Chapter 6:The Perfect Timing

January quickly came and passed at Hogwarts. Before anyone knew it, it was Febuary. Over the next few days, Harry kept getting house points deducted because of his lack of attention in class. It was difficult to focus. He had fallen in love with his best friend and had his heart crushed. Once again Harry had walked in on Hermione and Kevin kissing. He had really wished that they would find some place else to do that. Hermione saw Harry walk by with a sad look on his face and felt real bad. Valentine's Day was coming up soon, which added more pressure on him. He knew that Kevin and Hermione were tighter than ever, and weren't breaking up any time soon. There was going to be a Valentine's Day party. Harry was the only one without a date. There were more than enough girls' asking him, but he wanted to go with Hermione and her alone. For once Kevin joined them at the Gryffindor table. Harry found this very insensative of Hermione. Just then, the owls came flying down with the mail. There was no surprise to find the Dark Mark on the front of the newspaper. Voldemort had struck again. Kevin had received a letter from home. "What is it Kevin?" Hermione asked curiously. "My mother. She's really sick. I'm sorry Hermione, but I'll have to go and miss the party." Kevin said sadly. "It's o.k. Family is way more important than a party. I hope you're mother gets well." Hermione replied honestly. "Thank you for understanding. I'll write to you with updates on her condition." Kevin said gratefully. With that, Kevin kissed Hermione on the cheek and left. Harry felt bad about Kevin's mom, but couldn't help feel lucky for the perfect timing. Later that day in the common room, Harry approched Hermione with a teddy bear that sang and candy. "Thank you Harry. There beautiful." Hermione said thankfully. "Not as beautiful as you." Hermione couldn't help but blush. "I'm sorry about Kevin, but would you like to go to the party with me?" Harry asked hoping Hermione wouldn't get mad that he asked when Kevin wasn't here because of his mother. "Well, I guess it couldn't hurt. I do already have my dress." Hermione replied. "Great. We have exactly an hour to get ready." Harry said happyly. "O.k." Hermione said. Harry was so nervous. Even more nervous than the time he had to face the Horntail. Once again, with Hermione's help he had escaped still breathing. She always seemed to be there for him. That was one of the things Harry loved about her. She was loyal and you could always depend on her for anything.

