If Lily had lived, what do you think her relationship with Harry would have been like?

Would she have been the 'cool' mother who gets along great with her child? Would she have mothered Harry too much and caused him to rebel against her and not be close to her? Hey, as long as she's surviving, what if she and James had another child and Harry had a brother? Or a sister???

Come on, guys, I'm just giving you ideas here!!!

Personally I think she'd find just the right mix between loving mother and 'cool' mom, bother very protective and motherly but at the same time get along great and be the mom a teenage boy wouldn't be afraid of talking to in public.

I think that she would have spoilt Harry like the Dursley spoilt Duddly and then it would have been a shame because he would have acted spoilt, I think that anything that Harry wanted he would keep.

Well i think that if he was spoilt, it wouldn't have gone to his head at all! I think he would never have met the Dursley's, just known about them.

I think Lily would have been a great mum to Harry, and a great Wife to James. I dont think another child comes into the picture, And no matter what happened between Lily and Harry. Harry would always love his mother.

I agree that he might have ended up being spoiled, but I think that since Lily and James were such down-to-earth people they would have found the right discipline to keep Harry from getting as spoiled and bratty as Dudley. Certainly at some point, (say, a Dursley funeral perhaps due to over-eating??? lol) he would have met them, but of course he wouldn't like them or have to live with them.

Tho, I like to think a little sister could have come into the mix... It just seems likely She woulda been all tiny and cute and Harry would be all overprotective and all....

I do believe that Harry would have turned out a lot less selfless than what he is, but I think that with Lily as his mother, he wouldn't have been a second James/Sirius. I rather picture him as a proud, Gryffindor-y person who is popular and knows it but also is well aware of where his boundaries are and what is right and wrong.

And Lily would have reinforced him acting according to those rights and wrongs. Because, I personally think would have been a wonderful mother to more than just Harry.

Of COURSE she would've been a wonderful mother to more than just Harry because as I said up there^^^ I think he'd have had a little sister she fought so selflessly for Harry to survive as a baby (we can see where Harry got it from, even if I find him to be quite the annoying little twit, always being so self-pitying and uncaring towards himself) I think Harry would have been a lot LESS annoying, had his parents survived.

I think that in school, Harry would have become prefect and head boy and not have had to be so focused on saving the world all the time that maybe he could study and be as good in classes as Hermione.

But, of course, Lily would have been there throughout the whole time to help him along if he ever needed it.

As long as Lily lives, Harry will not be the same. I agree to those who said that he'd be a little bit spoiled which's every only child's mark And I think that James would transfer his 'carelessness' on to his child if he lives. So, we'll have a careless, cute, brave, and hyper Harry. On the other hand Lily would try her best to make something special of her son. She'd teach him all about making the right choices in life and of course she'll be AWESOME but I think Harry would never know the value of his mother while she's around and giving him ultimate love. I mean he'll love her very much and all but not the way he did after she was dead.

I don't think they'd spoil him, sure they'd be sure to give him what he wanted and all, but Lily would probably teach him that he can't have everything, or something like that.
She'd be a pretty relaxed mum, I'd say, she doesn't really seem like the really stressed out, over-bearing mother to me.

I'm sure Lily would have been a wonderful mother, but probably James would have spoiled Harry more and Lily would have been the more authoritative parent, the one responsible with discipline. That's how I see it. But sure, she would also be the 'cool' mum type. Regarding other children, I do think that the Potters would have wanted a brother or sister for Harry had they lived, but they definitely wouldn't have a family the size of the Weasley family. And a bit besides the point, I just saw the opening scene of the final trailer: Lily telling baby Harry to be strong and safe. It was heart-breaking.

Yes! That scene made me cry.
Lily is one of my favourite characters, she's so strong and I think she'd really support Harry in whatever he did.

I think she would have been one of those that cared for him, but allowed him to live. Watch as he grew, and learned from his mistakes. She knew the dangers of the world at that time but knew the only way he'd learn was if he discovered it for himself.

She cared and loved him a lot, the last scene of him and Lily together was heartbreaking but it showed how much she loved him!

I think that if Lily had lived, that her relationship with her son would have been good. She would have been caring and sometimes strict, but she knows from experience you have to learn from your mistakes (^above) and that you never learn until you try.At times like any other mom she probablly would have gotten over protective when Harry was out there playing qudditch or something like that, gotten mad when Harry brought back bad grades or troubling notes.
