The Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes
Hosted by: Miss Lissy Lou

As you enter the room, the first thing that catches your eye is the figure of Wesley Kutcher, who is standing near the entrance. To his right is a giant poster board, and as soon as you fully enter the room, he smiles at you. "Hello there! Ready to get started?" Without waiting for a response, he flies right into his lesson.

"Numerous things can go wrong in a magical household—especially when there are children around. Still, if your three year old accidentally brings your mop to life, do you really want to haul the mop all the way to the Ministry just to perform a simple spell that you could have done yourself? Of course not! Unfortunately, many fully grown wizards do not know the simplest spells that can save them the hassle if such a situation arises. Many witches and wizards actually HAVE learned these spells in the past, but in the panic of the moment, they seem to magically forget. Never fear! Just review these simple spells and the next time your toddler gets a hold of your wand, you’ll be able to handle the situation without having to get the Ministry to lend a hand!"

OOC note: Some of these spells are canon spells, some are made up, and others are found in the film versions. Just a heads up!

He points to the board next to him. "Here is just a simple list of spells that can help you out around the house...there are many, many other handy household charms you can learn, of course, but I think these will help you the most!"

Quote:
Aresto Momentum - used to slow down objects. Perfect for catching that runaway frying pan so you can transform it back to it’s original state.

Color-Changing Charm – did little Timmy accidentally turn little Judy’s hair green in the midst of a sibling spat? Never fear—performing the charm once more can change her hair back to blonde in no time!

Deletrius- erases magical marks and images (like those Quidditch players your kids drew with ink on the wall)

Diminuendo-changes enlarged objects to their original size

Finite – one of the most well known charms, is used to negate the effects of a charm and essentially undo it, although some charms may be too powerful for this spell to stop completely.

Homorphus Charm – causes transformed objects to change back into their original state (non-verbal)
"Another common issue that we see on Level Three all the time is potions gone wrong. You MUST PAY ATTENTION when brewing your potions, as even the smallest mistake can alter the effects of the potion tremendously. Below we have some examples of famous potions and what will happen if they are brewed improperly." he explains before turning to the board once again and pointing to the bottom part of the poster.

Quote:
SPOILER!!: Shrinking Solution

Ingredients: chopped daisy roots, skinned shrivelfig, sliced caterpillar, one rat spleen, dash of leech juice

Things that may go wrong if the potion is brewed incorrectly:

* some parts of the body may shrink and some may stay normal, causing uneven proportions.
* Things may permanently shrink.
* If you use too many rat spleens the potion MAY become poisonous

Common problems in this potion and how to correct them:

*If you see the potion turn orange instead of bright green, that means you’ve added too many rat spleens. To fix this, simply three more sliced caterpillars and one handful more of daisy roots (be sure the daisy roots are PROPERLY CHOPPED) until the potion turns to the acid green it is supposed to be.

*Be sure the roots are PROPERLY CHOPPED. If they’re not, the potion may look a bit yellow. To fix this, add one more dash of leech juice every five minutes until the potion is green once more.

SPOILER!!: Calming Draught

Ingredients: 1 armadillo bile, 1 ginger root, 2 drops of hellebore, 2 leaves of lovage powdered moonstone, 2 crushed scarab beetles

Things that may go wrong if the potion is brewed incorrectly:
*The person who takes the potion may become even more hyper or distressed than they were before. Depending on how the potion was brewed, these effects may last a few hours to months on end.

Common problems in this potion and how to correct them:

*If you add too many drops of hellebore, the potion will turn dark blue, rather than purple. If you continue onwards and don’t correct this problem, the potion will NOT be able to be fixed! Before adding the lovage, add two more ginger roots and stir the potion 10 times counterclockwise.
"These are just a few examples of what can happen if you DON’T pay attention while brewing potions. Regardless of what potion you are brewing, you must ALWAYS go slowly and TAKE YOUR TIME while brewing! If you see that anything is EVER off while brewing, STOP and look over the instructions again to figure out where you went wrong, and how to correct the problem."

"With that being said, stay safe and happy brewing, and good luck!"
Wes says with a wink before turning to the next group that enters the room to begin his presentation all over again.
****

In the room you have just entered, you now start to notice that there are numerous charmed objects flying around. There are numerous mops that are walking around, getting water all over the floor.

Above you, someone has transfigured some poor canaries into teacups, although the spell was not properly cast and their bright yellow wings are coming out of the sides of the teacups. Not only that, but they're flying around at super speed, making it nearly impossible to catch them!

