Romance in the Half-Blood Prince

This is the only thread in which romance in the Half-Blood Prince may be discussed. Please stick on topic, not diverting to other shows/movies/books (that are not the official Harry Potter Series) at all. Also, please respect other members opinions, whether you agree with them or not. Any vindictiveness in this thread will be severely dealt with, so just don't do it.

This thread may contain any desired ship, however some restrictions apply. There should be absolutely no sexual comments, remembering that this is a site accommodating to all ages. This thread is very closely monitored to ensure that the rules aren't breached and to protect all members including you.

Now, in addition to this, there is now a new rule pertaining to this thread and all other Flourish and Blotts threads, so listen carefully...

If you are found to be breaking the rules in any way you will receive an instant warning.

If the behaviour continues, you will be banned from the forum. No questions, just a ban. Most likely temporary at first (lasting from a few days to a few weeks depending on the incident). However, if it is severe enough the ban could be permanent or could include the whole site.

Seriously guys, the rules are no laughing matter and are in place to protect you, and everyone who uses the forums. I hate getting cranky like this but we just can't allow things against the rules to happen, it just wouldn't be fair to the members who are here for the good fun and entertainment that this site provides.

But mostly, just have fun coming up with interesting ships and theories behind them. Do you support Harry/Ginny? What about Ron/Hermione? Or maybe Harry/Hermione? Do you have one that maybe hasn't been thought of before? Maybe some of the teachers are married and we don't know about it yet... Come on and let us know!!

YES Harry/Ginny, YES Remus/Tonks and YES signs of Ron/Hermione. Romance-wise I was pretty happy with what happened in the book. I thought Ron and Hermione might have came to their senses already and was pleasantly surprised when Remus and Tonks got together!

A lot of this book was like reading bad fanfiction. Maybe JKRowling is just giving the public what they want? I have no idea.

In any case, I wasn't satisfied with the whole Harry/Ginny thing. Harry all of a sudden had all these feelings for Ginny! LAME! I liked the subtle Ron/Hermioen stuff... Like Ron whispering her name in his sleep... it was cute. But the blatant Harry envious of Dean was too much.

... BUT HARRY BROKE UP WITH HER! HA!

As far as Remus and Tonks... Random, JKR... RANDOM...

I was disappointed to see very little of Luna. I almost feel like 'What was the point in ever having her there?' however I've NOT finished the book yet so yeah

However, Remus, more than anyone, deserves happiness.

OMG, I knew Tonks loved Lupin when they described her Patronus, and when harry mentioned that tonks loved her COUSIN Sirius, I was shocked. Was I wrong for once?! Back, as usual, my prediction was right

Ginny/Harry: Since when did HARRY like her? I remember him distinctly thinking all about Hermione ALL in the fifth book. He didn't hardly care for her! JKR was SOOOOOO UNCREATIVE!!!
Ron/Hermione: Waayy to dumb of a plot line. All they did was argue in the other books, and suddenly they love each other?! When did this happen?! And Harry mentions that he knew those two were going to get together...since when?! And how Hermione is beaming at Harry and Ginny snogging... Why is she beaming? I thought she told Harry that Ginny didn't like him anymore... How did that change?
This was just like a mediocre fanfic! This stuff wouldn't even be allowed on Forbidden Forest fanfic!

I was also kinda surprised by harrys sudden feelings for ginny.... but that kiss after she ran up to him with that hug.. i can picture that and it seems so romantic !!!! although a little far-fetched !!!

and i thought rons fling with lavender was kinda weird too... but i did think it was cute how ron got all moody wenever hermione praised harry, and he tried to out-shine him.. although got a bit annoying

it was kidna written like fanfiction... and i can honestly say that there was a number of times where the exact same words from certain fan-fiction storys iv read cropped up !! weird... and she used almost the exact wording of the scene between harry and sirius int he third film with that new slug guy .. was weird..

so yeh.. romance.. glad there was some.. but it was a bit drawn out.. wish harry was happier.. hes like all depressed, howver he isnt as depressed as i thought he woeuld be ?

