Okay so this story completely just busted out of nowhere, but yeah, it has A LOT of twists and turns and I cannot WAIT to write it all down in words!

Plot: 7th year; Dumbledore’s alive; crazy story, seriously.

Chapter One

It was the first day of classes in the golden trio’s last year of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hermione breathed a breath of fresh September air, as Harry and Ron groaned. Their first class was about to start. Breakfast had just ended. Just their luck: they were stuck with double Potions with the 7th year Slytherins. Hermione, who did despise the Slytherins, was still happy enough to be getting back to lessons. While making their way to the dungeons, the trio saw Luna Lovegood, their old friend, walking down the hall wearing an especially odd pair of earrings.

“Hello Luna,” Harry said very politely, as always.

“Why hello Harry; watch it, that’s a Nargle!” Luna exclaimed frightfully.

She had caused Harry a fright, and he had jumped the slightest bit when she said it, but when he saw that she was only joking, he laughed. “Nice to see you Luna; hurry…you’ll be late for class.”

Harry, Ron, and Hermione made their way to Snape’s dusty, grungy old dungeon classroom for double Potions. As they walked in, they noticed something written on the board that had never been there before…

“Sit down. Shut up. You will be assigned Lab Partners this year. They will be your partners all year long, every day of Potions class. You will sit next to them, do all assignments with them, and study for and take tests with this person. Please wait to be assigned.”

Ron and Harry both took in gasps of air, both hoping to miraculously be paired with Hermione, both knowing they wouldn’t be. Suddenly, Severus Snape whisked into the classroom in his usual dramatic, gothic air. Everyone’s mouths shut, and they all took their seats, not a sign of respect, but more of fear.

“Unless you are all complete imbeciles, which I’m aware some of you very much are,” Snape made a pointed look at Harry, Ron, and Neville, all sitting within a close vicinity of each other, “Then you have read the board. You will have yearlong Lab Partners in this class. It is a new tradition I will be starting with my seventh year class because, as you all should know, when you get out of school, most jobs require some kind of teamwork. Thank GOD I get to work alone…I couldn’t stand working with the likes of you.” He snarled, and everyone rolled their eyes.

“10 points from Gryffindor, Mr. Potter. Don’t roll your eyes at me like that.” Snape growled. Injustice was a routine in this class. The whole class had rolled their eyes, but of course Harry would be the only one to be punished.

“Alright, moving on. Let me get on with it and call out the Lab Partners:

Dean and Lavender
Seamus and Parvati
Blaise and Goyle
Crabbe and Millicent
Ronald Weasley and Pansy
Potter and Mr. Longbottom
Ms. Granger and Draco…”

Harry, Ron, and Hermione were all in disbelief. Harry liked Neville as a person, but he was bound to fail the class now; Ron hated the guts out of Pansy; and Hermione, especially Hermione, was fuming. Snape knew how much she hated Draco Malfoy. She hated everything about him from his blonde hair, to his arrogance, to his smug, pointy face. She violently flung her hand up in the air.

“Yes, Ms. Granger? Is there a problem?” Snape asked, a twisted grin flickering behind his thin lips.

“I object to being partnered with Draco Malfoy.” Everyone gaped at her. No one would have thought she would have openly done this.

“And what reasons do you have behind that Ms. Granger?” Snape snarled.

“For one, we have hated each other since first year, we won’t work well together. Two, he is always calling me a Mudblood. Three, I really can’t stand him and I would end up doing all the work,” Hermione took a deep breath at the end, as she hadn’t breathed since she began her rant.

Snape grinned malevolently, “Five points from Gryffindor for disrupting class. Maybe you and Mr. Malfoy can learn to get along.” Hermione was in disbelief at this outrage. Draco looked just as angry sitting next to Goyle, but he didn’t dare speak up to Snape as Hermione had. He thought, “Wow, now I’m going to have to put up with the Mudblood all year long…fantastic.”

Two hours later, emerging from the class, Hermione was still fuming. I can’t believe it. Starting next week when we have Potions, I will have to sit next to Draco Malfoy and put up with his snide, cruel remarks. He’s just so…so…” Hermione struggled for the right words.

“Conceited?” Harry offered.

“Pig-headed?” Ron added in.

“Rude, cruel, embarrassing, self-centered, obnoxious, pureblood obsessed, ridiculous…oh I just can’t stand him!” Hermione exploded. At just that precise time, Snape walked past them.

“Tisk, tisk, Ms. Granger…outbursts in the hall…I think that’ll be an additional ten points from Gryffindor.”

As soon as Snape was out of earshot, Hermione called him all sorts of names that can’t possibly be mentioned. Meanwhile, Draco was fuming as well, venting to Crabbe, Goyle, and Blaise how ticked off he was at the whole situation.

“You wait till my father hears about this; I mean honestly, what does Snape think he’s playing at, putting me with a Mudblood? It has to be some kind of joke; I mean come on, he knows I hate the girl..."

