I think they were attracted to each other because they are just so different. It also helps that they've been through a lot together and that creates a bond between people.

Personally I think the pairing is a good one, although I don't like Ron too much in the books and I think Hermione could do better than him, she is a good influence. She helps keep Ron more levelheaded while he allows Hermione to act in a less uptight manner due to his joviality and laid back attitude.

I do agree with you Aimee.

And I personally say that I am a Ron/Hermione shipper when I get to read the books. In the movies, well, I can say the Harry/Hermione tandem was a little bit exaggerated and so growing up with watching it, I ended up liking the pair but then when I get to hold the books, it all changed.

Hermione and Ron are two opposite individuals with so different personalities, she was the serious type and he was the fun type. He brings out the life in her while she pushes him to be better in anything he does.

I agree that they both were different. That's what drew them to each other like magnet poles. Although I'm not such a shipper, I can sense their chemistry since the Prisoner of Azkaban. Funny thing that Harry was always there to interrupt their moments.

I do agree that they were both extremely different and I think that was partially what brought them together. Plus I also think part of it is because of the whole trio thing. The trio basically stuck together through their years at Hogwarts, even thought there were frequent fights between the two of them. But the trio was still there even if Harry was there also, but there never seemed to be anything between him and Hermione.

Hmm I LOVE the Ronmione thing. Especially because they are such opposite, and their relationship sort of started blooming and it was great to see the progression both in the book and on screen.

Maybe because Ron had it for annoying people lol. In some ways Hermione was like Molly, that she annoyed him, was bossy but yet he still loved her. Isn't that how a lot of guys are, look for similarities in a person that their mum has? Well, in some ways that's possibly true here!

But I think that he saw her as a possible friend at first, even though she annoyed him incredibly so those first few months. But as the years went on, he took on more of a love for her, embarrassed to tell her but still fell in love. I think it was during the triwizard that it really started to hit him.

ok so i cant find that mile long post but suffice it to say, to ME i saw no chemistry between Ron or Hermione in the books that would indicate that they could make it as a couple (i'm keeping the movies out bcz that just complicates things further). i've read JKR's explanation on this and she said Hermione= Molly. well this was Me=idontbelieveyouJo.

purely in terms of character development, i can see that Jo was keeping Harry's options open-- so yes i can see where Hermione couldve been one such option, but given that JKR decided something else for Harry somewhere in the 5th book onwards, Hermione would look like she was left hanging if she didnt end up with somebody at the end of the series (because by then JKR was already tweaking with her personality, making her less brave and shifting the bulk of the warrior woman bit to Ginny, but i digress).

i think JKR was aiming for the Han-Leia relationship (Star Wars fans would know what i mean) where seemingly opposite personalities that constantly bickers ended up as the greatest couple of the saga. but even re-reading it over the span of 7 books, with Ron and Hermione doing practically everything together (mostly with Harry) i cant see anything about their togetherness that serves as building blocks of a romantic relationship. JKR sets up all the right plot points, but to me, it just doesnt gel.
