The Stands

Grab a seat to watch over your little brother or sister’s first flying lesson, admire that cute flyer doing loops or sit down to enjoy the scenery. Whichever the reason may be, the Stands provides the best view as it completely surrounds the Pitch. If you happen to attend a Quidditch match, the Stands are brightly decorated in the colors of the Houses playing on the Pitch.

Beware of flying objects though, as the Stands are not protected from various bludgers (or flyers) heading your way. Please pick up after yourself and be kind to the flyers on the Pitch or the flying instructor may just accidentally assign you a seat in the far back next time.

Open! Quidditch try-outs timeline :3

Quidditch was never really the type of thing Drewett liked. He absolutely disliked the mandatory flying lessons they had back as first years. It didn't mean that he didn't know how to fly--he actually did, if necessary. As long as he was within two feet off the ground, he was fine. Unfortunately, that really wasn't the same scenario for Quidditch...what with all the soaring balls and heavy bats and bloodbaths and biting that frequently happen.

Drewett was quite proud that he stopped hiding behind the stands every time he watched a Quidditch match now. It was difficult seeing his friends get hurt just for ridiculous sport, but if they were having fun (which is really questionable because who had fun getting beat up by bludgers?) then he supposed he was obliged to be supportive.

Which is why Drewett was here, at the stands with a bag packed with food and a pair of omnioculars, to be a supportive friend as his friends try out for Quidditch. Here's to hoping the captains weren't going to release those bludgers for real, yeah?

Of course, Farah was going to try out for Quidditch. She'd told Cam she would last summer. Yet, here she was in the stands, not doing just that. Her attention was on other things this year. It was her first year at school without her dad and honestly she didnt have the heart to do it. Her dad is the one that taught her to fly. He was magnificent at it. She just... couldnt. Plus it was her last year here... she wanted to spend as much time free as she could.

She was representing her friends with a bit of Hufflepuff pride etched into her outfit. It wasnt too out of the usual than her regular outfits though because was a huge Hufflepuff pride fan. She sat down with licorice wants and then looked and saw Drew sitting by the stands too. Getting up, she headed to him and then plopped gently beside. "Hey there." She said with a smile while getting comfortable on the stands. "Who are you rooting for?"

Drewett wasn't in any colour-schemed clothes today. He felt it wasn't necessary since it was just tryouts, and it would seem very biased considering he had friends trying out for all the house teams today. Rylee and his little sister Dia were there for the Lions, Aaron for the Badgers, Gunnar for the Snakes, while Septimus, Nettie, and Hanna for the Eagles. With omnioculars before his eyes, he looked around the pitch for his friends. He wasn't sure if he should wave at them or not. It might probably be distracting and he didn't want to be blamed for being a distraction.

He only let his gaze shift away from the pitch when he heard someone approach him. "Hi, Farah," Drewett greeted in response with a tiny smile. He knew the seventh year through Rylee and although he was a little awkward since they didn't know each other too well, he didn't want to shoo her presence away. "Everyone...." That was the real answer. He was actually rooting for everyone to get on the team. Quidditch was a seriously competitive sport. "B-But some of my friends are t-trying out. I hope they g-get in." Otherwise he really wouldn't have a reason to watch Quidditch matches anymore. He only ever forced himself to sit on the stands for them.

Drew was a cute kid. Very timid. He reminded Farah of a puppy. One of the super cute ones that were a little shy but would give you all the love in the world. She didnt know him that well though. Just what she was told from Rylee and their few encounters they'd had. But he couldn't seriously be rooting for everyone could he have? Farah blinked and looked back out to the stands before looking back at him. He probably could have. "I've got a few friends out there I'm rooting for." She mentioned. But she wasnt rooting for everyone that would just be impractical.

Quidditch was a competitive sport. They had to be in it to win it.

Farah smiled though as she chewed her licorice wand, wishing she'd brought omnioculars with her. Mind you, she didnt have a pair of her own, but she could have easily gotten a pair from someone. Most likely her roomie, and best friend, Steph.

She didnt want to bug Drew too much though, because he was watching the try outs so... intensely. However, Farah wasnt about to sit in silence during the tryouts. This girl was a talker, through and through. The only time she stopped talking was when she was upset about something. Right now, she wasnt. "Do you want a licorice wand?" She asked, offering her hand full of the wands, but her gaze fell back onto the tryouts.