I've never been a Hermione/Draco fan...but then again, I really haven't gotten used to the idea that Draco and his family "left the dark side" either.

It seems like a great start! Keep it comin'!

Oh wow, I have so many comments, yay! I would have probably posted more already, but I had a choir concert today. Therefore: I missed like 5 pages on an RP & someone has to catch me up, and other things. Lol. But yeah. Let's see if I can work on a post... (: hehe, here comes.

Chapter Two

A week later, the seventh year Gryffindors again found themselves walking to the dungeons. Again, they passed Luna, in another especially sunshiny mood. Hermione, however, could not appreciate the brightness Luna was giving off that morning because she was dreading the class ahead of her far too much. She couldn’t fathom what would make Snape, even Snape, do this to her. She was pretty sure, deep down, that he really just wanted her to fail the class, but she actually doubted that he would do that at the expense of precious Draco.

“Take your seats and shut up,” Snape ordered, closing all the windows that revealed the slightest bit of light into the now pitch black dungeon. Hermione was seated next to Draco, Ron with Pansy, and Harry with Neville. Hermione had her seat as far away from Draco’s as possible.

“Today,” Snape began, followed by him giving the instructions for their daily potion. Hermione winced when he said, “Begin,” and she was forced to become partners, finally, with Draco Malfoy.

“Look out, Mudblood; I’m trying to crush these dung beetles.” Draco ordered in an entirely rude way.

Hermione gaped, still in disbelief of her situation that she had been aware of for an entire week. “Malfoy shut up; we both know that I’m better at that so MOVE OVER and let me do it.” She had definitely over shot the whole ‘move over’ phrase. The whole class was staring at her, including Snape.

“Ms. Granger, if you are unnecessarily hostile towards Mr. Malfoy once more, you will receive two weeks worth of detentions. That’ll be sure to smudge up your record a bit, now won’t it?”

“Professor, please; he called me a Mud—,” Hermione began, before she was briskly cut off by Snape.

“Any further argument will result in the same fate. Brew your potion, copy down the homework assignment, and leave my class.”

“Gladly…” Hermione whispered under her breath, barely audible even to the blonde boy sitting next to her.

“Feisty aren’t you, Granger?” Malfoy laughed.

“Just don’t talk to me. I want to finish my potion and get out. When are we going to meet to do the homework?” Hermione asked angrily, not wanting to know the answer. The essay was a 12 inch minimum length about the effects and treatments for the potion they were brewing and studying; she knew it would take a while.

“Look at that, Granger; I knew you always had a thing for me…trying to make a date with me already?” He grinned at her, and she was mortally disgusted.

“Wow, okay, no; never mind, I can do the essay myself,” she breathed haughtily.

“Alright, alright; this has to be a group effort or whatever, so I guess we can meet tomorrow night and Wednesday night in the library to work on it. I have Quidditch practice Thursday and Friday, and a match Saturday morning, but if we need it, we can meet Saturday evening.” Draco said, surprisingly civil.

Hermione sat, stunned. Did Draco Malfoy seriously just talk to her, a whole conversation without biting her head off or insulting her? It must have been some form of a daydream, a long lost wish. But no, what was this? He sat in front of her, apparently waiting for a reply.

“That sounds great; and—thanks for being so, nice-ish.” Hermione stuttered out. The potion was done brewing, her homework was copied down; she abruptly got up and left the potions classroom after putting a ladle-full of the potion in a flask with Hermione and Draco’s names labeled on it.

In the hall, Hermione replayed that classes events in her mind. Draco had started normally, calling her a Mudblood and insulting her. Suddenly, he started trying to bug her, yet not in an extremely mean way. By the end of the class, he was totally civil with her. Hermione was in a daze, an utterly confused daze.

Meanwhile, Draco busted out of the dungeons feeling very confused himself. Why had he just been nice to the snooty Mudblood, Hermione Granger? He had been mean to her for seven years straight, so what was up with this all of a sudden? It was almost as if—no, that couldn’t be possible. Well, logically—still, no.

But away from the confusion of Draco and Hermione, Harry had a free period while Ron had remediation Charms, so he headed up to his dormitory for an hour-long nap. As he approached his four-poster, he saw Hedwig sitting on the window sill with a note attached to her leg. He gave her a treat, and she gave him the letter. Harry opened it, noticing the odd but welcoming scent it held.

Dear Harry,

I’m rather bored today, and I do wish I had something to do. You have always been nice company, one of the few who doesn’t insult me daily. How about you come down to Hagrid’s pumpkin patch at two and we can try to catch some Red-Winged Flabbergasters. They are rather hard to catch, but maybe we’ll get lucky.

Harry smiled at his friend’s strange imagination that he had learned to cope with. Luna was a very nice and extremely misunderstood person. Over the past couple of years, the two had developed a greater bond. They still weren’t amazing friends, but they were very good ones. Harry got a piece of parchment and wrote a quick reply.

