The once nice brown colored door is now the color magenta thanks to one Mr. Daniel McDean. If you are looking to talk to the Department Head, just know you have come to the right place if you have been directed to a magenta door. There is a plaque stuck onto the door that reads:

You will notice a few odd colored things around the room once you have entered the office, and thank merlin none of things are magenta! An orange desk is centered towards the back of the room, and it's piled up with different sorts of papers that the Department Head finds important. On top of one of the piles of papers, there is a jar full of green lollipops. If you are in the need for something sweet, treat yourself to one of the lollipops in the jar -- just don't take them all! There are three chairs located in the room, and they're all located near the desk. An orange chair is positioned just behind the desk; this chair is for the Department Head. Two red armchairs are positioned just in front of the desk; these chairs are for the guests.

A bookshelf is found on the left side of the room, and it's filled with many different types of books. On the top shelf, though, there is a collection of Shakespeare books that look like they have been read a gazillion times... and they have been! Sam is a BIG Shakespeare fan. There is also one picture on the shelves, and the picture was taken years and years ago since Sam is only 5 years old in it; the picture is of the whole McDean family before Sam's father died.

There is nothing on the other side of the office except a blank wall, but Sam is thinking of putting something there eventually.

Need to talk to the Department Head? Just knock on the door and wait for Sam to call you inside!

Benjamin walked into the MLE offices. Today, the new Head was supposed to start. Ben was a little upset that he didn't get the job, but he didn't expect to. He'd only been around in the office for a year and there were more qualified people in the world. Yet, NONE of them had the detective skills as Ben.

As he walked by the Head's office. He saw that they already moved in. Ben fixed his suit, adjusted his Fedora and knocked on the door, hoping he would be able to introduce himself to the new Head.

Dan liked barging in on his brother. He was good at it. He had done it for a lot of his adolescent life until he had moved away to China.

He saw some guy knocking on the door, but ignored him. He was a McDean, and he had the power to do what he wanted when it came to his brother. And that was why he opened the door all the way when he saw that it had been slightly ajar.

"Hey, Sammy!" he called out as he walked right over to the desk and took a seat in a chair. "Nice place. So much better than Level 3. But the lack of a pink desk is a shame.." Maybe he would be nice to Sam and give him a new one so that he wouldn't miss it too much. "I know how much you love pink."

"No, that's cool. Just barge into the office even though I'm waiting here," Benjamin said sarcastically as he was surprised to see someone just barge into the office. Someone NOT in the MLE. He may have also let out a Rorschach "Hurm," as he looked into the office he was waiting out side of. Ben raised an eyebrow at this man's attitude. Must be a relative of some sort... Or someone very rude. Ben thought it was best to stay outside.

Samuel was going through some of his filing cabinet papers because he sorta needed to know who the Division Heads were, so, if he saw them, he could introduce himself properly. He had just gotten through three folders when he heard a knock upon his door. Oh, yayyyy! He had guests! Placing the folder back into the cabinet, he closed it before standing up, but then he heard the door open...

Didn't people know to WAIT? Impatient people! It was only when he realized it was Dan that walked in that it wasn't him that knocked on the door, but the guy that was still standing outside.

"Hey Dan," he greeted his brother. "I don't think it's better than Level 3." He missed Level 3! He had friends down there that he wouldn't get to see on a regular basis anymore. "Um, yeah, no. Don't touch this desk." His brother would be kicked out if he turned his desk pink. If he did, he was so talking Wes into giving him enough paper work to work on for a MONTH.

He took his attention away from his desk to look at the man still standing outside, and he motion him inside the office. "Come on in!" He exclaimed. He didn't want the man to think he had to stay outside just because Dan was here! "I'm Samuel McDean, Department Head."

That was so typical of his brother. "Don't let the power get to your head," he warned as he leaned back on the chair and looked around. It was a really nice set up. More than Sam deserved really. He had only got this job because he was a suck up, not by actually doing work to deserve it.

In that case, it would have been Dan in this office while his brother was back sitting at a pink desk. "And what are you gonna do if I touch the desk?"

