Bored, Rachel wandered over to the broomshed. She was curious as to what brooms they had in here. Of course, she had gotten herself her own broom from the money that her grandad had left for her before he died. He had written in his letter for her, "Use it for something fun." It was a lot of money, so she got the best racing broom around.
She wasn't really fond of playing Quidditch, but she enjoyed watching it. Mostly, she just loved flying, and flying fast. That feeling of soaring through the air, the wind whipping at her hair, and making sharp turns, steep dives and endless loops... She wouldn't trade it for anything.
She had managed to fly in the summer due to the immense forest behind her neighbourhood. It wasn't a scary one, but it provided adequate shelter against any Muggle (she was getting used to that word so quickly!) eyes that happened to wander. She had found a perfect clearing in the centre of the forest.
Day dreaming, she entered the shed. "Wow," she thought as she snapped out of her previous thoughts, and looked around, "There are a heck of a lot of brooms in here..."

Edward walked over to a ravenclaw girl. "Hello", he siad.

Edward had liquid gold eyes and a crooked heartmelting smile. His skin was stone cold and completely pale.

Startled, Rachel looked up at the Griffindor boy and smiled. "Hello!" she said brightly. What was up with her? Where was all her shyness? she thought to herself. She then dismissed the thought and added, "My name's Rachel."

"I'm Edward", he said giving her a heartmelting smile showing his perfect white teeth.

"Hey Edward. So, what brings you to the broomshed?" Rachel asked, choosing to ignore her female instincts and drool at his obviously good looks. She made her way over and sat down on a bench. "Owww!!!!" she shouted and jumped back, massaging her... Don't I feel completely ridiculous! she thought to herself as she turned bright tomato red. She flipped her dark hair in front of her face to hide her embarassment.
"I.. err... forgot the benches were full of splinters... and nails," she stammered, mortified. I've probably scared him away with my clumsiness. Wouldn't be the first time.

"Try to remember next time", he said.

"I will, you can be sure of that!" she said, grinning. She was just happy she hadn't scared him away. "So, you didn't actually answer my question. What brings you to the broomshed, Edward?" Rachel asked, eyes twinkling.

"I got bored so I decided to check this place out again.", Edward explained.

Professor Vindictus walked into his broomshed with the intention of checking supplies and preparing the place for his first lesson. But as he approached the door, he saw that it was slightly ajar (he had it closed) and voices were coming from inside.

With a firm hand, he pushed the door open and saw two students who were obviously not taking care of brooms.

"May I ask what the two of you are doing in here?" he demaned and raised a disapproving eyebrow at the young Ravenclaw girl.

Rachel jumped about a mile in the air. "P..Professor Vindictus! I.. I.. I came here just to check out the brooms and maybe see if I could poslish up a few... I didn't know we weren't supposed to be in here!" she stammered, blushing furiously. She hoped he wasn't going to take off house points. Oh God, that's all I need, for my whole house to hate me!

"The brooms in here are perfectly fine and in fact it would be extremely difficult to tend to a broom," Vindictus said and held the door open for her. "I have yet to unpack the broomcare supplies for the school term. And you?" He stared at the Slytherin boy who was remaining silent.

"Um, I have my own supplies, and I bought them here..." she said quietly. She blushed and realised she shouldn't say anything else. With a quick pleading look at her Head of House, she exited the broomshed quickly, hoping that he wouldn't dock points. Once outside, she ran back up to the castle.

Vindictus watched the Ravenclaw girl run off and his attention was on the Slytherin boy who was clearly ignoring him. "Since you clearly don't wish to answer me, then ten points from Slytherin for your defiance," he said without any trace of emotion. "And I suggest you leave the Broomshed before I consider any further punishment."

Theo was struggling with his broom. He wanted to take it back to the broomshed after the tryouts. It was rather heavy, and he considered dragging it along the floor. But if Professor Vindictus was anything like his daddy, brooms were the most precious things in the world, and not to be dragged anywhere. He held it on his shoulder with both little hands, and pushed the ajar door open. He heard an angry voice inside. He didn't like angry people. He looked up to see that it was Professor Vindictus with an angry face. He smiled at the tall man, "Hello Professor."

Vindictus was nearly at the door of the shed when the bag began to move again. "Stun it again, Jezz," he asked and his mind began racing over how to store the bag safely.

Jezz raised her wand. "Stupefy!"

The bag stopped moving again so she put her wand away. "Where are you going to put it Professor??" There didn't seem to be a place for it.

"Erm...that support post looks sturdy enough," Vindictus said and dragged the bag over to it. He propped the bag up slightly and pointed to some rope that was in a box. "Use Ferula to bind the rope around the bag so that it's attached to the post." He stepped back to watch Jezz perform the spell.

Jezz thought for a minute and then nodded. Her wand was still poised so she pointed it to the rope. "Ferula!" She guided the rope to the post and watched as the rope bound the bag to the post. She looked closely to make sure it was tight, but not too tight.

When she was done she looked to Vindictus. "I'll never understand you strange Professors." She muttered under her breath.

"Nice spellwork, Jezz. I think that warrants 10 points for Ravenclaw, don't you think?" he winked. "Now the contents of that bag are, um, a secret. So no peeking! All will be revealed in due time."

Jezz smiled. "Okay. I'll stop trying to figure it out." Even as she promised she knew it would be making her crazy. "Where'd you get it?" She didn't think that would mess with the secret.

"I, um, know someone who knows someone who knows someone," Vindictus answered slyly. "If I told you where it came from, then it would ruin the surprise."