Luna,

It’s 1:30 now and I only have an hour break. Meet me down there now and I’d be happy to try and catch…well…whatever they were called. See you there.

Indeed. It's quite odd. Well, since, in all actuality, I just started this FF, I have like none typed up after what I have written so if I have time, I will post a new one tomorrow (Wednesday), but if I'm busy it might be Thursday. (: Don't worry, it won't be long see you.

Hmm, I defo agree with Maxie. It seems to be moving a little too quickly but I guess that's what caught the attention of readers.

Hey guys, this is a kind of short chapter, but it's what I like to call a transition chapter.

Chapter Three

Harry made his way down to the pumpkin patch of Hogwarts’ resident giant. He was looking forward to spending time with Luna. She was wonderful and deserved more friends who would appreciate her. However, Harry hoped that Luna knew that’s all they were: friends. Turning the corner from the main area of Hogwarts, Harry overlooked the countryside and Hagrid’s hut, along with his pumpkin patch, right along the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest. He could already see a shining tuft of blonde hair amongst the burnt orange pumpkins.

When he finally reached Luna he said, “Hello, Luna. How are you doing?”

Luna smiled, “Just fine, Harry; how are you today? It’s lovely out isn’t it?”

Harry nodded. They walked together into the Forbidden Forest to look for…whatever Luna had said they were looking for.

The next day, Hermione was sitting in her four-poster feeling sorry for herself in her free period. It was Tuesday. She and Draco were supposed to meet to do homework in the library tonight at six. She couldn’t believe she was in this predicament. Snape assigned homework heavily every single week. This would be a weekly routine. She huffed and puffed, pouting and having a little pity party. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door and Ginny Weasley stepped in.

“Hey Gin,” Hermione said, moodily.

“Hey Hermione…what’s wrong?” Ginny said, seeing the obvious look of devastation on Hermione’s face.

“Malfoy…” Hermione said simply.

“Oh, Hermione…you’re not on about that again are you?” Ginny said, getting annoyed by the subject, having heard Hermione gripe about it for more than a week now.

“You just don’t understand Ginny.” Hermione said angrily.

Ginny narrowed her eyes, “You just have to make the best out of what you have. He can’t be that bad.”

Hermione laughed sarcastically. “Not that bad? He has tortured me since my first day at Hogwarts. How is that ‘not that bad’?”

Ginny winced. “Yes, okay; I know that’s bad. But still, you should try to forgive and forget. Maybe once he gets to know you things won’t be so bad.”

Hermione rolled her eyes, “I’m just going to take a nap Ginny, okay? I’m exhausted.” Ginny nodded and exited the seventh years’ dorm. Hermione sighed a long sigh and rolled over to go to sleep. Just before she fell asleep, the last thoughts rolling through her head were, “I can’t just forgive him for hurting my feelings so much for so long…I will have to tolerate him, but to say that we could be friends is overstretching it. The only reason I am tolerating him is because I have to. As soon as school is out, I hope to never see him again as long as I live."

Just for reference:

This story is totally out of my usual standards. For one, I usually like Ginny verrrry much & portray her as a great person. In this, it will be a little different. Luna is usually a supporting character and, in this, she is one of the lead roles. I usually don't make up people, & in this, there is a very important made up person to come &&&&&&&& MOSTLY: I have no faith in Draco Malfoy, but in thiiis: he shows a TINY bit of deserving of faith.

Ha. I hope that teased you.

Chapter Four

As much as Hermione was dreading it, five forty-five rolled around and she had to make her way to the library. She exited the seventh years’ dorm and walked through the common room. Harry and Ron were sitting there playing Wizard’s Chess. She sighed, “I’m off to do my homework with the Devil…” Hermione was positive she saw Ron turn a distinct shade of red just then.

“Good luck with that,” Harry said sarcastically.

“Thanks,” Hermione scowled. With this, she exited the common room and made her way to the library. When she got there, she looked at her watch, six on the dot. However, she quickly saw that Draco was already sitting there. He had to of been early. She made her way to the table he had gotten to himself and sat down across from him.

“You were here early?” Hermione said skeptically.

Draco scoffed, “Yes.”

Hermione opened her mouth to say something but then noticed a large stack of books next to Draco. “You got the books?” she said even more surprised than before.

Draco sighed, “Yes. Is that completely unbelievable Granger?” Hermione felt a sting of disappointment that he called her Granger again.

“Fine Malfoy,” she said, stressing his last name, “Let’s get started.”

Right away, Hermione could see that things weren’t going to go well. They couldn’t decide on whose handwriting to use for the essay. Hermione insisted that hers was neater, but Draco insisted that she was the biggest know-it-all ever. Hermione won that battle, only because Draco got fed up. Then, they both started looking in two different books and fought over what to put in the essay. When eight o’clock came around, and the two had been working on the essay for two hours, they had a measly eight lines done.

“I have other homework to get done.” Hermione said, shooting
