Hey everyone! I can't believe I let this FF get inactive. I wasn't even thinking... I'm sorry!
To make it up I have a really long post. Enjoy! Chapter 14: Double Trouble
I walked silently up the castle. Tears rolled down my cheeks no matter how hard I tried to stop them. I held my left arm with my right one. The pain was ceasing but I couldn't bear to look at that hideous mark on my skin. I trudged up to the girl's dormitory and entered my dorm. The entire girl's were already sleeping. I pulled the covers down and climbed in with my clothes still on. I lay there with my eyes open, replaying the night.
Draco's words replayed in my head. You know, you're a loser. He had said. I thought you'd never give up, but I guess I was wrong.
I was angry at him for saying that. What gave him the right to come saying things like that to me? It hurt me. I thought you'd never give up. What did he mean by that? He only knew me for a few months, how would he know I would never give up? What did he know about my courage?
I guess I finally fell asleep because next morning I awoke from loud shouting.
"He only dated you to get back at me for being with Krum!" said the voice which sounded like Hermione's voice.
"The only reason Ron dated me was because he loved me!" came the shouting voice that sounded like Lavender's.
"Then why do you think he broke up with you?" Hermione shouted at her.
I slowly opened my eyes and watched the scene. Hermione and Lavender were standing in the middle of the room, Hermione with her hands on her hips and Lavender with her hands lying at her sides dangerously. Hermione's hair was sticking up at all sides. She clearly hadn't brushed it yet.
"Well," Lavender said, her face turning red. "Things didn't…" she stopped, "That's none of your business!"
"See!" Hermione pointed with her finger. "He never really loved you!"
"Yes he did!"
"You just admitted it. Things didn't work out between you two. That means he never loved you and you two weren't meant for each other."
"You don't know what you're talking about," Lavender shouted in her soft-angry voice. "It's pointless talking to you if you aren't willing to listen, so I'm not going to waste my words!" and with that Lavender stormed out of the room leaving an angry Hermione.
"She's the one who never listens," Hermione muttered under her breath.
"Tell me about it," I said.
Hermione jumped. "What the-?" she yelped and when she realized it was me she smiled. "You scared me!"
"Sorry," I said with a half smile.
"Did we wake you? I'm really sorry, Lavender just get's on my nerves sometimes."
"S'okay," I yawned. "Are you and Ron a couple?" I wanted to know.
Hermione blushed. "No, why would I go out with Ron?" she was silent for a moment. "Anyway," she said changing the subject. "Where were you last night? You missed the big drama of Ginny and Dean breaking up.
"Oh," I said and my right arm flew over to my left to cover the mark. I was in the library till late. I had to finish the Charms homework."
Hermione nodded. "Well you better get dressed, you missed breakfast and we have potions in" -she looked at her watch-"five minutes!"
"What?" I yelled and jumped out of bed. What a perfect morning.
"I'll see you there," said Hermione. "I don't want to mess with Snape."
I didn't watch her leave. I ran straight to my trunk and pulled out my robes. I pulled off my clothes from the night before and then remembered that I hadn't showered in a while so I hopped into the shower.
Ten minutes later I came out wearing fresh robes. I didn't have time to do my hair. I grabbed my bag and dashed out of the common room all the way down to Snape's classroom in the dungeons. I stopped right in front of the door to catch my breath. Slowly, I opened the door. Snape was writing potion ingredients on the board. I got down on my hands and knees and began crawling to the chair at the end of the room, begging that Snape wouldn't notice. I was half there…
"Miss Attanment!" Snape shouted.
I froze.
"Get up this instant!" He ordered.
I slowly got up. My cheeks were burning as the whole class turned to look at me. I could hear snickers from the Slytherin's end. I tried not to look at Draco even though I knew he was probably one of the Slytherin's laughing at me.
"You're late," he said angrily. "Do you think that a student who is half an hour late can just waltz into this classroom?"
I didn't answer.
"Do you?" he asked again.
"I wasn't waltzing, I was crawling!" I corrected him with a grin forming at my lips. I knew this would annoy Snape.
"Why doesn't Miss Atanment share with the class the reason she was late?" Snape smirked.
I glared at him. "That is for me to know and for you to find out!" I smiled. I knew that he and the rest of the school would find out about my black mark sooner or later. It's not easy hiding a black snake branded into your skin.
I had hit the right spot. He got very angry right now.
"That's it, fifty points form Gryffindor for you disrespect and thirty points for your lateness!"
My mouth dropped open. "Excuse me?"
"What you heard," he sneered. "Now take your seat unless you want me to take down another fifty points."
I walked to my seat and through my bag down before sliding in. I counted down the minutes until the end of class. Finally the bell rang. Snape called out the homework and dismissed us. I gathered my things and turned to walk out with Hermione.
"Lorly, you better be careful with him next time," said Hermione.
"He deserved every bit of it!" I snapped.
"But you just lost the house eighty points!" she pointed out.
"Don't make me feel any worse that I already do, okay?" I snapped at her.
Behind me I heard the last voice on earth that I wanted to hear right now.
"Good job Attanment!" Draco cheered. "You should do it more often. Before you know it, Slytherin will be winning the House championship."
I spun around. "Shut it Malfoy!" I said.
"Oooh!" Pansy and her Slytherin gang booed.
"Careful or you might lose yourself another hundred points!" said Malfoy.
"If you don't watch it I'll make you eat all of the Slytherin crystals until you have no more points!" I snapped.
"That might just be you Attanment. I’ll take pictures, don't worry." He smirked.
I could see from the corner of my eye Harry and Ron taking out their wands.
"Watch your neck Malfoy," Harry spat.
"Harry," I whispered, "please let me take care of this. I will take care of him once and for all." I turned back to Draco and took out my wand. "Are you afraid to duel?" I asked with a smirk
Draco took out his wand. "You wish," he sneered and all the Slytherin's and Gryffindor's backed to the sides of the dungeons excitedly.
I ran some spells through my head. I tried to remember what was in the book Harry had lent me about duels.
"Artifious!" I yelled and Draco moved out of the way.
"Manileputa!" Draco yelled next and the orange spell came right toward me hitting me square in the chest. I felt myself being lifted off the ground and smashed into the dungeon wall. I fell flat on my face. The Slytherin's laughed and cheered Draco on.
I heard Harry Hermione and Ron asking me if I was alright. I nodded and got on my feet. My face showed hatred and anger. With one quick hand movement I yelled,
"Shentestifia!" and Draco did a summer salt in mid-air and came crashing down.
"Go Lorly!" I heard Ron and some Gryffindor's yell.
I smiled proudly, but it was wiped off as a spell out of no where sent me flying all the way across the hall. I held onto the stone wall and stood up. I was unhurt but my robes were torn at all sides.
"What is going on here?" someone yelled.
My heart sank. I turned around and came face to face with Professor McGonagall. Anger was written all over her face. I knew I would not be able to get away with this one.
"Miss Atanment would you care to explain?" she yelled at me in a stricken voice.
"I was just straightening a few things with my dear friend Malfoy," I explained.
"You both know fully well that there is no fighting in the corridors! I don't understand why two houses have to start Word War Three."
"It wasn't my-" Draco began to say.
"-Mr. Malfoy," professor McGonagall yelled. "I would keep you mouth shut if I were you. The best punishment would be to settle this out between yourselves. A few months sharing a common room should do."
"WHAT?!" Draco and I yelled at the same time.
