This is a question that has been addressed numerous times, in the FAQ, and in the relevant news thread and multiple times in the Questions Thread in this forum and the Questions and Answers thread in the newbie forum.

You won't get an immediate answer as our sorting quiz is hand sorted by admins (which makes it ultra special and unique, as what you write is taken into account in a way that wouldn't be possible with an automatic quiz). It usually takes around 48 hours, but because we have so many new members due to Pottermore, you can expect it will take a bit longer.

You'll know when you are sorted because your username will change to a colour that corresponds to your house, and you will get a PM from the sorting hat (or an admin) to officially welcome you.
