Actually Gary Oldman is 46 and he doesnt look that old anyways.
I had a hard time imagining what Lupin would look like, and I thought Thewlis did an amazing job. Personally, he made me like movie Lupin tons better than book Lupin, and re-reading the book after the movie made me like book Lupin a lot. That sounds complicated! ^ I really, really liked Gary Oldman... i agree, he doesn't look old... and he wasn't exactly all dressed up nicely there, either! :/

Shut up - he's not dead... he's... sleeping. Yeah, that's it - just like Neo, and Jesus... and Siskel.
Thank you. Sometiems I need someone to remember me that

I think Lupin was ' almost ok' but not 'outstanding'.... as I said in my previous post... which is far, far away :S

I must say I most certainly didn't picture Remus Lupin looking at all like David Thewlis, but you know what...I really liked it! He definately grew on me. I think he did a great job as Lupin, especially in the scene with Harry on the bridge and the boggart scene as well. I think if they the out the facial hair he would have been ever better!

I have to agree with you! Remus is the best! I can relate to having crushes on fictional characters! ( Link from Zelda! ) I also love Sirius as well!!

I love the way Thewlis portrayed Lupin. My only dislikes were the mustache and that his hair should have been a bit longer.

I pictured Lupin a lot different than Thewlis. Don't get me wrong, he's a great actor and I've seen several of his films but he just did not look like Lupin at all to me.

David is the reason i'm so obsessed with Remus Lupin lately. I think he was amazing and I hope he signs on to do ALL the other films he's in. I'm so disappointed he's not in GoF but he wasn't in the book I still want him in the film..

Cool

I was happy with the movie and who was all in it. At the time I couldn't wait for it to come out. It was and is my favorite book. I had heard of David Thewlis but I had never seen him in a movie till PoA came out. I thought he made a wonderful Lupin. As for Gary Oldman he was half the reason I wanted to see the movie. When I heard he was going to be in it I wondered how he would do the part. And the way he did it when he first came into the movie at the Shack that freaked me out. But in a good way it made me laugh.

I never noticed anything about him liking Lily in that way.
But I have to agree on the fact that that moustache of his was very wrong...
I didn't like it at all...
But he still is a great actor, especially for a role like this one.

i think he did a really good job but then the description of him was a bit off. i was expecting someone a lot different. i read the book and i seen the movie and i saw him and i was thinking who is that. when hermione said "Professor R.J.Lupin" i was just like that is not Lupin....or is it? so then i had to sit there for a while and i was just like OMG that is him lol.

whats wrong with fictional crushes? I have one myself. Be proud to love a "real" man from a book! lol (or woman, whatever the case may be)

and I didn't really like this Lupin. Don't get me wrong, Thewlis did an amazing job.... I just didn't like this Lupin. He was too Snap-ish for me (no insult intended there... I love Snape, it's just that this isn't what was required for the role) - way too cold and harsh.... I didn't get a "bestfriend" vibe off of the film as I did in the book.... but anyways, great film!

David Thewlis might not have been how I pictured Lupin (if I really pictured him at all). Just a young man, with a tired look and grey streaks in his hair and patched clothes. But I've come to like the look David showed a lot. I thought he did a great job considering he helped me realize how great a character Lupin is. Some say we wasn't "friendly" enough, but I think he was. He gave Harry advice, talked kindly to Harry about his parents, and was kind and easy with him during their private lessons. When he yells at Harry about being up late, I don't think he was mean or over the top. He can't sit Harry down and slap him on the wrist and say he was a bad little boy. And some mentioned the scene in class and the line he gave Neville. Obviously that was there to save a bit of time, if you read the book there's a disscussion over it. And David didn't come over mean at all.

Lupin was one of my favorite characters in PoA. He was a great teacher & friend to Harry. I thought the emotion came across well in the movie. I felt so bad at the end when he had to leave Hogwarts because he secret was out. He has to be the mosy likable werewolf ever!
