join them all in the afterlife. i'm not saying i believe in the afterlife in real life, cuz i don't, but in Harry Potter, sure why not? but yes, Sirius Black has been finished.

Unfortunately, I think that Sirius is ... ... dead. Bellatrix killed him *Plots to rip her head off*, there's no doubting that. Unfortunately. J.K.Rowling is serious about her deaths. Like Dumbledore, others thought that he's really alive. But, she said the Dumbledore is dead. So, it could be possible that Sirius isn't dead. But, I think that he's really ... ... dead. If he isn't dead, I will be the happiest girl ever. Plus, I'd have my Snuffles back!

No, Sirius is not dead. It says the light that hit him was red not green! I think Lupin knew, so he didn't let Harry go after him and let him think that Sirius was dead. Sirius didn't know the Ministry said he was innocent at the end of the book, so he's in hiding, thinking he's still a wanted man. About the mirror, either it broke when Sirius fell through the veil, or he didn't have the mirror when he fell through. It's also possible the veil had a transporter behind it, so he was transported to who knows where. That's my theory in a nutshell.

As a die hard fan of snuffles, i refuse to believe that Sirius is dead!!! Actually I think he's still behind the veil... Like Dan said, I believe that falling through the veil transported him to some other place.

It's really sad to say, but Srius sadly is dead. J.K. doesn't seem to be the kind of writer to bring supposedly dead caracters back to life.

*cries* A much as I don't want to believe it, yes he is dead I'm afriad. You can't come back from the dead...well we don't know anything about the veil, except what Lupin I think it was told us in book 5, so he could be or he could be somewhere hiding until book 7...oh wow I have no clue now...um...but yes I think he is dead

I think that Sirius ... ... is dead. Well, I don't know. Seeming we don't know that much about the veil, I'm in the middle. It'd be awesome if Sirius was alive!

Yes, I think he's dead but I also think he will be able to communicate with Harry in some way in Deathly Hollows.

I'd love to believe that somehow, someway Sirius is still alive, but it just does not seem possible to me. Jo has had Dumbledore in past books stress that you cannot bring anyone back from the dead. I doubt she'll start now.

*sniff* as much as I hate it, I am certain that Sirius is in Veil Land, and will be staying there....

Oh man. Yes, the only reason I believe Sirius dead is because that woman that calls herself "J.K." stated that he indeed is. And she seems pretty knowledgeble when it comes to Harry Potter.

But siriusly( ), I think the reason JK killed Sirius(and Dumbledore) was to put Harry off on his own, without someone to really go to for advice, or you know, someone to look up to. So, in reality, it was an important death for Harry.(darn you JK ) Yeah, Sirius is d-d-dead. But, maybe he will appear in a portrait or somethin like that, just to give us all a breathe of fresh air, because we all desperately need it. Am I right?

oh and by the way, as far as i'm concerned, bellatrix lestrange can sizzle in the pits.