You two <3

Caolan absolutely loved sports and ordinarily he would be found having a kick about in the local park with his mates or watching the rugby. If he was more practiced in flying on a broom he would’ve 100% been trying out for the team right now but alas here he was walking into the stands ready to watch his fellow teammates trying out the team instead. He guessed that there was always next year if he managed to practice enough in time. He missed being part of a team.

The Ravenclaw climbed up a few flight of stairs and spotted a couple of students sat watching the goings-on. One he recognised from the feast as the nervous guy who he had a brief conversation with and the other he had never seen before. Not wanting to look like the weird new loner kid he headed straight towards the pair and grinned down at them.

“Hey! Drew isn’t it?” He actually impressed himself that he could recall the kids name, he wasn’t the best with remembering names especially after only meeting them once. “You watching the tryouts too? Mind if I joined you?” He didn’t wait for a response and flopped himself down in the seat next to his fellow Ravenclaw. They didn’t really have a choice in the matter, Caolan was here to stay.

You know who you are <3

Well, perhaps yes it was a bit absurd to root for everyone to get on the team. But Drewett was there anyway quietly cheering for everyone and especially for his friends. Everyone down there looked determined enough to want to be on the team. That must mean something, all the perseverance. "Mhm... Rylee's d-down there...." Drewett assumed Rylee would be one of the people Farah would be rooting for, after all. And he was doing the same, though he was rooting more for his little sister since Dia didn't have a lot of Quidditch experience up her sleeve. It was hard getting into a team when so many experienced ones vie for a spot. In fact, the fourth year was proud of Dia for wanting to try out anyway. She was going to go far, he believed, with that mindset of hers.

He looked back at Farah when she offered him a licorice wand. Drewett reached out to take one of the many wands Farah offered. "Thank you...." He managed a tiny smile. "I b-brought sugar cookies...." Or at least, he took them from the kitchens before coming over here. The house elves were nice, as usual. That also served as an offer for Farah too.

His attention was then brought towards another figure who joined them. Drewett nodded in response to his question. Wow, he actually remembered his name. The fourth year wasn't sure if his goal to remain low-key this term was working, but he couldn't complain. "Hi, Caolan. Feel free...." There was a lot of space around them. While crowds made him nervous, Drewett could at least handle a bit of company. He went back to looking at the try-outs through his omnioculars.

Tryouts were already in progress when Noble arrived and headed up the stairs to the stands. It had been a disappointing showing from his house team last year, and he was keen to see them use the foundations they'd built last year, grow in confidence and climb up the rankings.

As he reached the seating, it seemed he wasn't the only one here to spectate. Taking a seat a couple of rows behind Farah and the Ravenclaws, he pulled out a large travel Thermos of coffee and an open pack of gingernut biscuits. "How're they looking?" he asked the gathered group, gaze on the pitch.

ChanceCoeur 01-10-2019 03:02 PM

you cuties

Squinting, Farah watched the tryouts excitedly. She really should have tried out.. but then again, it heart wasnt where it needed to be. This was her last chance too seeing as it was her seventh year. Oh well....

She longing looked out for a moment too long before she heard Drew again. She peered at him and his sugar cookies. That puppy of a boy. SO cute. "Sugar cookies are grand but I'm a bit of a fan with the wands during quidditch." It was like going to the movies and having popcorn. They went hand in hand to Farah. She politely declined them as her eyes went back to the try outs.

Another voice could be heard and another Ravenclaw showed up. Farah didnt know this boy however. Was he new? He seemed to know Drew though. See? Puppy. Farah glanced over at him, examining the new boy.

Biting onto her licorice wand, her head whipped around when she heard another voice. Her Head of House. "Hey! It's looking pretty good out there. The puffs have a few young ones trying out but with Bel and Derf there, they are going to some of the best Quidditch players." Because honestly, have you seen those two play? Bloody brilliant! "Though, the other teams have some strong people trying out." She had friends in all the places. Cam and Rylee she was really rooting for. But there was something about Faith and Zoryn that screamed they would take over the Quidditch world. HOWEVER... Quidditch was about team work... and seeing the interaction with the Gryffindors.. Zoryn would need to learn that. "I think these matches are going to be pretty brilliant." Her team would always be who she rooted for best though.

