Default Suggestions for SS

Well I have seen a thread like this in other forums and it has helped them make their members have more fun on the site. As you can see new and exciting things are happening on SS like the new SS vote banner contest, The new RP game and the new Fanclub addition to the forums.

All the above ideas were created by the current SS staff. Well we or should I say, I, want to hear what you would like on SS. Have you got any suggestions for the forums that will get our admins thinking upon? If so post it!

Remember that all suggestions should follow the SS rules, please ensure SS doesn't already HAVE the suggestion you're making AND don't get too disappointed if we have to reject your idea.

"What do you like about SS" and similar threads are already in the Newbie Hut. I think I saw a "what's your fave SS fanfic" thread floating around the Leaky Cauldron or Grimmauld Place. There are already plenty of places to discuss SS-related stuff

Unfortunately it isn’t possible to have a ‘set default colour’ function, as far as I’m aware. However it certainly would be helpful, perhaps it’s something the tech guys could work out in the future.

Rovie does our banners. She's currently stuffed with Gallery work right now so you'll need to patient. If you really wish a change then change the skin to get a new banner and new colours of skin.

If there was an easy way to have years, that would be cool but, there isn't a real good way to go about it. So, we encourage people to RP as first years when they first come to the school RP and increase a year with each new term.

I have a suggestion for SS radio

SnitchSeeker Idol!

The whole idea is to get the best jingle for the radio by the enterant actualy having to say more than this is ... from... and i listen to ss radio! more like other real life radio stations do..

I suggested it in the OOTP thread and it was really well recieved.. what do you all think?

evlpez's edit: This was discussed amongst the staff already, and it was determined that there are too many legal issues (copyright, at the very least) that would prevent us from pursuing it. Thanks, though.

Unfortunatley its not possible. But you could subscribe to your RP's and then come online and go to your subscribed threads in your CP and that will only show your RP's that have been posted in after you. *shrug*

Sorry about this, I just noticed that no one ever responded to your idea. I think it's a great one and we'll definitely keep it in mind when we're thinking about planning an activity.

I'm not sure where you're looking for avatars, then. It's been my experience that 100X100 pixels is the standard for avatars (most of the avatars we provide for your use are 60X60, I think but, you can insert your own up to 100X100 pixels which is the maximum- so you can have smaller icons). I don't remember the last time I saw any bigger than that and that's our limit.

I can understand being a little upset over the 20kb limit since I know a lot of the fancy animated avatars can well exceed this limit but, it's enforced to help pages load faster for those with slower connections.

If you need help finding avatars that are 100X100, you can always head over to Madame Malkin's where many of our talented graphics makers converge and you can request pretty much whatever you want within SS Board rules.

This is when viewing the forums, right? The information's already there. Do you notice the envelopes at the leftmost side, besides the side bar? If the envelope looks like , it's either a red or blue color, then you haven't replied to it yet. If it's like , it's either a red or blue color, then you have already replied to the thread.

If you use the 'search thread' tool when viewing a forum and type in 'dolls' it will come up with a list of threads that have had the word dolls in it. This will narrow your search down to the shops that do create dolls

Wow this is a strongly thought up idea LOL. But Idon't think it will be possible, its not really all that necessary either and may cause future problems, like if we really wanted to do a night RP for the plot but we couldnt because the bar says its day time sort of thing, you understand?

I know lots of people want a way to tell what time of day it is, but we leave it open so that no one is hindered in their RPing. You can specify within your post whether it is night or day, but if I say it's night time, that means that everyone who's out enjoying the sunshine by the lake is out of character or RPing wrong... and we try to keep from structuring things SO heavily that anyone could be RPing the wrong thing . However, we have been thinking up ways to let people know what SEASON it is... which is a little less specific, but has also been requested.

I know that Kris has discussed this issue with someone already, and she and I are of perfect understanding. There really isn't a need for a Forbidden Forest thread on the grounds, as students would never go in there. We created one a few terms back to teach a class in, but it was closed once the class was finished. I realize that few students go into the Restricted Section, but they COULD if they got permission. Usually, some do... this time around, no one did until just recently.

The first 20 ranks are already listed in both the Newbie Hut (in the "guide to SS" thread) and also the rules & FAQ.

It's not a "higher status", the title you are referring to is called a tag, members can obtain them from staff on special occasions (such as the Christmas party last year), alternatively some admins may give them out randomly if they see a member do something memorable and such. Tags are also used by staff to list their jobs & responsibilities. The specific one you are referring to is one from the Daniel Radcliffe Fanclub. Some fanclubs have special officer positions for some/all of its members, which is shown with a tag.

Otty's suggestion: So I hate rules right, but I follow them because otherwise I would be forever banished from SS and noooooooooooo I can't live when SS crashes so ... but the rules are such a downer right (at least for me) so I was thinking (we could do away with them but since you're not) we could have something like The SS Bill of Rights.

The Bill of rights would be just a list of things SS'ers can do. Like say ...

You have the right to have fun in the forums so long as you don't bash ...

You have the right to remain silent ... oops sorry *Ottery's an auror in the real world*

Stuff like that, I'm not saying do away with the rules but something that else that could present them in a more positive, friendly less oppressive, for the hippies like me, light.

Just a thought ... mind you I don't mean replace the rules, just something else to maybe show them nicer. You could also have like:

You have the right to write fics ... and then put a link to where.
You have the right to RP here's how and a link to where ...
You have the right to worship Ottery ... he holds Love Meetings everyday in the love thread ...

So that last one's optional ... But you get the idea. Just a thought.

Ottery just likes to see us all work hard, I think. Haha. It's not a bad idea at all though. You can consider it noted and we'll bring it up to the higher beings.

Also if you do like this idea I would love to be the one that sets it up even though I am not a mod or admin I would love this responsibility, and would be honored to have it. no joke, but if you choose someone else I will understand

I can say with full confidence that we have thought about this and looked into it. We don't have one yet, but it very well COULD be in our future. We'll see.