Finally, there are a number of stuffed pygmy puff toys, all of which have been enlarged to the size of bean bag chairs, making it very difficult to get around!

Near the end of the room, by the door, there is a giant cauldron with a bright yellow potion inside. Next to he cauldron, there are numerous quills all piled up on te table. Clearly this potion has not been brewed correctly! If you read the tiny little notecar that is taped on the bottom of the Wes' giant poster, you see the following message:

Quote:
You will pass the next room WHEN:
-You successfully fix one of the charmed objects in the room
-You fix the potion that was brewed incorrectly and use it successfully on one of the quills.

OOC: You MAY RP the objects as you change them back, and you may RP the feather having whatever reaction to the potion you want BUT keep in mind that I reserve the right to take over control of these things if you fail to read directions/RP incorrectly/I just feel like causing mischief

Stepping into the room Skander looked around with interest, pleased to notice that not too many people were already in the room. This challenge seemed like it could be interesting and it was definitely useful when it came to the household. Especially for when he was babysitting for his friends.

Smiling Skander listened carefully to the instructions before looking around the room for something to try out his new knowledge of. The first thing his eyes alighted on were the canaries that had been turned into tea cups. Smiling he decided that that was what he'd try his luck on.

That decided he now needed to work out what spells to use to fix the problem. Looking back at the board Skander decided that this would require the use of two spells not just one. That decided he removed his wand from his holster and pointed it at one of the tea-cups.

"Aresto Momentum," Skander exclaimed putting the right amount of force behind the spell and feeling gratified to see the tea-cup he'd aimed at slowing in speed. Now to change it back to it's original form. For that he would need to use the Homorphus Charm. Nodding decisively Skander kept his eyes trained on the tea-cup, waiting for the right moment to strike.

As the tea-cup came over his head Skander thought the spell hard gratified to see the tea-cup turn into the canary within a few seconds. This was kind of fun.

Now what else did he need to do? Ahh right the cauldron with the yellow liquid inside. That would be part of the test surely. Decided upon the fact Skander wandered closer and saw the ingredients provided next to the potion for his use. But first to identify which potion it was.

Looking back at the board for a frame of reference Skander let out a low sound of satisfaction when he realised that his guess was right. He was dealing with the Shrinking Solution when the daisy roots hadn't been chopped correctly. To fix it he would need to add a dash of leech juice every five minutes.

Looking at his watch he picked the leech juice up, waiting until it was exactly five past to pour the dash of juice in. The potion slowly changed colour, but it still wasn't the green it needed to be. Therefore he waited an extra five minutes and added another dash. After repeating the process another four times, six times in total the potion finally returned to the green it was meant to be.

Stepping back, satisfied with his work Skander waited to be given the key to the next level of this challenge. It was at that time that he saw that he needed to use the potion on one of the quills. Grabbing a vial out of his pocket he put a tiny pit of the potion in there and placed the feather inside too. It began to shrink immediately. Now he was done the challenge and could relax before moving to the next level.

quill ooc: wasn't exactly sure how much we were supposed to answer for ourselves.
Slytherin by heart

Armand had peered in, gotten the information, then decided to take a moment to compose himself. After all, no one was here yet. However, when he walked back in, someone was in the room. He sighed. If he was going to stay ahead, it would be no more breaks. Seeing as how the room was full of large objects, and he wasn't exactly a small person, he decided to take care of what was underfoot. With a flick of his wrist, his wand came forth once more. "Diminuendo," he cast at the pygmy puff toy that seemed to obstruct his path the most.

The next part... the cauldron of potion. A bit yellow... it was bright yellow! Considering the examples they were given, the best assumption would have to be that it was a Shrinking Solution in which the daisy roots were not chopped properly. With a sigh he picked up what seemed to be the leech juice and added a dash, checking the time and waiting. Five minutes... Were they kidding? They didn't really have time for this. And he would have been incredibly bored if his mind hadn't been on the reason he was putting so much effort into this. And he did get bored easily...

Between adding the leech juice every five minutes, he occupied his mind with small games. Noting small differences in pygmy puff toys, pondering the numbers of straw in each broom, and even figuring out how to take advantage of a novice attempting a four-move checkmate.

He was immensely relieved when the potion was the green that it was supposed to be, as he no longer had to occupy his mind. It was normally used by being ingested, which made him curious about the quills. After a moment of thought, he looked up at the flying canary teacups. "Aresto momentum." He slowed and caught one of the teacups, held the wings to the side so they wouldn't flap, and carefully took a little of the potion with it. There was probably a container, vial or other, that would have been more suitable, but he found this amusing.

