Aricca Jade "AJ" Silverstone Magical Creatures | Discussion: The Lily/James Relationship Impending Crush, Or Simply Denial? Quote: |
Originally Posted by blonder_than_u It seemed to me that Lily and James's relationship was an impending crush, where they seem almost fated to be together. I know my self that sometimes in "impending" crushes the girl or guy pretends not to like the other person. And who knows it might be something like a Freudian Slip, where they were fighting and Lily/James yelled "I LOVE YOU" instead of "I Hate You". (this kind of thing does happen, studied them in Psychology this past semester). I also think that Lily and James's actions somewhat mirror that of both Ron and Hermiones, and Harry and Ginny's. In Ron and Hermione's case its the constant fighting and bickering, which Lily and James had from the start. And in Harry and Ginny's case, its the flip of Lily and James's, this being that Harry didn't know he had feelings for Ginny or didn't develop them until he was nearly in 7th year, and its also the mirror image because James liked Lily for a long time, and Ginny in this case like Harry for a long while (since first year). | Credit for this topic goes to blonder_than_u.
Okay so this discussion thread is not to stray beyond reason away from the thoughts of whether the Lily/James Relationship was anything more than an impending crush or denial. Please keep conversation short and stay on topic.
I felt out other discussion was dying, just about everyone's said all they had to say on that matter, perhaps this one is more popular. Remember: All SS rules apply here, be kind to everyone's opinions and posts, they are entitled to state their own thoughts without getting their heads bit off!!! Be nice and treat everyone with respect, follow the rules, or I might delete your posts.
Now lets get talking about their relationship!!! |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Aidan Niall Taite Sixth Year | I believe Ginny represents Lily >.<. I cant help it. Seriously, with the way Rowling describes the red hair, its obviously hinting.
Myself. I believe the relationship stirred thanks to the lovely Severus, Lily wanted to get back at Snape. She didnt realise Snape loved her though, she hung out with James just to hurt him, but fell in love with James.
Something along those ideas? |

Aricca Jade "AJ" Silverstone Magical Creatures | Honestly I think that Lily maybe even enjoyed James picking on her because he was an attractive boy, and deep down, all girls like attention from cute boys. This was kind of an impending crush, I think just because of how they act toward each other... While I'm sure she didn't enjoy some of the stuff James did, Snape was her best friend and she just COULDN'T like her best friend... it's too awkward when that stuff happens...
I think it was more of an "I want to hate you but I can't" thing for Lily towards James. |

Ariana Dumbledore Department of Mysteries | Hm... I disagree in a way. I think that Lily didn't like James at first because of how he was acting to Severus. However I think that when Severus called Lily a mudblood, Lily realised that he cared more about his new Slytherin friends, then her. And then I think she realised how much James had changed in looks, and started to fall for him then. |

Aricca Jade "AJ" Silverstone Magical Creatures | So do you think she was more attracted to his looks than his personality? Surely this was the truth, at least at first, but when she really got interested in him and began dating, was it only the looks or personality, do you think?
I think that Snape calling her 'mudblood' did help some in making her like James more, but I'm not really sure how much, if it was a major factor or only a minor factor... |
