Nothing's wrong with homosexuality/bisexuality, really. Who cares who they like? It should be allowed. And, if it is, it should stay that way.

I know there are some sites who forbid it, and I sort of understand why, but there are quite a few sites that allow it as well.

Or maybe just allow it in fan fictions. That would be just as well. And maybe even in FanFictions and roleplaying/advanced roleplaying.
We have a rule against discussion of homosexuality and use of homosexual characters on the site outside of the Charing Cross Road forum. It is a rule put in place by the owner of the site and regardless of individual feelings on the matter, isn't something that is likely to change. I'm glad you understand that there are those sites who would prefer not to allow homosexual characters and I encourage you to play on those sites that do if you feel the need to creatively express yourself in that way.

People in the Dark Force Defence League are retired mods, people in the Order of Merlin are retired admins, and people in Special Services to the School are retired school staff members. Sometimes a staff person was a member of all three groups at one point or another so, they get to choose what group they are put into. Retired staff people are also able to go back into a house and sometimes will retain one of those uergroups as an extra title as thanks for their service to the site.

Depending on what forum you are trying to post in, after you post a new thread you'll see a screen with a message that says something to the effect of "Your thread has been sent to the moderation queue for approval. Now redirecting you back to the forum." Then, you are taken back to the forum but, you won't see your thread there. Most of the forums on SS are set up so that your thread needs to be approved by a moderator before it is posted (this is due to the vast number of threads out members start which don't follow the rules). You may have to wait up to 48 hours for your new thread to appear. However, if your thread doesn't meet with approval (it is a duplicate of another thread in the forum, it was submitted to the wrong forum, or otherwise violates the rules of the forum to which you are posting), the mod will just delete it. Most mods do not (and are not required to) notify you if your thread has not been approved so, if it's been 48 hours and you still don't see your thread, you can PM one of the forum moderators (just look at which people are listed as forum mods in the bottom righthand corner of the forum) to ask why it wasn't approved and see if you can't fix it so that it will be.

There is no set schedule for classes. Check the individual class offices or keep an eye out for when they start. Some professors will announce classes ahead of time and others will just start them up whenever. Just jump in when you can.

So far as I know they help save posts and such, but take that with a grain of salt. I am sure we will learn more about them in the future.

You will find that your number is now added to the end of the URL now =]

Or will they be changed again the way before?
They will be staying like this. It helps gain the site hits and is better way of people finding us through search engines and stuff. It also better defines the forum or thread you are in.

If your myspace does not have any swearing, inappropriate images or topics etc. It will be okay.

You could use this tag [*url=www.myspace.com/yourmyspaceusername]Myspace.[*/url] to get a link, just remove the * so it will come up like this: Myspace.

If you want a banner to be a link then your tags would be like so:

[*url=www.myspace.com/yourmyspaceusername][*img]insertimageurlhere[*/img][*/url]

Removing the * again to make it work properly.

No, there isn't a setting for permanent posting preferences. Making your text a certain font and colour can be done for each post with only a couple of clicks, so having a tool that saves those settings would probably be somewhat a waste of resources. Perhaps if you find it too tedious, you're using the basic editor instead of the standard or advanced, WYSIWYG editor? Both of those apply text changes with the click of a button. The Standard will show you codes, and the WYSIWYG shows you how it will look after posting (it stands for what you see is what you get.) We can't make it more simple than that, I'm afraid.

Screen caps of each are below. You can change your reply editor in your user control panel. It's the bottom section of the page when you click 'edit options' from your menu.

Diagon Alley is only open during the sorting period, before the school term begins. It's closed now because term has begun.

Only sorted members may access Diagon Alley, the Hogwarts Express and the school. The next sorting will begin in June/July and there will be a big announcement, so you won't miss it.

PLEASE read the site Rules & FAQ and the entirety of this thread before posting your questions.

Thanks, I realize that all of you put A LOT of work into this site, and I appreciate it very much!
Those numbers actually aren't enrollment numbers, those are the house points. Looks like Hufflepuff students are doing better/more in their classes than the Slytherins.

It was probably a harmless glitch. Nothing to worry about. If it does happen again let us know and I will bring it up with our technical team to see if we can figure out why. Otherwise, i'd just ignore it

Banned members get that way by either consistently breaking rules or by breaking a really serious rule (like sexual predatory behaviour, for which we practice ZERO tolerance). It often happens that the banned member has previously made legitimate posts that don't break any rules, and there really is no reason for us to remove those posts. Banning the member doesn't wipe all evidence of their time on SS, it just prevents them from returning after having committed enough offenses.

The best way to keep a clean record here is to read and follow the site rules and FAQ, and to always remember that SnitchSeeker must be a safe environment for people of all ages. Most of all, be kind and respectful towards others.

There might be. Several of us noticed it (and as you know, I blamed my e-mail account) and we have already posted this question to Dumbledore privately. Hopefully we'll find out soon and have it fixed. Meantime.. we apologize for the inconvenience. Be sure to check your subscribed threads list from your User CP daily so you don't miss the stuff you counted on reminders for.

Yep you do. Go here in Madame Malkins, and read all the rules first. Once you've done that you can submit your signature.

Even, just to ask, why isn't the thing of the next sorting on the main page, being updated?
The only thing Un-sorted members cannot do is participate in the school RP. You can still participate in theory discussions in Flourish and Blotts (Books), join fan clubs in The Three Broomsticks (Fan Clubs), post and read fan fiction in Grimmauld Place (FanFics & FanWorks), talk about non-HP things in Leaky Cauldron (Non-HP), Role play in Knockturn Alley (RPG) and participate in all the other areas of the site. SnitchSeeker is jam-packed full of entertainment. (For example, I don't personally RP at all, and still have LOTS to do. )

The front page gets updated by Dumbledore, and he's just been too busy to get that little bit edited. We're sorry for the inconvenience and hope to get that fixed very soon.

It depends where you are roleplaying. If it is in the school RP, it is not mandatory for you to post a profile, however you must do this for the roleplays in Knockturn Alley. You simply go to the roleplaying thread you wish to join and post your profile and then wait patiently for a response. Sometimes you don't even need a profile if its canon characters such as Harry or Ron etc.

It's not silly, I had to learn when I first started out too.

If you look down the bottom right corner of a post, you will see there is a button there that says "quote". Just click on that, and you will be taken to a place where you can write your own message under this quote. Then just hit submit message like you would when you normally post.

Or, you can also copy the text you wish to post and paste it into reply. Then you surround the text with [quote.] TEXT HERE [/quote.] but just take out the full stops.