He took up one of the quills and let the tip sit in the liquid so that it would pull it up the same as it would ink. If that didn't work to shrink the thing, he would just douse it. After all, what did he need a shrinking solution for with inanimate objects when he could simply do it with a spell?

The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas.

Stepping into the next challenge with an air of nothingness, Darius looked around, spotting their teacher - or whoever you'd call her - and listened as she described what they had to do. His eyebrow quirked up in ridiculousness as he listened, a small smirk lighting his lips as he crossed his arms. After she finished speaking he walked in further, his mind set on the goals ahead. He would definitely need this experience for when his child grew up. At that thought his eyes light up from their dark blue color to a lighter shade, a far away look in his eye.

Stopping suddenly he noticed how... weird everything was and blinked. Flicking his hand his wand shot out into his hand, his fingers clenching it tightly as he skittered around a giant pygmy puff stuffed creature looking for something. It wasn't that hard to find what he needed, the yellow canary tea cup...things flying around at top speed. Ducking as one came close to hitting him in the head, Darius stepped over to the wall, keeping close to it as he tried to remember the spell he needed. What was it again... oh right!

"Aresto Momentum,"
he stated clearly, pointing his wand at the closest teacup canary thing and hoping it hit. He watched as the spell he cast sped towards the object, hitting it directly. Blinking he walked up to it, knowing exactly what spell to use. He stood there, his hands to the side, wand dangling slightly as he looked up, waiting with patient ease for the tea cup canary to fly overhead. When it did he thought hard about the Homorphus Charm which he would need to make the object turn back into its original shape. Easy peasy he thought before realizing he had ruined the spell and watched as the canary tea cup flew off.

Signing he walked on after it, moving ahead of it and concentrating hard on the Homorphus Charm. This time when the canary flew overhead he was ready and struck, casting the spell non-verbally. Watching as the canary turned back into its original shape he sighed before looking around. Now what was he supposed to do besides go jump on one of those soft plushy pygmy puffs and cuddle it? Oh yeah the potions!

Walking over to the potions area, his eyes nearly bulging out of his skull as he glanced in the potion cauldron. Potions was Darius's worst subject, one reason why he left that kind of thing to Ari. But she wasn't here and there was no way he could run out and get her. Taking a deep breath he looked in the cauldron once more, seeing the bright yellow color. Hmm it looked like a Shrinking potion gone wrong, now what had the thing said?

Leech juice, where's the leech juice he thought looking down at the ingredients strewn around. Picking it up once he found it he opened it and dropped one drop into the cauldron. Now to wait five minutes and do it again he mused, humming the Spiderman theme song to himself as he waited, looking at his watch every few seconds. After five minutes was up - and two renditions of Spiderman he dropped another drop, watching the color slowly change. Sighing he fought the urge to cross his arms and stomp as he counted.

Finally after the third drop of leech juice the potion turned to the normal green color - or so he hoped. Now he needed to test it. Taking one of the quills in his hand he frowned, now how was he going to do this without spilling it on himself and ending up with a shrunk arm? Oh that'd look funny, the new guy with a shrunk arm going to St. Mungos, of yeah hilarious. Smirking at the thought, Darius had an idea, grasping the quill at the feathery tip he plunked it into the cauldron, being careful to not touch the liquid and pulled it out, watching the green potion drip off. Please work he thought watching as the quill began to shrink before his eyes.

Placing the now shrunk quill onto the table and wiping his hands on his robes, Darius looked around, curious as to what would happen next.

As Ronan listened to Wesley Kutcher explain about the challenge, a wide grin came on his face. All he could think about is how perfect this challenge was just before he was going to be a father of twins. He could almost picture in the future how the little ones would be causing all sorts of mischief that he and Pandora would have to fix. 'If only Pandora were still at work and could see this.' he thought to himself. The potioneering part sounded all too easy and it was one of Ronan's specialties so he walked into the room confidently.

"Oof!" Ronan's leg hit an enlarged pygmy puff just to the side of him. Taking out his wand, he pointed at the toy and said, "Diminuendo!" and precariously began making a path towards the cauldron at the opposite side of the room.

Holstering his wand, Ronan looked at the potion and noticed that it was a bit yellow. "Shrinking Solution" he muttered to himself looking along the table for some leech juice. The young man poured a bit in and waited for some sort of color change in the potion. It stayed the same yellow.

Sighing, Ronan waited around for another five minutes before dropping in a little more. Suddenly, the potion turned a brilliant green and with a satisfied smile, Ronan dropped in one of the feathers on the table to see it shrink down like it was supposed to.

