Hogwarts RPG Name: Lily Avada First | I love all the HP books, and this one is no exception. The only problem I had was that sometimes it seemed as if JKR was just throwing things in because she needed a way out of a situation or because well it just worked for the moment. But other than that, I loved it, and I'm still sad it had to end. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | Wow, it was the best. But, I'm reading some people saying that finishing it within 16 hours, or so, is a long time. Au contraire, my friend's. Although, I could easily finish it in 16 hours, I would never even think about doing so. Because, for one it would sully the experience to greedily gobble it all up in that short matter of time.
No, I prefer to sip it like a fine wine, taking weeks, and even months to finish it. Because this first reading of this last book only comes along once in a lifetime, and I wanted it to last as long as it possibly could. I would take time with each page, reading only a few every time I opened it up, and then closing it quickly, so that I might marinate on all I had just taken in.
No, the HP books are a magical experience for me, and not one to hastily breeze by as if it were some lesson handed out by my English teacher. Also, I'm a busy guy, and don't have all day to read books (I wish.)

| I loved The Deathly Hallows. I hated finishing it, Iwanted to keep reading. It is the best book of the series---so far I've read it 4 times. Can't wait to see how the film turns out. I hope they don't cut out many of the key parts. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Enberlyn Sanders Fourth | After waiting for so soooo long for this book to come out...I was extremely excited to read it and realize how amazing it was!!! J.K. Rowling is a genius!!!
I dont think she could have made the book any better. The worst part about this book was the fact that its all over, that was the last book in the series and that really stinks!! My favorite quote from the book is when Harry tells Dumbledore not to be scared and he says..."I'm not scared Harry, im with you." That was so great!!! =]=] |

Sixth | I knew Hermoine was smart, but some of her reactions to situations were truely supersonic. I did not agree with the death of Dobby. The only reason I saw for it was to prove that Harry was no ordinary wizard, and of course, we and the entire wizarding world already knew it. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | the last chapter was awosume. i had hoped in book 5 harry & cho would get together, but by book 6 it was clear ginny & harry were 'bershet' , ment for eachother. and harry telling his younger son that the sorting hat let him pick his own house by not wanting to be in slytherin, that was the best part of the book for me except when harry has the stone in the forest & is reunited with his family. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Anna Greingoth Fourth | I actually think there should have been 8 books in the series and not just seven. I think it should have stopped at 8, though. I think it would have ruined the "specialness" of the series to go any further than that.
My reasoning is that book 7 should have ended with the last chapter before the epilogue, and then book 8 could have told us how life went on after the war (instead of having the epilogue in book 7). I realize JKR can't answer EVERY question we had/have or address EVERY situation, but I just think a short book 8 would have justified the ending better. Book 8 could have picked up with all the students finishing their seventh year, holding graduation, telling us how Hogwarts was rebuilt, etc. Then the last chapter could have addressed the future and all.
I thought about this when JKR had that BIG chat right after the last book and answered a TON of questions. I think there would have been less questions about what ended up happening to everyone and such if she wouldn't have made book 7 the end. In my opinion, it would have been better than just that one epilogue.
Even still, I am a HUGE JKR/HP fan, and I feel lucky just to have "been along for the ride" with the seven spectacular books we did get!
As for book 7, I think it was absolutely amazing. One of my favorite two characters died, and the couple I always hoped would get together didn't, but on a deeper level, I loved the way the whole Harry/Voldemort situation played out. It was a beautiful conclusion to the entire series. I think the bad got what was coming and the good got what they deserved. Not to mention the THREE characters that I absolutely felt HAD to live did live!
My absolute favorite part (besides the ending chapters) was the chapter that focused on Snape. It answered so many questions and explained so much. There were equal amounts of smiles and tears there.
When I first opened the book and read the two peoms, I thought, "Ooohh, no, we are in for a wild ride." Especially that part that said, "Bless the children, give them triumph now." And then the parts of the poem that talked about death...I knew then that there would be a ton of deaths.
There were parts where I had to stop, close the book, and then compose myself before I started reading again. I also stopped right before the last few chapters to really let it sink in that after I read these last few chapters, there will be no more NEW chapters *sigh*.
I rated it in this poll as "THE BEST!" Any HP book will always be dear to my heart. One of the main reasons I love the series is that JKR made all the emotions real. In real life, people die, people go through hard times and good times, people are used, etc. It made me connect to the stories more.
My hat is off to you, JKR! Thanks for a WONDERFUL 10 years of books! |