Chapter 7:The Valentine's Day Party

Harry remembered how beautiful and drop-dead gorgeous Hermione had looked for the Yule Ball, but that was nothing to how she looked now. Back then she was just a 14 year old girl, but now she was a 16 year old woman. Harry looked quite dashing himself. He had 24 long-stemed red roses for Hermione. Hermione had on the most beautiful dress on, with just a beautiful smile. "You look wonderful. These are for you." Harry said as he handed the roses to Hermione. She blushed a very bright red. "Thank you. You look handsome. I see that you actually brushed your hair." Hermione said while admiring her beautiful roses. Harry laughed. "Yeah, I only brushed it for you. Most of the time it's messy because I'm usually fighting Voldemort, Dementors, and dragons." Harry replied. "That is true. I think you look way better with it neatly brushed." Hermione said while continuing to blush. "Thanks. Shall we go?" Harry asked enjoying his great luck to be going with the woman he loves. "Yeah, let's go." As Harry and Hermione left Gryffindor tower, Harry took a chance and held Hermione's hand. She was surprised, but didn't push him away. When they entered the Great Hall, they were very surprised. The Great Hall was colored pink and red. There was special paintings put up all around. One was a handsome young man on his knees, confessing his love for a gorgeous blonde girl. Another was a girl walking into a room to find a million flowers and her shocked expression, and her boyfriend smiling. There was also a booth for anyone who wanted a kiss from a beautiful 7th year woman for 1 galleon. As they continued to walk through the Great hall, people all around started whispering behind their backs. "Is that Harry Potter with his friend Hermione Granger?" People would say. Ron saw Harry with Hermione and gave Harry a congratulations sort of look. Harry wasn't a particularly gifted dancer, but he wanted to dance with Hermione. "Wanna dance?" Harry asked nervously. "Sure Harry. I'd love to." Hermione replied smiling. Harry was blushing the whole time. He could even feel himself getting hotter. He actually managed to not step on Hermione's feet. They danced to three songs and decided to sit down. They watched Ron and Lavender dancing and laughed at how stupid Grabbe and Goyle looked dancing. Their dates didn't seem to want to be there. "Those poor house elfs must have worked like crazy to get the place looking this great." Hermione said while looking around at how much the Great hall had changed. "Probably did. Before I found your obsession to helping house elfs annoying, but now that I like you I find it sweet. You really wanted to help them. Most people don't care and wouldn't have bothered to try." Harry said. "Thanks. Even though I was planning on coming here with Kevin, I'm glad I came with you Harry." Hermione said. "I'm glad too. Any word on Kevin's mother?" Harry asked. "Yeah. Thankfully she's getting better. Kevin apoligized for not being able to be here today. He's sweet that way." Hermione said. "So you guys are still tight?" Harry asked curiously. "I guess." Hermione replied. "Do you want a drink?" Harry asked. "Sure, thanks." Hermione responded. "I'll be right back." As Harry left to get the drinks, he noticed Hermione go out to the grounds. He went after her. When he got outside, he saw that she was crying. "What's wrong?" Harry asked concerned. "I feel terrible." Hermione said still crying. "Why? Don't cry." Harry wiped the tears from her eyes. "I feel like I'm cheating on Kevin with you." Hermione confessed while more tears came down her cheeks. "Why would you feel like that?" Harry asked. "Well... lately I've been having feelings for you. I never expected to feel this way about you. I always thought of you as a friend. When you told me about your feelings for me, I started having feelings of my own for you. I didn't want to believe it because I was with Kevin. But, I can't keep these feelings bottled up inside. Ginny told me what you said. I can't believe you would wait that long for me" Hermione said touched. "I can't believe you finally started having feelings for me. It took you long enough. I've been so patient." Harry said amazed. Hermione laughed. "Yeah, I guess I did take awhile." Said Hermione. "Awhile. You took forever." Harry replied. "What am I going to do about Kevin?" Hermione said worriedly. "Look, apart from me not liking him because he had you, he seems like a good guy." Harry replied. "He is. He treated me so well. He was such a gentleman." Hermione said. "I don't think you should break up with him just yet. Not while his mother's ill." Harry said. "You're right. That wouldn't be fair to him. Can you wait a little longer?" Hermione asked. "To finally be with you, of course." Harry said smiling. "Thanks. I had a great time tonight." Hermione said with a slight blush shade on her cheeks. "I did too. Here's your drink." Harry said. "Oh, I almost forgot about that." Hermione said while taking the drink and sipping it slowly. Harry and Hermione spent the rest of the night talking. When they finally got back to Gryffindor tower at 1 o'clock, they just hugged. Hermione gave Harry a kiss on the cheek and they both blushed. "Good night." Hermione said happyly. "Night." Harry replied. Harry decided to stay up a little longer and enjoy the comfort of the warm fire. He was so happy. Hermione had finally gotten feelings for him. They would soon be together.

