Snape didn't really hate Lupin that much,he only hated Sirius and James. Besides,he was loyal to Dumbledore so he was probably following his orders.

While I don't think Snape would do anything Dumbledore asked of him, I do agree that in this case Dumbledore asked and Snape agreed, albeit begrudgingly. That and the fact that he's not exactly stupid, and setting a werewolf on a bunch of students is cruel, even for him, and it wouldn't exactly help his cause. | |

Snape did hate Remus but not nearly as much as he hated Sirius and James. Also he probably made the potion on Dumbledore's orders. Besides it was probably also for the safety of the students since Moony in control is much safer than normal Moony.

This is completely true. Snape practically owes Dumbledore his life. So if it was Dumbledores wishes, Snape would have of corse done it.

I think for the reason Harry stated in the book, he didn't want to cause trouble right under Dumbledore's nose because it was the latter who was giving him protection from any further accusations of Death Eater activity (as Dumbledore did manage to convince the MOM that Snape had changed his allegiance at a great personal risk). Although his feelings may have changed slightly towards Lupin.

I believe this is because Severus is not a bad man , although he holds resentment for many years, hold grudges far to long, I believe deep down he holds respect for his colleagues. That and Dumbledore probably requested it, while I don't see Severus as a lap dog, I see him respecting Dumbledore more than any other.

I don't think it was just that Dumbledore made him, I also think that Snape didn't hold as much of a grudge against Lupin as he did for James and Sirius. Lupin was probably only disliked because of his connection to them, as he didn't get involved with any of the bullying towards Snape.

I say it was definitely on Dumbledore's orders... However, I don't think Snape hated Lupin. Lupin never bullied Snape as James and Sirius did, but just let it happen. Which in some cases it is just as bad... But not worthy of hatred.
