What do you all think of the school uniforms?
I wonder if they're using the PoA uniforms in the next movie.
I hope they don't keep changing it up in every film cuz I'd like to have something that's consistent enough to wear for Halloween :moon:

I actually really did not notice the uniform difference....oh well I guess I was trying to get over the fact how poorly casted sirius was *runs and hides*

I liked it, a bit more stilish... lost that child-like simplicity...and still somehow... more realistic (more like what a British school would have).Scarfs don`t look like those of English football fans anymore!

Yes the uniforms are a bit stylish and fashionable.But i like both of them.Both the uniforms used in POA and SS and COS are good in their own way.But i did'nt like muggle clothing in POA.

What is so child-like about it? Clothes are clothes-there is no way to judge a person's age or maturity by what clothes they wear. Also, they are uniforms-style does not matter. What matters is that all the children come in looking the same and many people believe that when style is thrown in, it undermines the school as a learning institution. I'm not saying that this is true, I'm just saying that is a popular opinion among a lot of uniform-wearing schools-again, not all of them.

I think they should have worn their uniforms a lot more-is it not a requirement? Shouldn't they have been neater? I didn't like the Muggle clothing because they wore it too much and it is 2003-2004 Muggle clothing. This story doesn't take place in 2004-in 1993.
The new uniforms looked good-I liked them as much as the first two movies' uniforms, except for the girls' shoes-too much flair for a uniform, I think. Also, I wish they would keep it more consistent because schools rarely just change their uniforms and even with the different directors, an occasional change is alright, because they are still just movies-too much is irking, however.

Harry and Ron's clothing was passable, but Hermione's style wasn't in back then. The cardigan thing or duster or whatever it was, is more today than 10 years ago.
Also, I thought the muggle clothing was okay as long as they were wearing it outside the school grounds, like when they were in Hogsmeade, but then again they said it was filmed mostly during the holidays, so school uniforms shouldn't be required then, should they?
Those new uniforms are alright tho, I like the new house patches. I still like the old uni's better, the all-black look just isn't all that appealing. Yeah, I know, it's just a school uniform, but then again, this is a wizard/witches school so I guess I expected something with a little more style and not so goth. :unsure:

The POA uniform made Harry and Ron look extra HOT if you know what I mean.

Yeah, they did look hot. lol I liked these uniforms better than the others, but not just for that reason....

i didn't like there non-uniforms..they looked nice---yes--- but they're muggle cloths.

i like the new ties and the new scarves .They look less cartoonish. the books start getting serious at POA i think theyre just trying to set the mood for the days ahead. I dunno maybe im reading to much into it.

:star: I like the new uniforms... it was easier to distinguish rather than the old ones where you can see the house colors only in the tie and the patch or logo.. whichever.. lol... it was more stylish? well anyway that's how they look like in the games right? if anyone here knows... lol... they main colors of each house are on the edge of the robes... (or however you may call it...) and bout the non-uniforms... it's kinda cool... and I liked it that they were well muggle clothes? if you may call them... because if wizards did have their own style of clothes they might look a little freaky? coz maybe they'd have a hard time to blend in with muggles and besided that they are human beings to begin with... muggle or wizard... I dunno... the students do wear muggle clothes... so i think i shouldn't call them muggle clothes.. lol :star:

Muggle clothes which funnily enough JK uses in her books - stop objecting to the author!

The uniform is realistic. It does change through the times, just look at Tom Riddle's uniform!

I dont prefer either, I think they're both great, but the later ones are more mature and I do prefer to way in which they wear them, highlighting their own personalities.

i think the uniforms and ties are cool,cos they almost match with mine. hehe. then, i can feel like a witch even though im attending a muggle school.. :sorcerer: wingardium leviosa!

I liked both, and really didn't mind either. I must agree with Marce though, that the new ones look more mature and let everyone kind of show there own personality which was nice for a change. The ties were kind of nice, to distungish between whos in this house and whos in that (for those who do not read the books) this way you don't need to stare at the small badges they had on there old uniforms... but i love them both, they both suited very well for the movies.

What about the Quidditch uniforms? I didn't get a good look cuz it was raining and stuff. I'm not all into the numbers and names on the robes, liked it better the other way. And Harry wears Quidditch goggles? What happened to the Impervius spell?

I thought it was a change for the better... it may make the movies seem more dated later on, but in Mary Grandpre's drawings the kids are normally shown wearing everyday outfits. I always imagined them wearing normal clothes outside of classrooms.

Yes but for a wizard robes are normal clothes. They don't dress in the things that we would consider normal. Why do you think there was such a big fuss at the quidditch world cup. It was because almost none of the wizards could convincingly dress like muggles. They don't have muggle clothes. Some who are muggle born obviously would have muggle clothing. But i think that for the most part wizards don't know how to dress like muggles. I think that the movies should stick to uniforms and robes.

I don't, I mean.... and what happens to pure-blood wizards who don't use muggle clothes? I didn't like that in the movie at all. And there again, I might love the books too much but I couldn't enjoy the movie.

I really liked the uniform and the muggle clothes. Harry Potter's supposed to be set around now, just because it was written in 1999 doesn't mean the movie has to be set then. I think Hermione's clothes were a little too fashionable, though. She was wearing the kind of thing someone like me would go out and buy, not the kind of thing that Hermione would wear.

Plus, Hermione and Harry come from Muggle families, so of course they'd be wearing normal stuff. In GoF, the Weasley children are described as wearing normal Muggle clothes, so I think it's just right.

But halfblood families would know muggle clothes. So you have to lean both ways. Hermione would, she's muggle. Harry knows them because he lives in the muggle world. It's apparent Ron doesn't by the furry jumpers and old fashioned home knitted wear.

So did I, namely because they are kids and kids wear what they want. JK always describes them in "trainers" which are muggle clothes...so the costume people aren't in the wrong at all.

Yeah, they're at Hogwarts through the 90's but the films set them in 21st Century for a better profit.

I agree.....just because certain things in the book give a year, this is supposed to be a story for all time. You aren't supposed to analyze every little detail (tho we do) and figure out what year this is, the idea is current. The thing about Hermione's clothes being "too fashionable" I think really can't be justified. We know that Hermione is a book-worm, but we also know she's a (semi)normal teenage girl. She has the right to be up on the current fashions.

Overall, I think the change of uniform makes the story more realistic. I liked how they didn't always have to wear the robes, they could wear a sweater or something instead, to "bring out a personality" in each one. The old uniforms did look too childish, this new uniform is allowing the characters to grow up a bit. I liked the Quidditch uniforms a lot, they looked like they were made out of a material that could withstand all weather. The old ones looked like one drop of rain would ruin them. The number thing was cool too, with the last name.

I agree-in general ,wizards wear Muggle clothes around Muggles, but around wizrds, they wear wizard clothers. Even the half-bloods and Muggle-borns integrate their lives and communities. When in the Wizarding World, do as the Wizards do, because they can. They are wizards. As for in school, uniforms-even in Potions and subjects like that robes, as outer wear, would serve as protection. So I wish they'd worn them more often. I also understand why long hair would be tied back in situations like these. That is okay.

Wizards would know what normal clothes are. I think that by them wearing the normal clothes it shows that they arentr so secluded from the woorld that they dont even do the same things as muggles. There are probably more half blood kids or kids like Hermione from muggle families than pure blood wizards. So because of this they would know what casual clothes are.