What Ron did WAS pretty stupid! I think their relationship was nothing but physical attraction.....

Harry was only really focused on Cho in OotP. R/Hr have had UST since CoS. Harry knew what was going on in GoF when he thought that "Hermione had got the point far more clearly than Ron" when she told him to ask her next time. From that point I understood that Harry saw something between R/Hr.

Hermione said Ginny had given up on Harry. That's different to getting over someone. However, I do feel perhaps the H/G line wasn't written as well as it could have been; Harry seemed to get feelings for Ginny from nowhere.

I'll come back when I've finished the book. I've highlighed (I know, blasphemy!) romance sections which I found intriguing, the funniest being when Hr was complimenting H and R was competing for her attention. I got the feeling Jo wanted to draw out R/Hr that little bit longer.

I think Harry could have came into his feelings over time but I do think that it did happen in a logical way. He was seeing her with someone else(he didn't really see her with Micheal) and felt jealous. At first he thought it was over-protective big brother feelings but then realised it was more than that. Weirder things have happened in books..and real life.

Oo..I forgot to mention Hagrid and Madam Maxime!! Yay for Hagrid.

but yeh.. it was weird with the romance between them, and it was kinda cute how he broke up with her, like for her protection...

i was well shocked about tonks and lupin.. i mean like ...SINCE WHEN !! lol...

That's true but it could've been drawn out more. He went from thinking it was just brotherly to lovingly very fast.

I think we (R/Hr shippers) expected too much. And, as a result, were severely disappointed with the Ron/Lavendar thing. Seriously, this sounds sad, but when he started kissing her I felt so upset I could've cried. I was yelling at the book, "NOOOOOO! DON'T KISS HER. KISS HERMIONE."

I fully agree with that... I get tired of the bickering... but the part at the funeral where Ron strokes her hair.... awww I loved that... but it will happen it just has to!

I'm not even sure it was physical attraction. Lavender was attracted to him, but I think Ron did it just to make Hermione jealous -joins Emma on bashing- I felt sooo sorry for Hermione!!

And, while Harry's feelings seem out of the blue -twitch- a ship I really don't like, it sort of fits. You know how Ron kind of finally realized Hermione was a girl. Harry's been so busy with so much that he kind of suddenly came out of the fog, I guess.

You guys have to keep in mind; they're sixteen year old teenages. Rampant hormones. While, I was througly disgusted with Ron for snogging Lavender's face off, it did give edge to the romance. We have now seen that both of them, Ron and Hermione, are totally into each other. Us Hr/R shippers may have hated the R/Lr, but it gave us sight.

Sides... Ron got to stroke Hermione's hair and kind of hold her at the end

Not happy about harry/ginny, not happy about that at all. Other then that the romance in the book was fine with me though the ron/lavender thing was a bit weird. But now I'm pretty sure it will be ron/hermione in the next book, or it better be. definatly happy about tonks/remus, the one ship in the story that i really support. It was random though, definatly pretty random but I still liked it.

OMG. I really could not have asked for more romantic drama than what I got! And I'm absolutely thrilled! I'm mean we've got Ron and Hermione in a rash, jealous-spawned relationships and then they finally come to their senses at the end *rereads "holding" part at the end*. And then ,completly out of nowhere but welcomed none the less, comes a breif Harry/ Ginny spell (which I am wholly convinced will resurface...I hope)after Harry goes into jealous spasms and furious inner conversations with himself(loved that). And then Lupin/Tonks which was wonderful and oh-so sweet. *sighs happily* (and was anyone else thrilled by Hermione siking the birds on Ron?)

No one else in here has just suddenly gotten gaga for someone, even someone they knew? A neighbor next door, kid you've known since pre-K, whatever? I know I have. And what I struggled with was along the same lines... "but this is ***** I can't be thinking THAT I can't be wanting... no he's..." It's fairly typical.

I thought some of it was badly written too, but certainly realistic in a teenage realm.