Oh thank god the Head is not like the... Brother? Brother. Ben would have to transfer to that education opening if he was... And Ben hated any education that didn't help him harness his detective skills. Ben smiled as he was invited inside. As he approached the man his smile turned into his charming smile. "Hello, there," he said offering a hand, "Detective Benjamin Amsten." Although, there was no title when you were in the MLE. Ben was a detective and he wanted people to know that. Ben let go. "How do you like the office so far?" he asked.

"I'll have to escort you out of here," Ben said with a smirk. He then did a quick scan of the man. Hm... Must be a few years older. Works in level three. Confidence suggests arrogance and/or Division Head status. "You know first impressions can go a long way. Better luck next time," he added sarcastically to the brother. "Detective Ben Amsten," he said holding out a hand with a smirk.

Sam was NOT letting the power go to his head! No way. And he was not going to let Daniel McDean make him think he was. He rolled his eyes at his brother, but said nothing more. He didn't have to argue that he wasn't letting the power go to his head, right? RIGHT.

"I can ask Wes to give you TONS of paper work," he replied. Oh, yeahhh. He had connections now, and he dared Daniel to try and cross the line! DARED. HIM.

Samuel shook the man's hand. "It's nice to meet you, Detective Ben," he said. "I can call you Ben, yes? Or do you prefer Benjamin?" He didn't want to end up calling him something he didn't want to be called! "Oh, I love this office. Though, I have to admit. It's a big step from Level 3." He was beginning to wonder now if this Level was just as crazy as Level 3. Probably not.

He tried SO HARD to hold back his laugh when Ben started talking to Dan. First impressions can go a long way? BWAHAHA. He liked this man already! "What Division do you work for?" He curiously asked.

"Oh, of course." Ben said. "I usually like to introduce myself formerly, then go from there." Ben thought about it for a moment. "May I call YOU Sam?" He added with a smile.

"Oh, don't worry about things being hectic here. Everyone's pretty good about staying chill." Ben's smile dropped for a moment. "And we've been bored out of our minds for the longest time. We barely get any cases anymore. It usually just goes to another department and we only come in when they need a warrant or need to use our facilities. And things got interesting for a few weeks when we got a new Division Head and now a new Department Head." Ben's smile returned. "But it's no problem, school years starting and there's GOTTA be something going on at Hogwarts." It's like there were people writing just problems to happen there...

His smile widened and he let out a laugh as he could tell Samuel was holding back laughter. That was my goal. Alright. Starting out good with the new Head. "MLES. Although, since the office change, we've all become just one meshed up department."

He glanced over to the man he had seen outside when he told Dan he would escort him out. "Not needed. I can be in here to welcome my older brother to his new office." And that was that. If anyone tried forcing him out, they would feel the wrath of Dan McDean. "Daniel McDean." He took the guy's hand and shook it before letting go again.

Then he turned to his brother. "Don't you think that's a bit harsh? Just for touching your desk?"

Samuel glanced over at the blank wall of the office, wondering what he should put there. Maybe some plants? Then again, he didn't want his office spelling like a forest. Maybe some pictures? That sounded good, but he didn't know what the pictures could be off. Hmmm.

Looking back at Ben, he nodded his head. "Yes, you may. I actually prefer Sam over Samuel," he replied. As much as he preferred Sam, he knew he was going to have to sign stuff using his full name; it was more professional like.

That was something he was going to have to get use to because he was use to waking up in the morning just thinking about all the hectic stuff that might happen that day. "You guys barely get any cases? Weird," he commented. He was going to need to get something going on in this Department before boredom really did hurt someone. "I must meet the new Division Head! Well, actually, I need to meet all the Division Heads." He was going to do that later. MHMM. "You never know what's going to happen at Hogwarts." There was so much crazy stuff going on there when he attended that school.

MLES. Magical Law Enforcement Squad. He was making a mental note of that as we speak. "Oh, yes, the office change. Don't you guys like working together in one big office?" He asked.

Turning back to Daniel, he shook his head. He didn't think it was harsh AT ALL. Knowing his brother, instead of just touching his desk, he would break it or something. "Let's just keep a distance from my desk," he said. "I don't want it to be turned pink." Like his brother had done to his last desk. He felt bad for the new Division Head that had to put up with his old desk!

"Well okay then, Sam." Ben said with a smile. He liked his new Head. Seemed like a cool guy.

