Artist name: imaginarynumb3rs, but you can call me Beth! LINK TO ALBUM: Will be added when my first picture is confirmed
Materials used: I like knowing things, and when artists list their materials, I want to know what those materials are. Sure, I could Google it, but usually I’m too lazy. Therefore, I’ve listed the materials I generally use below, and if you click on the spoiler button, you can see the details. If, when posting an artwork, I use a media not mentioned below, I’ll put the definition with the picture. I’m not a professional artist, so please don’t believe the definitions are perfect. They are as I understand them, and if I’m wrong please let me know!
SPOILER!!: Mechanical Pencils
#2, .7 lead. I buy them usually at Walmart, and they’re just your average mechanical pencil, nothing fancy.
SPOILER!!: Colored Pencils
I am really computer inapt, so I do most of my coloring with colored pencils. The color pencils I use are Prisma Color. Colored pencils are wax + color; the more color in them, the more brilliant the hues are. Prisma Color pencils have more color than Crayola colored pencils. I have the 120 set, but you can buy anywhere from 1 to 132. They’re expensive, so I recommend buying them with a coupon or some form of discount. I bought mine at Hobby Lobby, but you can get them at almost any craft store.
SPOILER!!: Pens
When I ink (outline a picture in something other than pencil), I use whatever kind pen is lying around, meaning nothing particularly fancy. Most of the ones I use are the kind you can pick up for free at booths during fairs or other events. However, lately I’ve been experimenting with FABER CASTELL artist pens – S, F, and M – S being the smallest, M the biggest. I don’t have any reason for picking this particular kind, the package just had a lot of variation when it came to size. I bought these at Hobby Lobby too.
SPOILER!!: Windows Photo Gallery
This is just a program I found on my computer by clicking on a picture in my files. I use it to crop the images and mess with the saturation, fixing some of the color issues caused by the scanner and making everything pop.
SPOILER!!: Free Paint Program Online - Sketch & Paint!
I was introduced to this program during last term’s Ancient Runes final (Thank you Droo!). I use it to clean up any stray eraser lines caught by the scanner.
Favourite things to draw: I find guys extremely difficult to draw, so I enjoy drawing girls the most. I enjoy picking out outfits, and if I’m going with a historical drawing, I like to flip through my Pictorial Encyclopedia of Historical Costumes by Albert Kretschmer and Karl Rohrbach and pick and choose pieces I like. (I think this obsession with clothing is why I have major issues with Hermione’s wedding dress in the 7th movie being wine red instead of lilac).
Favourite HP fanartist/artwork: Firstly, I adore Mary Grandpré, the illustrater of all the Harry Potter books (even though she's not a fanartist, I figure she deserves a spot here). Then comes all the artists here on SnitchSeeker! DeviantART has some awesome ones as well!
Favourite non-hp artist/artwork: I really like Cicely Mary Barker, Norman Rockwell, Grant Wood, Raphael Sanzio, and any anything by Disney or Hayao Miyazaki.
Any other info: Sometimes I think I like to draw more than I like to write. Nothing can beat a good book however, so reading will always be first for me.
I’ve always enjoyed drawing, but I became more serious about it in 4th grade (I was 10) which was when I bought my first sketch book. I’ve learned to draw through looking at other people’s work, looking at the world around me, taking classes in school (pre college), reading books on it, and constant practice. I know I have a lot of work to do, and I would love, love, love any suggestions or critiques! I want you to be brutally honest with me – so if the head is too big, you need to say so (that happens to be one of my biggest issues)! If you’re thinking one (or all) of my drawing(s) is (are) the ugliest thing(s) you’ve ever seen in your life, I want you to tell me, but then maybe you could add how to go about making it better? Since I’m planning on this being mostly Harry Potter fanart, if I am inaccurate in anyway, I want to know (because believe me, I understand *coughlilacdresscough*)!
In the future, I would love to work with animations or be an illustrator (or both!).
So, without further ado, thanks for stopping by and viewing my art!
This picture is not yet up in the gallery, so until it is, I'm putting it under a textcut tag.
Text Cut: picture
Name: GOF: Ch. 26: pg. 505 (I'm so bad at naming things - suggestions for a better name are absolutely welcome!)
Characters/scenes involved: Dumbledore and the Chief Merperson after the second task.
Medium: Mechanical Pencil (and editing on computer)
Notes:
"Dumbledore was crouching at the water's edge, deep in conversation with what seemed to be the chief merperson, a particularly wild and ferocious-looking female." ~ J.K. Rowling
After reading Goblet of Fire again, I've decided that I like it better than Prisoner of Azkaban. The characters really begin to feel familiar and everything is so much more detailed.
This scene is one that has always popped out in my mind, and Dumbledore's always been one of my favorite characters (I cried when he died ), so I really wanted to draw this.
