At first he only hears his mother. Eventually, While he is playing Quittitch (I think) he hears his father also.

he only hears his mother at first but as they get worse he is then able to hear his dad for the first time as well

james tells lilly to take harry and to run and he will hold voldemort off for as long as he can, lilly takes harry away and james goes to the door but forgets to take his wand to defend himself and voldemort then kills him. voldemort then goes and looks for harry and finds him, he tells lilly she neednt die and he only wants to kill harry

Maybe because he keeps remembering more and more the longer he stays with the dementors. First he heard his mother screaming, then he heard her pleading with voldemort. If he had gone on longer without learning the patronus, he probably would have heard his dad die.

I think it's because he never really saw his dad die. He was upstairs with his mum wasn't he?

I have been wondering that for a while now, too, but I think it's because Lily was holding Harry when she was killed. From what I know, James was in a different room.

His mother was next to him so he probably remembers better.

I guess because it was still small harry and james died in another room by room harry and then lilly is nearby

I think he did hear the whole thing. He heard his dad telling lily to take Harry and go, then he heard lily pleading with voldemort. That was the whole thing and he heard it.

I also think it makes it more emotional when Harry hears his mom above all. It was her, after all, who died directly protecting Harry, which saved him. Although James basically did the same thing, it was just a bit different.

In Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry does hear James shouting to take Harry and run while he (James) holds up Voldemort. And then he hears his mother pleading. There is at least one situation when he hears this in PoA.

that why we mainly see alot of Lily than James- although i wish they did more on James not just Lily!! James the dad to you know lol

Lily was in the room with Harry when she was killed, James was not, so obviously Harry would have heard more of Lily than James. Though I think he heard James yelling too at some point...

Harry hears his mother's death because. Harry's father was downstairs trying to fight him off while Harry and his mom were trying to escape out of his nursery window. James couldn't ward Voldemort off so then he killed James. He stepped over his body making it to the Nursery. He found Lily and Harry there. On Snape's wishes he asked Lily to move because he would spare her life to kill her son's. Lily loved her son too much to let him die before her eyes. That's why Voldemort betrayed Snape and killed Lily because she was protecting her son. Then when he tried to kill Harry the curse rebounded and hit him. Harry hears his mother's voice and death because he was there when the whole thing happened and remembers hearing her voice during it all. He remembers his mom more than dad because he was there when she was murdered.

Harry was a lot closer to his mother then he was to his father. In one of the books it states Harry heard muffled noises when his father died as he was in another room.
