This is a good question. I too did wonder that. But yes, it's just like dobby can apparate into hogwarts. If you're not fully human, then you can so more than witches and wizards.

I'm not very sure.....
But they must be able to speak in some way.....
Although Crookshanks is not a normal cat so she must have some ability of talking to Sirius.

They didn't talk. I think they communicated in the ways a human communicates with a dog. Sirius may have turned into himself and make the cat trust him.

They probably have they're own way to communicate. Like house elves have they're own type of magic. But we will never know because we're not animals.