To be honest, I always pictured Dumbledore in a more manly pose, but I really wanted to draw his healed shoes, so let's just pretend he's in the process of crouching. If you read the earlier post, you'll know how hard it is for me to draw guys, so his beard saved my life! However, I think his head may be too big.
As for the chief, I tried to make her ferocious, but I'm not sure if I succeeded. What I am proud of is her profile, because I find it hard to draw people's face in that direction. Her head could be too big too, but I think part of it is her massive hair.
I really wanted to start my portfolio with a drawing of Dennis Creevey, but he has a beach ball head right now and can't be shown. Someday, hopefully, he will be displayed!
Anyway, let me know what you think!

I'm pretty sure school RP pictures don't count as official fanart. So these three are going to be in the spoiler tags for good.
First off is for Individual, who I hope wasn't too creeped out by the fact I had Evelyn pictures in my sketchbook.
SPOILER!!: Evelyn
Name: Evelyn the First Year Slytherin (the bad titles continue Sorry!)
Characters/scenes involved: Evelyn
Medium: Mechanical Pencil (just cropping on computer)
Notes:
I drew this in the car over Thanksgiving break. We (my family and I) were going on an 8 hour drive to visit my grandparents.
I've enjoyed reading about Evelyn since Individual posted her at the sorting. This is sort of how I imagine her in my head, except for, when I read I see things 3D and realalistic.
If I get around to posting more Hogwarts students (I'll ask for permission first, so don't worry! ), you'll see I part everybody's hair on the same side, unless I make a concious effort not to. I don't know why. A lot of my people also look like they have recessed chins. That's because this was drawn when I wasn't marking out the eye/nose/mouth/ear poportions on the face. I used to draw the eyes first, then the nose, and then there was usually no room for the mouth. But I'm working on it!
I think, with this picture, her head looks a bit big, and her neck might be a little stretched. I hope she looks like she's eleven years old - if your viewing this, please, please, please let me know how old she loooks. I can't remember what my mom thought, but I know it wasn't eleven.
SPOILER!!: Wesley for Muggle Studies
Name: Borrowed Clothes
Characters/scenes involved: Wesley, with Lucille's clothes
Medium: Mechanical Pencil (just cropping on computer)
Notes:
This is the newest of all my pictures posted so far; I think I drew it the night after reading the announcement for the Muggle Studies class 1 this term. Sadly, I didn't get to participate in it.
Wesley does not own any Muggle exercise clothes, so she had to borrow from Lucille (firenjen). Lucille is not really big, but Wesley is really small, so the clothes didn't exactly fit (except for the socks, which were her own).
In my head, Wesley actually does have a recessed chin and a down turned nose. When she's not wearing her hair to the side, she ties it back with a headband.
What I like about this picture is her legs, because Wesley is skinny and, therefore, has nobby knees. Her head is a tad on the big side, but otherwise I think it looks okay. Though, now that I look at it, her arms might be too long.
SPOILER!!: Wesley Semi-ish-realism
Name: Third Year Wesley
Characters/scenes involved: Wesley
Medium: Mechanical Pencil and my index finger for smudging (just cropping on computer)
Notes:
This is my favorite picture of Wesley. I drew it during Christmas Break, and was in the middle of my very first ever Drawing Class (now I'm in Painting) so I guess I was still in the realalistic mood (we did still lifes. landscapes, and portraits). It's not very realalistic, just because I don't really enjoy drawing that way, but it's more than my usual pictures.
What I love is her eyes, mouth, and nose. And her hair. I'm also really proud of her ears; they may look small, but that's because the hair's covering them up. I drew them with the right proportions, and that's something I've just started doing (when drawing from real life, the ears are generally from the eyes to the nose). The shoulders may be too small, though.
Oh, wow, Beth. You're so talented! *ish jealous*
Love your stuff! Especially the Wesley-Muggle Studies-Soccer one!

Beth! I never knew you were such an artist! I mean, I sorta knew since you drew Sarah and I such lovely Valentine's pics, but I didn't know this was a regular thing for you. And yes, I agree with Lisa, you are quite a talented girl!
I love, love, love that you have a thread for your artwork. I studied art in college and it's my favorite thing in the world, so I'm really excited to see your work!
I really love that first one you did of Wesley and her little legs, especially her knees and shoes - they are fabulous.
Please post more! (Especially if you do any of Mariel )
Why did you not say you had your own thread for your artwork, missy? You know how much I loved my Valentine's PP, and your new one of Super!Wesley!.....I am sooooo bookmarking this thread and stalking it endlessly.
I also have to say, that the drawings you did of Wesley up there ^^^^^ are gorgeous! Her little knock knees are just precious, and I really wish she was a real person who was related to me.It would so much fun spending time with her.
And I agree with MJ.Please post more! Plus anytime you feel like doing any Sarah ones that could also be used as PP's feel free!