'Task completed.' he thought to himself, looking around for someone to award him with what he needed to move on to the next challenge.

Rinatta walked into the room with a little smile upon her petal-like lips. Accidents and Catastrophes ,this was something she found fun, strange as that is. She listened intently as Mr. Kutcher explained the challenge to the small group that was there. It seemed that there were so many more of them for the fist challenge and then just a few less for the next...and now quite a few less. She was surprised that the intial crowd had thinned down as much as it did and wondered if perhaps most of them were simple on the others challenges still.

After Mr. Kutcher had finished explaining ,time to get to it. She had to correct her footing when she nearly slipped from all of the water that the mops had been spreading around. Someone could break their neck that way. she thought to herself and was suddenly glad that she had indeed stopped wearing heels to work after tripping over a kneazle and coming inches away from her face kissing the carpet. She would have ended up on her butt for sure if she hadn't worn her boots. Deciding that she may want to clear one of these up before the floor got too soaked, she picked her target from the herd and aimed. This vaguely reminded her of field wrangling she thought as she cast her spell. "Aresto Momentum." She decided to slow it down a bit before returning it to its natural state and watched as it slowed down. She knew at the speed it was moving she would have been able to change it, but it looked sort cute at a slow wobble. As this object would have been charmed she used her favorite one from the list that had been given. She knew it well having used it many a time before, having a pair of mischievious twins for younger brothers. "Finite." she cast and watched the broom return to inanimacy. Alright to the next step.

Walking over to the cauldron she saw a vibrant yellow potion. Misbrewed Shrinking Solution. She thought to herself. Now this sort of training she remebered from what her mother had taught her, being as she was a potioneer. She looked through the ingredients to find the leech juice and upon seeing it took it into her hand. She added just a dash and it merely changed a shade of yellow. So she began the five minute waiting process. While on count down she watched the others already there to see how they were handling the challenge. She added another dash, nope still needed another. She thought about how her mother taught her to be very adept at brewing potions.....but she never could learn how to cook well. Simliar art, you would think if she could brew complex potions cooking would be easy by comparison, but oh no. She had the habit of burning food ,while being able to brew things like a polyjuice with ease. Ok time for one more and....success. It had changed back to its proper shade of acid green and she smiled brightly. Now just time for the quill. She tooh a sample vial out of her robe pocket and set the tip of a quill into it, watching as it pulled the acid coloured potion up like it would ink. It began to shrink and once it had finished she made sure no potion lingered then set it upon the table next to another small quill. They looked cute almost like charms.

Having finished what was assigned, she moved aside, waiting for the next task.

Benjamin stepped into the room and winced at all the things that were wrong. One swoop of Benjamin's wand could fix it, but he bet the host would want to hear the spells they casted, so he listened to the presentation.

When Wesley finished Benjamin immedietly approached the walking mop. "Hey! You! Finite!" The mop stopped moving and plopped to the floor. But there was still water everywhere. Not being required to do so, Benjamin swooped his wand and all the water on the floor evaporated.

After the crazy items, Ben approached the potion. To his surprise the solution was written on the board. SO he applied the leech juice every five minutes until it turned the green color required. He then dropped a quill in to watch it shrink. Perfect. He smiled and looked back at Wesley.

That was extremely easy.

Erik walked into the door to the next challenge and immediately had to duck as something flew at his head at a fast enough speed to knock him out. Pulling out his wand he looked around unsure of just what had caused it when he noticed teacups with yellow feathers zooming about. Interesting. Ducking again as one came at him he pointed his wand at it, "Aresto Momentum." Watching as it slowed down to a non-lethal speed he smiled and reached up to easily catch the poor teacup birdie.

"Well now little guy. Someone wasn't so nice to you," he smiled and pointed his wand at it again. Thinking back to his own school days and his massive transfiguration familiars he laughed and cast the Homorphus Charm. In an instant the teacup vanished to be replaced by the original birdie who flew around him and make chirping noises, "All better." He did like birds. He preferred owls though. There was something...majestic about an owl.

Squeezing by some enlarged dolls he shook his head. "Looks like a kid had a field day in here." As he reached a cauldron he wrinkled his nose at the colour of the potion. "Someone needs to go back to school." Taking in the colour of the potion and the ingredients around it he sighed. It was meant to be a shrinking solution. Now he had to remember what he was supposed to do to fix it. Should be easy for him since he taught Potions.

