Richard Harris was great and hard to replace. But I think they chose the right guy this time. Gambon is just more how I pictured Dumbledore. He is more powerful than Harris was.

The new Dumbledore sure has his differences. The old one had Dumbldore's true personality: kindness and patience. The new Dumbledore has yet to work on this, for I felt a bit uncomfortable when he was shouting. I know it wasn't at Harry or any of the students in this particular film, but I felt better when the old Dumbledore did it.

However, if the new Dumbledore grew a beard, that would make his appearance closer to Dumbledore as he was described in the book.

But I still miss the old Dumbledore, hoping that he could portray the character throughout the whole series.

I apologize for using the terms "old" and "new" for Dumbledore (which Dumbledore did Harris portray and which one did Gambon portrayed by the way?).

Personally, I really don't much care for the new Dumbleodre. I think that Michael Gambon is a fine actor, but he doesn't capture the true spirit of the Dumbledore that's in the books. For one thing, in GoF, when Harry goes down with the other champions and the teachers all come in complaining and yelling that he cheated, Gambon runs hastily over to Harry and pins him against the wall. Dumbledore wouldn't do that. He would give Harry the benefit of the doubt, talk to him calmly and rationally, and conclude fairly. That was just one example of why I wasn't too thrilled with him.

I totally agree...Richard Harris was awesome! It's so sad that he died (RIP). The new Dumbledore is creepy and weird.

I think Gambon is pretty good, but most of us will never like him the best, or feel that he isn't as good or anything simply because we've all seen Harris first and have all of our opinions based upon that. if the roles were reversed and we had Gambon first, i predict that this same thing would be going on

I like the old Dumbledore much more. The new one seems kind of disgusting with his long, yellow fingernails... But I guess he'll grow on me...

They really could have found a better replacement for Richard Harris. Michael Gambon is so irritating. I wish he would just read the books so he can act more like Dumbledore and less like himself in the movies. That's the only reason why I'm glad that Dumbledore is dead, so we can have a Michael Gambon free movie seven.

I agree that the old DD was exaclty how alot of people, including me, pictured him to be. However I dont think its fair for you to say the new DD sucks. It isnt anyones fault that the cast had to change. they couldnt just leave DD out. I dont think you should say he sucks if thats the reason you are saying it. You have you're own opinions, I know. But if you;re judging him becuase you thought the other DD looked like what you had pictured than it isnt fair.

I personally think he did a good job, and he wasn't so far apart from how he looked , bedised younger and a shorter beard.

Michael Gambon plays a good Dumbledore and I will commend him for that. But he still is no match for Richard Harris. Although Richard harris is no longer with us on Earth, he is always and shall remain to be the true Albus Dumbledore

dont get me wrong i think that Michael Gambon is a brilliant actor but he can never replace Richard Harris. But he does a great job at it.

hmm...i don't really picture Dumbledore as a very hyper old man before the film was launched but in a way, he's alright i guess.

I posted this in another thread, but I will share this here too. Richard Harris was a great Dumbledore. Michael Gambonn just does not have that same kind of spark that RH had. I think that they should have gotten Ian McKellen to replace RH. He did a good job as Gandalf in LOTR. Just an idea that I thought would have been cool.

Michael Gambon is a more powerful actor, but I think that Richard fit Dumbledore's role better. Richard is more like a "wise, old mentor" type, the kind of man DD is supposed to be, in my opinion. I'm not saying that Michael is a more powerful DD, I'm just saying he's a more powerful actor. *hopes that's clear enough*

I like Michael Gambon, he is just how I pictured Dumbledore. Richard Harris just seemed too old and frail (not to be mean to him or anything!) and Dumbledore is always described as being full of life and stuff. I'm not sure how Richard Harris would have done had he not passed away suddenly. Perhaps he would have been better?

Well, to sum it up, I like the new Dumbledore
