Let me address them one-by-one... Quote: | A download section, complete with picture and poster images, wallpapers, specifically SS site designed and created wallpapers that have SS title or logos, so that members can display on their desktops their love for SS. Mutimedia, video or sound clips. HP related fonts (I know they're out there, I have several myself). HP screensavers, and specially an SS screensaver. HP and SS avatars, buddy icons, ect. | Love it!
The "problem" is that downloads are very server-intensive and demand a lot often creating high loads which can slow down a site. This is of course dependant on the size of the downloads, and most of what you mentioned can be relatively small in size (no bigger than what the image gallery offers at least). The exception would be the "multimedia" because we had it when we first started out (two years ago) and were forced to take it down. Then we offered clips from the film, segments of the audio books, mp3's from the soundtrack, etc. I would love to add such things but WB didn't like it too much.
Wallpapers, AIM icons, fonts, screensavers, etc. can definitely be done. We'll add a Download section to the to-do list. Quote: | An SS Store where members can buy HP and SS site promotional products, T-shirts, hats, mugs, posters, pens, pencils, keychains, figures, HP toys or other products, the books, videos, DVD's, ect. ect. ect.... | This is on the way. It's been on the list for a while. We just have a few things ahead of it. Still 2-3 weeks down the road though. Wish it could be sooner. :-/ Quote: | An off topic fanart gallery for non-HP related art, although there is probably little hope of that one, because we used to have one, very briefly, but apparently it wasn't a very popular or highly accepted idea and was quickly deleted. | We had one (like you say) breifly but two or more of the staff (Admins) didn't want it because of all the "suicidal" and immature stuff that was getting added. I love the idea of promoting art and creativity, but we need to try to limit it some how.
We may come back to this (if there is enough interest) but if we do there will be some stricter rules and guidelines as to what can be included.
We want this to be an uplifting place, not a depressing meloncholy pit-of-dispair. Quote: | A games section, other then the forum games (Zonko's), that has a few flashplayer type interactive games or trivia quizes. | I love this idea, and I love making Flash games (or Flash anything!).
The problem is that making good games requires a lot of time, and though Squally and I are both proficient in Flash (probably Squally more than me), there are so many things to do it's hard to find the time to make some games.
I will definitely keep this on the shelf though, and hopefully we can add some cool stuff to the games section.
Thanks for the great suggestions!
I'm only here to serve. |

| Other: the other main things I look for in a HP site, or any other forum, are:
The staff.[mods and admins]
On some sites the admins and mods can be nazi-like in the way they do their jobs. And that makes for a really bad atmosphere.
The users. SS has a really diverse population of users. And everyone gets on, because they have enough respect for each other. It's really nice to be part of.
The forum. How a forum looks, and how easy it is to navigate are important too. If I can't navigate a site easily, I tend to loose interest, and find a better alternative.
Just my thoughts |

That's to say, there could be no two sites on the same subject, making SnitchSeeker a true reflection of Harry Potter fans and their many interests.
So, say I got 5000 posts, I might want to set up a 5Gb site about Discworld, but someone is already designing a site at discworld.snitchseeker.com, so I could make a Snow Patrol site instead at snowpatrol.snitchseeker.com.
But my friend, who also gets 5000 posts, wouldn't be able to do a Snow Patrol one now and instead sets up harryandhermione.snitchseeker.com, a H/Hr page.
All subsites would, of course, have prominent links to the main Snitchseeker page as well as any relevant threads in the SS discussion forums. That would be great. | I like the concept, but I don't know if a postcount would be enough to earn such a privledge.
How we may do it is that people with a certaini post count, activity level (member for so long) and perhaps certain member status (premiere member for a small annual fee for example) could "apply" to run a sub-site.
The application would consist of mainly what the proposed site is about (theme), name, the member's qualifications for running a site (experience, skills, etc.) and so forth.
We wouldn't want it to be completely open to anybody (even using post-counts as a limiting factor would allow "anybody" to get one - they would just need to post a lot). The reason why not is because we would want to control them a bit more than leaving it totally up to individuals what they make a site on (since it is a reflection of ss using the ss name).
Thanks for the idea! |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Remus Viktor Lupin Fifth Year | Thanks for the new avatar selections. I especially like the new house crests that were added and the ones of Richard Harris as Dumbledore. Just the general selection of default choices are getting better. The quality is improving and the selection as well. Thanks whoever is responsible. |

Squally is terrific in Flash and I am also proficient. Both of us have made Flash sites before. The problem is just the amount of time required to do it. We don't make any money at this (all we make from banner ads etc. goes to pay the $300+ per month costs in running the site), so we still have full-time jobs, school, families, etc. |

I look for a chatroom on HP sites because it's very interesting to actually chat to other members from all around about HP and stuff |

| The chat is what is exactly needed to make this site one big hit! you need to have a cht box so that all the members can reply instantly instead of having to refresh their pages to look for new posts! |

SnitchSeeker does have its very own chatroom but its not up and running yet so you have to wait for sometime. |

| I was wondering if SS could have more contests like the t-shirt one we had a while ago. I think it'd be quite fun. For prizes, the winner could have access to like...an exclusive forum or that sub-site thing lauradonaghy was talking about.
While we're on the topic of exclusive forums and sub-sites, maybe we could have senior members (ahem, like on Deviantart.com), where the Admins choose certain people who have contributed to SS in some way, or have been a member for a long time, and make them senior members, they could have access to exclusive stuff (like special forums and pages).
And also, it would be really cool if SS could have some group projects, like; a bunch of members could get together and do something. For example, a group of members could make a list of all the creatures in "fantastic beasts and where to find them" and make an SS book of creatures; each person is assigned a creature, and they have to draw it, and write up a brief description. This is a great way for people to get to know other members I know SS used to have something like this, with the SS quill, but that was for the school, and I really would love it if we had some group stuff for all the members of the site |

I especially like your groups idea and your senior members idea.
We should have a staff (admin and senior mod) meeting soon and discuss how we can implement these things. |

| SS does have the best forums ever! Ah I love this place! Things that I want to see more of: images in gallery (I think a couple specified people should add to it like Marcella_Riddle does the news updates), downloads (ringtones, SS desktops, IM icons, screensavers, etc.), and definitely a merch store! |