Wracking his brain for the answer he looked at the ingredients on the table again and picked up the leech juice. As if it were second nature he took the top off the bottle and poured some of the leech juice in. He watched as it turned a slightly darker shade of yellow and looked around. Waiting five minutes...maybe six he added some more. More waiting. Added some more until. EUREKA. It turned green. Well he should have been able to do it or he should have been fired from teaching and not just left to come back here. Looking around again he spotted a quill. Hmm... Using his wand he levitated the quill up and dropped it in the solution. He watched with a bemused grin as it shrunk meaning the potion was perfect. Using his wand again he levitated the quill back out and set it down away from the others. Quill shrunk and fingers not. Brilliant. Smirking he looked around and with a shrug leaned against the wall watching everyone else.

"Well done, sir!" he said with a grin.

OOC: Wait for PM with further instructions.

Hehe. Wes had to admit, he giggled a bit at the man who used the teacup canaries as a potions vial. Very clever indeed! And a good thing hedidn't touch the little wings on the cup too otherwise that poor canary would be in even more trouble than it already was.

He was doing brilliantly until...uh oh. The potion didn't quite work and Wes frowned slightly. "Hmmm, I don't think that the tip is going to work very well..." he said. He understood the concept behind it of course, but this was a potion, and not ink, so it worked a bit differently.

Yayyy! Another person who listened to directions nice and carefully. Wes grinned at the man as he successfully completed the potion.

"Good job!" he exclaimed with a small hand clap. EEE this was so exciting!

Fantastic! Another one who was very good at following directions. Wes watched as his feather shrank after dropping it into the potion. "Good job, you may proceed!" With that, his also whipped out his own wand and waved it, causing the pygmy puff toy to grow back to it's enlarged size once more so that others could have a try.

Wes was thrilled that so many employees had paid attention to him! He grinned as the woman who completed the task WITHOUT falling on those deathly high shoes of hers. "Congratulations, you have passed," he said with a smile.

After the crazy items, Ben approached the potion. To his surprise the solution was written on the board. SO he applied the leech juice every five minutes until it turned the green color required. He then dropped a quill in to watch it shrink. Perfect. He smiled and looked back at Wesley.

That was extremely easy.

Wes watched happily as another man proceeded to fly through the challenge when suddenly--the mop he had charmed hopped back up! "Well, your potion is perfect," he said as he peered over to the potion the man had just fixed. "Unfortunately it looks like the spells on those brooms are a BIT too strong for that.

And...another person was through! Wes smiled and then nearly dodged a little...present that the man's transformed canary just tried to leave him. BLEGHHH. He was going to have to fix that problem if he was going to be in here all day!

"Good job sir, you may proceed!" he said with a smile.

OOC: Wait for PM with further instructions

As the people who successfully completed the challenge moved on, he waved his wand a few times, and their potions reverted back to their damaged stage, glowing yellow once again so that new employees could test their skills on their cauldrons.

Okay.

She had made it this far, which was good. Marina was not completely satisfied, though - she had only completed two challenges. The second had definitely been a little more demanding than the first, she had to admit that, but there was still the fact that there was more, ahead.

She might have to face tougher ones.

She was pleasantly surprised, though, when she entered the room, just in the nick of time to see Mr. Kutcher begin to speak - Charms. Nifty and often helpful, no doubt. Not to mention -- potions! Marina had not served Beauxbatons Academy of Magic as its chief Potions Mistress, without an extensive knowledge of - and great love for - those.

Hopefully, she could do this.

She took a step forward - and paused. Gosh, it would be difficult to get by, in this room - those stuffed toys were huge! With a little shake of her head at the disarray, she raised her wand, and pointed it a stuffed toy. Diminuendo! The pygmy puff - well, not a pygmy puff, but definitely a toy in that form - started to shrink. Marina lowered her wand when it had been considerably reduced, to a size that a small child might appreciate. Then she did the same to another.

Now, to move on to the potion.

It took her half a second to realize, what was wrong with it - it would have been a shame, of course, if it had taken her any longer, given that she had been a potioneer for quite a while. One in constant practice, too. -- Shrinking Solution, there, but one not brewed correctly. The daisy roots had been probably been chopped the wrong way, or too finely.

Well, that could be remedied. Marina added a dash of leech juice, to drive the yellow colour away. It dimmed, but it was still far from green - the correct hue - so she allowed the brew a five-minute wait, letting the leech juice blend thoroughly. Then she proceeded to add another dash of the juice; and, five minutes later, a third dash. She did not need to repeat the step, after the third time, because the contents of the cauldron took on a specific shade of green, just what she had been looking for.

