I thought it would be obvious that it was because the Prophesy said Harry has to be the one to kill him.

I guess I'm sticking with what she wrote in OotP. The prophecy clearly states that Harry and Voldemort have to face each other one day. I doubt that Dumbledore has enough power to kill Voldemort, 'cause he told Harry about that mysterious door in the Department of Mysteries that can't be opened by the students, ooh... I hope that will be solved in HBP.
Anyways, I don't think that Dumbledore would be converted to the Dark side, nor would he convert Voldemort. That's too clichè-ic (if there's such a word).

I'll go with 'According to the Prophesy, Harry has to be the one to kill him' . It says in Ootp that those two have to face each other again,so if the prophecy states so then it shall be stated.

I thought it was pretty obvious too (that Harry has to kill him) but why? I mean why can't anybody else do it? And why would JKR think it's such a mystery when it's obvious to all of us that Harry has to do it? I guess she means we need to think of why specifically Harry has to do it. Maybe I will make that the next poll.

I`ve answered "According to the Prophesy, Harry has to be the one to kill him",
but it is possible "You-know-who is the real Hero of these books", because
if Voldemort would be dead, there wouldn`t be the one, who Harry is fighting, and,
at last, Harry woudn`t be able to revenge for his parents.
And there is a possibility that Dumbledore couldn`t kill Voldemort. That`s also possible!

To me since that books are almost done. And she does like to surprise her readers that you-know-who may be a good guy. and that the prophesy may ahve been read wrong.

I agree with ally221289, and Rovie and everyone else that is saying that harry is the one to kill voldemort. It said in the prophesy that the person who is born as the 7th month dies and so on, will have the power to kill Voldemort. But i think the way in which he has to be killed is a way no one will even think about.

I voted "I don´t know" but I was -this- close to vote "Voldemort is the real hero". Honestly, we know nothing about how much Dumbledore knows.... but if there was a way he knew, yes, then that´s the most original and probable answer (hehe, shows how my mind work). But then again...

Nop, I think there´s much more than "the prophesy" helping Voldemort scape. (Seems Dumbledore and me put pretty much the same thread-idea, hehe)

i think that harry potter will kill lord voldemort. but i also think that harry might die in the prosess.
