First and foremost, before you ask a question in this thread, please be sure you've read through the The SS Board Rules and FAQ.

Other frequently asked questions can be found in this and other posts in this thread. Make sure you give this thread a quick browse before asking your question to see if has already been answered in the most recent pages.

One of the common questions we see in this thread, over and over and over is: "I posted a thread in ____ forum and it disappeared. What happened?" The answer to this question is that in many forums, threads need to be approved by moderators BEFORE they appear in the forum. You should get a nifty message after you post the thread telling you this. For future reference, We've listed the forums where you currently need to have your threads approved:

Some people are unable to access the links in the Sections tab at the top of the screen. Unfortunately, this is a glitch that affects some people and it's javascript related. We haven't been able to fix this problem and there are a few places which only have easy access through the Sections tab. The dates for the next sorting, Hogwarts Express, start of term, final exams, end of term, etc can be found on the front page in the School RPG block toward the bottom with the house points counter.


If you couldn't find the answer to your question in the Rules and FAQ (shortcuts to the various sections are listed above), you may post your answer in here for a staff member to answer.


Please refrain answering questions if you are not a member of the SnitchSeeker Staff Team.

It's not that we mind you helping; quite the opposite is true actually. It's more that mods are trained to know the up-to-date answers, the whole answers, and have the ability to check things not everyone is able. If you see us slacking on answering (it happens, we know) that you absolutely know you can help the members with: by all means, VM them and be your wonderfully helpfully self. SS Staff would appreciate it, the member would appreciate it, and that is what SS is all about anyway: community.

Depending on what forum you are trying to post in, after you post a new thread you'll see a screen with a message that says something to the effect of "Your thread has been sent to the moderation queue for approval. Now redirecting you back to the forum." Then, you are taken back to the forum but, you won't see your thread there. Most of the forums on SS are set up so that your thread needs to be approved by a moderator before it is posted (this is due to the vast number of threads out members start which don't follow the rules). You may have to wait up to 48 hours for your new thread to appear. However, if your thread doesn't meet with approval (it is a duplicate of another thread in the forum, it was submitted to the wrong forum, or otherwise violates the rules of the forum to which you are posting), the mod will just delete it. It isn't possible for everyone to be online at the same time, which is why most classes remain open for a few days to accommodate all timezones. You can participate when you are online. Yes, it is possible to earn extra points. You should ask any Professor and see if they need help with anything. Maybe ask the Groundskeeper/Herbology teacher if he needs help watering his pumpinks. See if Miss Kimber, the Librarian needs help putting books back on their shelves. (These are examples, not sure if they would give out points.)

There are many things one could do. Ask away - but be aware that the Professor characters might not be generous with giving out housepoints - it's nothing personal, just an IC thing

Yes! You are most encouraged to RP your Ministry character, even if you are not sorted into a house.

The Ministry and School RPG are two separate things, so you do not need to be sorted to play in the MoM.

You mean that your pictures are not showing up, and when you click on your own album, other album pictures can be seen?

Unfortunately, the site is experiencing some bugs and it seems you have been affected. You are not alone though, and the site techs are aware of this and are working to fix the problem.
We hope this wont be occuring anymore, soon.

They are called 'tags' and are put in randomly by admins, and sometimes we have special events where you can request. Hang around active areas of the site and you'll get one soon enough I'm sure.

To turn a link into a word, you would take the normal URL code: [URL ="Link goes here "]And put text here[*/URL], without the asterisks * and spaces.

As for the spoiler box, there isn't a little picture button for that. The coding is easy though! [spoiler=title here]text and/or image here[*/url], again without the asterisk.

Accounts are rarely deleted once they have been registered. If you have a reason, such as security problems, with your account then PM any admin and we'll work up a fix for you. But, if you simply don't wish to use your account anymore - then that's no big. We keep MOST (if not all) accounts around though because more times than not, members change their mind and find their way back to SnitchSeeker.

But please do PM me, or any other admin, if you have an account issue.

You're not blind! Currently the Ministry is going through some moves and changes and all sorts of new (AND EXCITING) stuff. More information here. Tentatively, if you can hold out for roughly a month on us, we'll have Ministry Employment and all re-started for you and others. =)

That looks like a hunt item! Sometimes we have events where we place secret items in posts, and give clues for people to find the item. I'm guessing it's a fanclub hunt, as it is within the fanclubs. It's not a stupid question!

We did. The data is not for public viewing at this time but will be used behind-the-scenes where needed. All of the feedback given has been taken on board and we really do appreciate people taking time to fill in the survey.

There won't be a mass PM or email, but there will be a few cues for you. We always put up a News article announcing our Sorting, and usually an additional notice or two will go up, too.

Also note that the Sorting last for a couple of weeks. So, if you miss the opening of the Sorting on the 5th, there is still plenty of time for you to get Sorted.

If you wish, you can play like your character has been present for all classes and just advance onward. In other words, it's up to you; there will be no consequences coming from the Staff. There ARE exams, but they are not required. Your character - do what would make you happy with her story.

When you log in, there is a little box that says "Remember me" under the password area. Check that and you'll remain logged in. Otherwise, the site automatically logs you out after a while (I THINK it's half an hour, but I'm not totally positive).

Those are called Tags. For the most part, those are given out by Admins whenever we happen across something a member has said/done that would make a good Tag. From time to time though, we have events that we make them editable by YOU.