Just to be sure, Marina bent down a little to pick one of the quills set next to her workplace. Then she proceeded to levitate this, vertically, into the cauldron. The moment the quill was doused with the potion, it began to shrink -- Marina, having expected this, swiftly levitated it out of the cauldron, and set it aside.

Then, satisfied with her work, the Division glanced in Mr. Kutcher's direction. Was he going to come over, and have a look? Hopefully, she had done alright, especially on the potion.

Pierre walked into the next room of the challenge. He was glad that he had gotten past the law enforcement one. He never realized how difficult that job could actually be. He sat and listened as the next person talked about this challenge. He was not worried about learning the household spells or how to fix potions because he was very good at doing those sort of things.

Once everything was explained and they entered the adjoining room, Pierre was shocked by the massive amounts of things wrong within it. There were teacups flying around madly with yellow wings, mops that were moving on their own, and Pygmy Puff toys that were big enough to sit on. He had no idea were to start first or what he was supposed to do.

Then he saw the sign that said he had to fix one of the objects and correctly fix the potion. He hadn't noticed the cauldron until now and figured that he would try that first. He walked over and looked into the cauldron which was filled with a yellow potion. From the notes that Mr. Kutcher had given them, it was a shrinking solution gone wrong. He tried to remember how to correct it. It soon came to Pierre and he grabbed the leech juice. He added a dash to the potion and then waited another five minutes to do it again. He repeated this until the potion had turned the green color it was supposed to be. He put down the leech juice and smiled to himself, proud of his work.

Now that the potion was fixed, he turned back to the chaos that the charmed objects were causing. Out of nowhere, a teacup came and hit him in the side of his head. He pulled out his wand and pointed it at the flying cup. The spell was non-verbal, so Pierre thought as loudly and clearly as possible, "Homorphus!" His shot had missed because of the speed of the little teacup. He ran after it and tried again. The same thing happened as before. Then, he caught up to it and tried a third time. This time, the spell hit the teacup and it turned into a little canary that seemed to be happy to be a bird again.

Pierre took a moment to catch his breath. Chasing around after the canary/teacup had tired him out a bit. He turned to Mr. Kutcher to see if his work was satisfactory.

Ohhhh, someone knew a lot about potions, that was for sure! The potion looked fantastic, much better than some of the Shrinking Solutions Wesley had produced in the past.

"Well done! You may proceed," he told her with a grin.

OOOH someone changed it up and attempted the potion first! While the potion had been fixed to Wes' standards, there was still a problem with the canary--he hadn't completely uncharmed it!

"Hmm, still a bit on the fast side..." he said, tapping his chin and watching the canary zoom around his head like it had just drank five energy drinks.

Hmm, this one didn't slow down the cup either but...he'd already worked on the broom AND he'd cleaned up some of the water to boot. He'd let that slide. All of that added together was like doing one charmed object, he concluded.

"Alright, you may continue onward!" he said with a smile.

He bowed, then with a mischievious smile, let the canary-cup go... with the shrinking solution and feather still in it. An anti-spill charm on it to prevent accidents, of course. Perhaps it would wind up being a very small canary at the end of the day.

Upon entering the next room, Lucia listened to the next challenge then smiled as she noticed that there wasn't too many people here yet. Better get cracking then. She pulled out her wand and approached the enlarged pygmy puff toys. "Diminuendo!" She said, pointing her wand directly towards them. It had worked nicely and the toys shrank as they were supposed to. That was easy enough.

She nodded then proceeded to the cauldron that was across the room, where she immediately saw that it was bright yellow. Hmm, shrinking potion gone wrong. She knew what she needed to do so she got some leech juice and poured a dash into the misbrewed cauldron. Lucia didn't notice any change really, maybe slightly, so she waited 5 minutes then added another dash. Then another. She sighed as she watched the colour slowly changing. One more should do it. She added one more dash of leech juice then the potion had turned a satisfying colour of green. Lucia took one of the quills that was on the side then dipped it inside of the potion. After leaving it for a few seconds, she pulled it out and was pleased to see it had successfully shrinked. She grinned in acheivement then looked around for further instructions.

Brilliant!

"Thank you, this challenge was quite a pleasure," Marina said sincerely, before giving Mr. Kutcher a friendly, little smile, and moving away, so that he could deal, in peace, with the rest of the people, who had successfully managed to shrink a quill, or two.

Now to head on to the next challenge.

DH slowly entered the next level and listened to the introduction by the Magical Catastrophe Department Head.

Looking around he saw lots of charmed objects. Tea cups flying around, giant stuffed toys, and walking brooms. What a mess! he thought and then remembered his childhood mischief days. Making tables walk, the bed fly and lots more, that cost him detention to the castle dungeon.