Ben let out a laugh when he said he had to meet all of the division heads. "Yes. Let's see... Erik is great. He's head of MLES. Forrester, head of the Aurors is great as well. Blackstone, IMproper use of magic... is... Um... A little unprofessional for me, and he rarely shows up." There was someone else, but Ben couldn't put his finger on it.... He suddenly remembered why. "Oh yeah. I've actually never officially met the last Division Head. Even after working here for a year and a half." Ben never saw them.... He didn't even know his/her name.

Ben shrugged. "I liked things the old way, personally. We did our own thing without being bugged by the other offices, but if the Ministry thinks this works..." Not to mention Ben met his girlfriend in the office.

Dan gasped at his brother. Acting as usual. And he was a darn good actor, so it was very convincing. Dan was always convincing, because he was the best actor that had ever lived or would ever live. It was a shame really that he had decided not to pursue it as a career. The world was missing out on his amazing talent.

"I would never turn your new desk pink, Sam." Didn't stop him from doing that to something else in his office though.

...LITTLE unprofessional? Samuel had to raise an eyebrow at that. Hopefully that wasn't too true. Maybe this man just had a think against this Blackstone guy and was trying to make him look bad, but maybe it was true? He was just going to have to find out for himself when he visited the work area, which was going to be as soon as he got out of here. "Rarely shows up? Does he work from home?" He asked. He was going to need to do something about this! He needed all his Division Heads here. "Are any Division Heads in the work area now? Do you know? Or our they out on Lunch break?"

He nodded his head in recognition. "I see," he replied. "I think it will work once we all get use to the new set up. It might take some time, but look at it this way! You'll get to make new friends with the other employees. That's always a plus, right? And if you need help from the other Division, they'll be right there to assist you." He didn't really see anything wrong with the remodeling, but he maybe wrong. Who knew? It could be just him.

Dan's presence was just making Sam even MORE frustrated. It was just a brother thing, really. The least his brother could do was help him unload that last box of books, but nooooo, he had to sit there and just be annoying. "Sure you wouldn't," he replied. If he hadn't turned his Level 3 desk pink, then he might have believed him. "Shouldn't you be back at work? I'm sure Wes is wondering where his Division Head went."

He smiled at Sam despite the fact that his brother was being as big a pain as he always managed to be. "I wouldn't dream of doing that." He put his one leg over the other and leaned back in the chair before looking around at the office. Sam really needed to clean the place up and put all of his junk away.

"I'm on break right now and decided to visit my brother who I love dearly. What's so wrong with that?"

Ben saw that Sam raised an eyebrow so he put up his hand and said, "Don't worry. I wouldn't sabotage anyone's position or career." Ben adjusted his Fedora and looked at the blank wall. Hm... Wonder what he's going to put there...

"I actually don't know where they are... I just got here, had some personal business with my father this morning; so I haven't seen anyone in the office yet." It was his second doctor's appointment this week. Things weren't going good with him.

Ben smiled. "Sure! Already met some great people." Priya... "I think we're all just used to old operations. But we're pretty much settled now." Ben normally would head to his desk right about now, but there was nothing to do...

"You don't happen to have any cases for us, do you?"

Lies. Complete LIES. Did he really think that he would believe him? That he would believe, at this very moment, that Daniel wasn't thinking of ways to torture him? Yeah, RIGHT. Daniel knew that if he turned something pink, that Samuel would freak, so he was bound to be thinking about changing his desk color; Sam knew he was!

"I can find a few things wrong with that," he responded. One being that Daniel wasn't at all fond of him at all. He looked down at his watch, and then he looked back at his brother. "You don't have too much more of a break left according to my watch. It's going to take you at least 5 minutes to get back to Level 3, so maybe heading up there now wouldn't be such a bad idea?"

Samuel didn't mind that this man was talking about the other Division Heads because it was good to know Ben's opinion about the heads of the Divisions. Plus, whatever was said in this office wasn't kept in this office, so Ben had nothing to worry about when it came to the other Division Heads knowing that he was talking about them. "It's fine," he replied. "I'm glad to hear your opinions on the other Division Heads."

He followed Ben's gaze towards the empty wall. "Any suggestions on what should go there?" He was up for any suggestions as long as they weren't girly or anything.