Lottiepot 01-10-2019 11:48 PM

Awesome! His buddies didn’t mind if he sat with them although he wouldn’t really have listened had they protested. Firstly that would be rude of them anyway and secondly they didn’t really have a choice. Caolan was not going to sit by himself. He squinted down at the players doing their warm ups and then back at the pair. “I’ve never seen a Quidditch match before.” NOOB! He knew how it worked though, he knew the rules and the positions and whatnot but he had never seen a match live and in action. He was pretty pumped about seeing matches later on in the term. He looked at the girl that was with his fellow housemate and offered her a friendly grin. “I’m Caolan” In case she hadn’t guessed from what Drewett had said to him. “I’m new around these parts.” Shiny and new and wow that sounded dumb.

He was about to continue when a voice came from behind him. He glanced around seeing one of the professors joining them to spectate. The girl had explained what was happening pretty well and Caolan didn’t really have anything more to contribute. He did however have questions and this lot seemed like the bunch to give him answers. “How does this work then? Can anyone try out or do you get scouted?” Y’know, just in case he fancied playing next year or something. Back at his old school you would be invited to play for the school football team, Hogwarts seemed more inclusive.

Caolan definitely got why this whole Quidditch thing was a pretty big deal at this school though. Playing on a team was always fun and supporting a team was even better. The camaraderie and atmosphere and all that.. it made him really miss playing footie.

Again, Drewett only looked away from the omnioculars when someone else was talking to him. This time, the voice he heard was rather old. No, not little Professor Dopple old...but it was old. Or at least, older than a student. The Ravenclaw turned around and saw their potions professor. "Hello, p-professor...." He greeted the man. Professor Noble still made him a little anxious. "Fairly well, sir... b-but the Hufflepuffs are d-doing great." Assuming he wanted to know about the students in his house. No trouble yet, of course, except perhaps for that little exchange about those first years owning brooms. However, the obstacle course was a nice touch, he noted. It looked like fun for the daring. Not his type of daring, at least.

Okay, so no sugar cookies for Farah. That was okay. Drewett smiled a little bit, totally fine with her declining the offer. The offer would still stand later on anyway, again assuming he didn't finish all the sugar cookies in one go. He, instead, turned to face Caolan. "D-Do you want one?" Drewett asked, holding out his container of sugar cookies. There were still a lot of them.

Taking a glance at the pitch again, he saw Dia doing really well for her first tryouts and it made him smile. This was a proud big brother moment right now, and people probably start questioning his loyalty to the Ravenclaw team at this rate. Then he momentarily looked at the Ravenclaw tryouts. Drewett deduced that they were doing stations and drills, kind of like the Hufflepuffs. The Slytherins were doing laps. Okay, nothing to worry about. None of his friends were harmed yet.

Then he looked back to Caolan. "I-I unfortunately don't play...." Actually, Drewett considered it more of a fortunate thing. "But I know that you have to t-try out for the team every year." So no scouting, unless it's for the potential professional teams after Hogwarts. That was the most information Drewett could offer.

Sitting for the past ten minutes Bel decided the stands on a non-Quidditch day actually would be a great place to study. Why hadn't she realised that before?? Not that she was here for that now of course. Casually, Bel balanced the beaters bat she had with her on the end of her fingertip. Not much longer now.

"Not gonna lie. That sure looks fun..." Charlie said to no one in particular after forcing himself to watch Hufflepuff's joint practice with Ravenclaw. With all that's happening in school and his issues with his academics, he thought it would be a good idea to give himself a treat, despite the fact that he'd also feel bad for not joining the team this term.

At least it was doing him some good? Somehow he got by and finally nailed his OWLs that he had to retake during winter. At least that was done now. He can finally take a breather before preparing for his next doom-- NEWTs.

At the thought of being a senior student, all the excitement about the practice session was shattered in an instant. Charlie groaned as he suppressed the feeling of helplessness. Maybe watching the practice session was a bad idea after all. Maybe he should've just stayed in his bed and sleep. He needed one badly, anyway.