He then looked at the potions poster and nodded. Hmm, return the objects to their normal state and fix the potion, Won't break a sweat in this. he said to himself.

He then looked up and saw the tea cups, flying tea cups. He grabbed his wand and pointed it towards the ceiling and said, Aresto Momentum hitting a tea cup and as it slowly flies overhead he pointed his wand unto it and muttered, Finite. All of a sudden, the tea cup was transformed into a yellow canary which flew towards him and landed on his shoulder.

Next he walked towards the badly brewed potion in the cauldron. Hmmm, yellow tinge, badly, very badly brewed Shrinking Potion. he thought.

He walked over the ingredients and took the leech juice. He added a dash of it and waited five minutes to add another one. He did that for roughly fifteen minutes until the potion had turned into green.

He then took a quill and a small amount of potion and dropped it into the quill, which then shrank from its normal size.

He nodded to himself and said, "Well that has done it, little fellow." he said looking at the canary which was still on his shoulder.

Flying tea cups, slopping wet mops splashing around and not so pygmy puffs bouncing everywhere, to Prometheus it seemed that someone had come into this room with the eyes closed and just started to wave their wand about like it was a common stick. He couldn’t help but smile this task was so far the most fun to look at, and it reminded him of watching his parents deal with his little brother when he was growing into his magic.

But reminiscing aside it was time to get to work and fix up this mess. Standing in the centre of the room Prometheus' decision of where to start was made for him, as a flock of yellow winged tea cups came straight at him, dive bombing his head. Ducking and side stepping quickly, in a fluid motion Prometheus unholstered his wand and with a clear and concise voice spoke, “Aresto Momentum”. The squadron of tea cups, reduced there speed and with a flick of his wand Prometheus used the Homorphus Charm, to return the canaries back into, well canaries. Obviously pleased with the improvement the birds lovingly flitted about his head and came to rest on his shoulders.
“You are welcome my fine feathered friends” Prometheus laughed.

Moving to the cauldron with birds in toe, Prometheus realised by the colour of the potion there was definitely something wrong. By the colour of the certain yellow, Prometheus surmised that it was in fact a poorly brewed Shrinking Solution. Having practiced this potion many times, to the dismay of his mother and her shrunken furniture, Prometheus knew the solution was to add a drop of leech juice every five minutes till it turns a lovely shade of green.
PLOP, went the first, and no change so for five minutes Prometheus played with his canry friends.
PLOP went the second drop and again no change.
PLOP went the third drop and instantly the potion turned a lovely shade of green, and as the quill shrunk as it was dropped into the potion, with that a satisfied smiled crept onto Prometheus’ face.

Olivia nodded along with the explanation this particular Department Head was giving them.Okay, well this SHOULDN'T be too hard.Hopefully.Pffffttt.She worked in Maintenance, she was used to cleaning things up and fixing things. The potion on the other hand....

As he gave them their leave, Olivia stood up and made her way over to the room and entered apprehensively. No sooner had she closed the door, than she was smacked in the forehead by a flying teacup. "What foolish--" she muttered rubbing her head, and walking forward, eyes trained upwards for anymore objects. Of course that meant she didn't see the GIGANTIC Pygmy Puff right in front of her.Falling head over heels, Olivia threw her arms out to break her fall, but she still landed face first in a puddle of water.Going well so far.Huffing she scrambled to her feet, and actually took in the scene around, wiping her face on the sleeve of her robes, and pushing her wet hair back.

Okay, so flying canary teacups.Must have been what hit me.Ha, Pygmy Puffs that obviously need to go on a diet, and mops...where the water is coming from.Fine.The spells Mr Kutcher mentioned will come in handy here I suspect.

She was going over it all in her head, trying to decide which to tackle first, before she got to the potion.Sliding her wand out from it's holster, Olivia pointed it one of the canaries as it went, again, past her head. "Aresto Momentum!" The little thing slowed immensely, and she was just able to jump up and gently grab hold of it before it flew away. "You poor little bugger," she muttered, trying to soothe it, before performing the correction spell. "Here, this will help you.I hope." Concentrating on the charm, Olivia said it clearly in her head.Homorphus. To her relief, the teacup suddenly jumped and changed into a fully fledged canary.Giving it a kiss on the head, she opened her hand and let it fly away to be with it's less fortunate friends. Now, onto the potion....

