As the prophecy said, neither one can live until one kill another.

I'm with Master Ivan, the prophecy said that, exactaly, so Harry has to be the one!!!

this discussion is kind of stupid cause we all know what JK said about Harry being the one to kill the stupid Voldy............

my theory is like this,
dumbledore has said to harry that voldemort have shifted
some of his power to harry and maybe some of his live to harry too so
thats the reason y he didnt kill harry
and second reason can be of the profecy as other has said

well, its really obvious that harry has to kill you-know-who. the story wouldn't make sense if someone else killed him. the battle is between harry and you-know-who, not dumbledore and you-know-who.

Harry is the one to kill Voldy. It was obvious in the last prophecy

It says in the 5th book that either Harry needs to kill Voldemort or the other way around. The one can't live if the other is still alive. One has to eventually kill the other.

What if Harry is not the one mentioned in the prophecy. What if it's Neville after all. It's not impossible is it!!!! Joanne has suprised us before with here brilliant and unpredictable writing.

What if Harry doesnt win??

Harry is the one who will kill Voldemort in the end. And I believe that he will WIN. Well I did read somewhere (can't remember where) on the net that Dan Radcliff is thinking that Harry might die after killing Voldemort. As much as I hate that idea, it might even make sence in one way or another. Don't misunderstand me, but his whole life have been centered around the fact that he is the one to fight Voldemort in the end. I have also heard a rumour that a main caracter is going to die.
My romantic and life loving heart would break if Harry or one of his close friends would die. Because in my opinion Harry truly deserves happiness and most of all love, in his life. I'm rooting for Ginny to be the girl who finds the way to his heart.

What if both of them died at the hands of each other. Perhaps both of them will died and harry will rise from his ashes and live again because his parents what him to live? And for Voldy eternal torment or perhaps some kind of peace. Maybe he will stop hating himself but i think not.

I think that if Dumbledore had killed Voldemort, he'd have killed Harry as well, because they share parts of the same soul (?) or something.

who knows who will die, but I think Harry will live if he kills Voldemort,even if the prophecy states that they both must die becuase one can't live while the other one is dead(?)or something like that.

That's right. Harry has to kill Voldemort. He can be the only one to do so. Voldemort has to kill Harry.

I Think that Harry and Voldemort have to fight! And sadly I don't know if either will come out alive! At least thats what I got from The Prophecy! Read that chapter and then think about it!!

I think we'll just have to wait 'til book 6 comes out, perhaps we'll have a hint about it in that book.

I know Dumbledore has plans for trying to stop Voldemort, but does Harry have to kill him or does Neville? Cuz both boys were born on the same day and Dumbledore said that one person will die while the other lives.

Obviously harry has to be the one, it would be cool if he did it with a spell that involved hermoine ,ron, ginny, and Lupin or dumbledore.