Chapter 8:The Breakup

When Harry came down to the common room, he saw Hermione. They were the only two up yet. He walked up behind her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He hoped it would be alright. "Harry! You startled me. Morning." Said Hermione. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. So today Kevin comes back right?" Harry asked. "Yeah, I don't know what to say to him. I remembered what you said about waiting, but I decided that the longer I wait the worst it'll be." Hermione said seriously. "O.k. Well, it is you're decision." Harry replied. Ron came down the stairs with messed up hair and funny p.j.'s. He yawned. "Good morning." Ron said through his yawns. "Morning Ron." said Harry and Hermione together. Harry shot a glance to Hermione that asked if it was alright to tell Ron. She smiled and nodded. "Guess what?" Harry said excitedly. "What?" Ron asked curiously. "Hermione finally came around and she likes me. She's going to break up with Kevin today." Harry said happyly. "Congratulations mate. I'm happy for you two. You really deserve this Harry. After everything that's happened to you." Ron said beaming. "Thanks Ron. I couldn't be happier." Harry said. "I knew you would see the light Hermione." Ron said smirking. "I'm glad I finally did. Well, time for the hard part. Breaking up with Kevin. Harry, come with me? I need your emotional support." Hermione said seriously. "Isn't it kind of early?" asked Ron. "Yeah, I just want to get this over with." Hermione said anxiously. "O.K. Let's go." Harry said. "See you guys." Ron said. They found Kevin on his way to the breakfast table. He turned around and saw Hermione. "Hermione!" Kevin shouted excited to see her. He gave her the biggest hug. "Hi Kevin." Hermione said as casually as she could. "Welcome back." Harry said politely. "Thanks Harry." Kevin said. "Can we talk?" Hermione asked. "O.k. Hermione. First Harry, I would like to thank you for apoligizing to me before. That was decent of you. So Hermione, what did you want to talk about?" Kevin asked calmly. "I want to break up." Hermione didn't mean to sound rude. Kevin's gorgeous face suddenly turned sad. "I'm really sorry. I've met someone else. I know no one likes this line, but I really mean it, I still want to be friends." Hermione said. "O.k. I understand, at least you were honest. I do still want to be friends." Kevin said calmly. "Good, I'm glad." Hermione said relieved that he was taking the break up so well. "So it's Harry, isn't it?" Kevin asked already knowing the answer. "Yes it is." Hermione replied. "Well I figured. You wouldn't have punched me for nothing. I hope you know how lucky you are." Kevin said to Harry. "I know. Hermione is one of a kind." Harry responded. "You better treat her right." Kevin said a little over-protectively. "I will." Harry said back. Kevin smiled, bent down and gave Hermione a kiss on the cheek. Then he peacefully left. "I'm so glad that's over." said Hermione relieved. "Me too." Harry replied. "Let's go to Hogsmeade later to celebrate." Said Hermione. "O.K. Right after classes finish. You want to bring Ron?" Harry asked hoping she didn't. "Are you kidding. I want you all to myself." Hermione said with a wonderful smile on her face. Harry smiled. He gave Hermione such a passionate kiss.

AWW! All to himself. Very selfish, Harry. lol PAMS! PAMS! I think that Kevin took the break-up a little to well. I wonder . . .

Chapter 9:Hogsmeade And More

Harry and Hermione had a wonderful time at Hogsmeade. They visited Zonko's Joke Shop, the Sheriking Shack, and the Three Broomsticks. They enjoyed some butterbeers and making snowmen. They returned to Hogwarts with smiles on their faces. They had had a wonderful day, until they saw something both shocking and disgusting. They saw Draco and Ginny kissing in a corner. Of course there wasn't even miseltoe anymore because it wasn't christmas. Hermione was in disbelief and broke them apart. "Are you crazy, that's Malfoy you're kissing." Hermione said in shock and disgust. "I know Hermione, but Draco and I like eachother." Ginny said. "Are you serious?" Asked Harry not believing his eyes. "Do you know what you're saying? I mean this is Malfoy we're talking about." Hermione asked looking at Draco with a disgusted look on her face. "Yes, I'm serious. You guys don't know Draco like I do. I would also appriciate it if you let me tell Ron." Ginny said seriously. "I wouldn't want to be the one who told Ron anyway." said Harry seriously. "Not that I like it, but I won't tell Ron either. He's going to be furious." said Hermione a little scared for Ginny. "Thank you." Ginny replied. "You better treat her right." said Harry like an over-protective big brother. "I will Harry, I promise." Said Draco. Harry couldn't believe that Draco had just called him "Harry" instead of "Potter". "The good thing is that Ginny is a pureblood and even though our fathers' don't get along, my father can't object because she is a pureblood." Said Draco confidently. "I'll see you later Draco. I'm off to tell Ron about us." Ginny said nervously. "O.k. Good luck." Draco said back. She gave Draco a kiss on the cheek and a hug goodbye. Both Harry and Hermione were really worried about how Ron was going to react. Harry knew this wasn't going to be easy for anyone to get use to. Hermione knew this wasn't going to be pleasant.