Having stored her wand, and picked her way through the pile of Pygmy Puffs, Olivia finally got to the table in which the potion was stood.Right, it was yellow, which meant it was - she scanned the notes they had on each of the two potions, and grinned when she spotted what the mistake was. SHRINKING SOLUTION! And someone hasn't been chopping their daisy root properly.Tsking under her breath, Olivia grabbed the leech juice in one hand and held her watch up with her other.Adding a tiny drop to start with, she timed it to make sure she didn't put it in earlier or later than five minutes. After what seemed like forever, the potion actually went green - the colour it was meant to be.Beaming, she corked the juice and looked down at the quills.Hmmmm.

Picking up one of the quills in her right hand, Olivia looked around for a vial to pour some of the potion into. When she found none, she scratched the back of her neck absentmindedly. "So how am I supposed --- Ohhhhhh," Suddenly dawning on her the best way to go, she held the quill by the sharp tip and dunked it feather first into the potion.Mouth open, hoping it would work, Olivia watched as the quill slowly soaked up the liquid and shrunk before her eyes. "Goodo," she grinned, looking around for someone to tell her what to do next.

Yay, Hamlet! • Cathopper • Disney Fanatic • I was normal once...

One thing was true, Samuel McDean was making SO MUCH MORE progress than Daniel McDean was. Haha. His brother was slowwww. He headed through the door of the next challenge only to see Wes standing near the entrance. Wait. That meant he was finally on the Level 3 challenge, right? Right! He could totally do this challenge, no doubt about it, since he worked on Level 3 and all that.

He quietly stood where he was as he listened to his boss talk about what to do when spells went amiss and when potions were brewed wrong. Once the group was given the okay to start their challenge, he started towards one of the big stuffed pygmy puff toys, only to be slowed down by one of the crazy tea cups that were coming right at him at full speed! EEEP. He ducked down as the tea cup flew past his head, and then he quickly pulled out his wand. Forget the pygmy puff bean bags; he was going to deal with that teacup before it knocked him out!

He turned around to face the direction the teacup at flown to and Sam had to stand there for a few seconds until the teacup decided to try and attack him again. "Aresto Momentum," he said while he pointed his wand at the teacup coming straight towards him. The teacup slowed down to where he was able to catch it with his hands and while he held it, he tried his best not to crush the yellow wings coming out from it.

He pointed his wand back at the teacup in his hand and nonverbally casted Homorphus Charm on it. Just then, the teacup transformed back into the yellow canary, and then Sam let go of the bird and watch as it flew around the room. It was such a pretty bird! Maybe Wes would allow him, and the rest of the Level 3 employees, to keep the birds in their office once this whole job fair thing was over with and all the teacups at been transformed back into the birds. He would have to ask him that later.

After watching the bird for a little bit, Sam headed straight towards the cauldrons. He looked at the yellow potion inside of the cauldron, and then he looked at the tiny note card that had been taped to the poster board. All he had to do was fix the potion, which wasn't too bad in his opinion. Remembering that leech juice was suppose to be added to fix a problem like this, he picked the vial of leech juice up and poured some in there. And then he waited about 5 minutes. Once 5 minutes past and he made sure the potion hadn't been fixed yet, he added some more leech juice.

He repeated those steps about one or two more times until the potion had turned green. He placed the vial back on the table, and then he turned to face Wes.

He was done!

Wes grinned. "Lovely job! You may go on," he told her with a smile after viewing her work.

"Oh no! Looks like that spell was a BIT too strong for that..." Wes said, biting his lip and watching the teacup fly away.

Oh goodness. These women were falling down all over the place! Thankfully she got right back up and flew through the challenge until she got right to the end...the feather flicked a few drops of potion on the table as she pulled it out.

"EEP! Oh no! Be careful, don't touch that!" Wes flailed about. He did NOT want to fix any shrunken limbs. NO NO NO! She needed to clean it up ASAP.

Wes should have expected Sam to fly right through this one. It WAS his Department, after all. He grinned as he watched his employee work diligently...wait, where was Dan?

"Good job Sam, you may move on," he said. As soon as he spoke, however, the canary that had been circling his head left a little...PRESENT on the Division Head's shoulder before he left.

Oops. Wes bit his lip to try and stop himself from laughing but...IT WAS TOO FUNNY!

Looking up at Wes, Prometheus said, "TA DA" and smiled.

DH smiled as he did a great job. Until... He heard some cracks and the canary turned into a teacup again...

He wont give up. He looked up and pointed his wand and said, Aresto Momentum. After hitting and slowing a teacup he said, Finite turning the tea cup into a canary once more. He waited and waited to make sure he didn't get it wrong.

He waited until he is sure that the canary will nto return to be a teacup.
