When I first saw the new layout I was quite surprised. It's definitely a change. But it's hard to say if I like it better. I definitely don't hate it. It looks much cleaner than the previous one I think. It's just going to take a little getting used to.  |

it is a bit too dark and gloomy to comfortably sit in for long amounts of time now lol
I really liked the old one, it was like home xD
I guess in time I could get used to this one... but if there was an option so that we could pick to use the other skin aswell, I'm afraid to say that I would pick it. | |

I'm loving the new layout. it's darker yes, but seeing as we are post-HBP i think it's understandable for us to be darker. I feel it reflects Harry's inner struggle.
That and i thought the old one was too green. | |

I love the look of the front page. Very cool, there's so much more there to catch your eye and bigger too so it's sure to catch your eye. But I have to say, I hate all the black on the forums...it's too dark, and it looks like every other HP site I go to...with all the black in the background. What is this a funeral parlor? LOL. But then again, I don't think you'd all like my idea of a layout with all the pastels and the carebears and Rupert pictures everywhere...*blushing* no my room doesn't look like that before you ask.  Okay, so yeah, maybe a little... 
Love the front page...but seriously needs to be brighter in here. | |

The homepage is spectacular. It's much more clean in presentation and eyecatching. The old one kind of bothered me because everything looked like it was just thrown together, plus it didn't have direct links to the areas of the forum. That's now solved with the new homepage.
As for the forum skins, I have to say that I liked the old one better. I don't know why, as blue is a very nice color, but I guess it's because I really got used to the old one. The old skin had been here since I joined the site. I see Emma is saying that they're working on making different skins avaliable. That would be awesome if the old one was one of those availiable choices. | |

Also, people need to be reminded that some of the skinning is still in the works, so watch for tweaks in the coming week or so.
Thanks to Rich and everyone else who worked so hard for this new design!
And yeah... I agree that it's a bit dark, but with the theme of HBP... it seems to make altogether too much sense. | |

Wow, nice poll! There should have been some in-between options though since most people probably don't "love it" or "hate it" but still thanks for all the feedback!
Personally, I agree with many of you who think this skin is a bit too dark for the forums, but that the front page is an improvement.
I had to throw this together quickly just to have something to better match the front page. Unfortunately, in my haste, I accidentally overrode the previous green one - which was supposed to remain as an option. So now I have to code it over from scratch. But it will be added back. It just won't be the default. I will probably call it "Slytherin green" or something.
So I appologize to all of you who find these colors more depressing. I promise to remedy that soon! | |