If they weren't at Lunch, and then his chances of finding them in the work area was pretty high. At least that's what Sam thought. He nodded his head to acknowledge the fact that he understood why he had just got here, and he wanted to ask if everything was okay with his father, but decided if Ben wanted to say anymore, he would.

He was about to comment on the employees getting use to the old operations, but he was thrown off by the sudden question about cases. "As of right now, I don't think I do, but..." He waved his hand to the papers on his desk. "Hopefully, one of those papers will be a case we can work on." Hopefully. "If I find a case, I'll let you all know as soon as possible. Even if I don't find a case, I'll find something for you guys to work on. Hopefully you all won't be bored for long!"

Benjamin smiled knowing that the Head didn't take him the wrong way.

He looked again. "Hm..." He looked back at Sam. "What about that painting of the dogs playing cards? But we could charm it so that they were moving." he liked that idea. He would have to do that for his cubicle if he got the chance.

He looked at the papers. "Yeah, hopefully." He looked back up with his usual smile and he adjusted his Fedora.

He looked at his briefcase which was getting heavy, and then towards the door, and then towards Sam. "Well, I will head for my desk now." That was the easiest way to say it. "It's a pleasure to meet you, once again." He waited for Sam to say anything else before he left.

Dan was starting to get annoyed now. He wanted to bug visit his older brother in peace, and the man was being a mean butthead.

"So I can't come here and talk to you now, Sam?"

Hmm, dogs playing cards? Samuel glanced back up at the wall, trying to get a mental picture of what it would look like. "I'll think about it," he said. "Thanks for the suggestion." He was most definitely just going to keep it blank for a while until he knew exactly what he wanted to place there. Plus, it didn't look half bad with a blank wall... okay, maybe it did, but who cares?

He was leaving? He sure hoped Dan wasn't the reason he was rushing off now! "Okay, Ben. It was nice meeting you," He exclaimed. "Do tell the Division Heads I'll be meeting up with all of them later if you see them around."

Sigh.

Samuel headed over to his orange rolling chair, and then he sat down. His brother didn't seem like he wanted to leave anytime soon so that either meant one of those things: 1) he had something he wanted to tell him or 2) he just really wanted to annoy him at the moment. He knew his brother was probably just wanting to annoy him, but there was only one way to actually find out...

"Do you have anything you want to talk about?"

Dan managed not to smirk as he studied his brother carefully. He couldn't really stand to be in this office, but he wasn't leaving just yet. He had things he wanted to do, and he didn't want to go to work on Level 3 again just yet. He still was on break for a little bit longer.

And now Sam was wanting to know if Dan had anything he wanted to talk about.

"I dunno, Chewy. Maybe I do. Though it doesn't seem you want to listen to me."

he smiled and said, "I will." He then took one last look around the office, and then looked bac at the brother. "Pleasure." He then walked out the door and headed to his desk...

Sam opened the glass jar that was sitting on his desk and pulled out a lollipop before leaning back in his chair. He knew that he needed to get a few things done in his office as far as organizing went and he also needed to go see his other employees, but he was NOT walking off and leaving Daniel here. No way! That would be such a mistake on his part if he just left his brother in his office.

He waved goodbye to Ben before turning back to Dan. Before he could comment on what he was just called, he stuck the lollipop in his mouth. That would keep him quiet until his brother finished talking, mhmm. Honestly, he didn't WANT to listen to Dan. What was the point really? Most of the stuff that was said to him by Dan was insulting. If he wanted to be mean, he would have kicked him out already, but he was trying to be the nice one.

"I am listening to you, Dan," he said. "What do you want to talk about?"

Erik walked up to the new Department Head's office and looked over his shoulder half expecting that irritable little rent-a-cop security head to be following him. Seeing no one he knocked on the door with his hands in his pockets and bouncing lightly on the balls of his feet.

Wow. Sam actually seemed to believe that there was something serious that Dan wanted to talk about. After being brothers for 20 years, Dan would have figured that Sam would know that nothing was ever good about these talks.

Well, not on Dan's end. Dan's end was rather enjoyable.

"I just wanted to tell you that I think a slug would be a better Department Head than you and that you really should have stayed with us on Level 3." Though maybe he should throw something else in. "Congratulations, Chewy."
