I hope each of you have your own version of how sirius should be.So,Did you think Gary Oldman did a good job as the title charecter of the movie the prisoner of azkaban?
I felt Gary did a good job.

i think he did a really good job! there was this one part when he was in the shrecking (sp?) shack and idk he stood up or something but he looked like jack sparrow from pirates of the carabean... the way he was standing or something just reminded me of johnny depp... maybe it was that he was all tipsy looking lol

Eh, I don't know about Johnny Depp, but he did sort of give of the Jack Sparrow impression with the ragged clothes. And I think he did a splendid job of playing Sirius.

well..i can`t really comment on gary because he only came out at the ending which was kinda of lame!his performance was really short....but overall i think that gary oldman is ok...nth great about him!

Gary Oldman is a good actor, period! Even if his performance in PoA was short, I believe that he did a great job. I especially liked him in Airforce One.

He did a wonderful job even with the very little screen time that he had. I think he expressed his and Lupin's friend ship in a way I didn't see in the book.

i think gary oldman did a brilliant job as sirius! i wasn't sure about him at first, because i imagined sirius differently, but i take back what i said! he was really good!

I think that he did do a good job. Not what imagined but it worked for me anyway... I reckon others could've done a better job but ah well.

I think Gary did a wonderful job! He really portrayed Sirius as I saw him... even though he didn't look exactly like what I thought. I can't wait to see him in future Harry Potter movies!

Gary Oldman did a great job! He played Sirius perfectly! He looked a little different than I imagined, but he was still great! He played Sirius perfectly!

I'm going to get killed for saying this because apparently I'm the only one so far - but I thought Oldman did a horrific job! Not judging on looks, because that's opens up a whole new discussion - I thought he was awful. Gary is an excellent actor - I've seen the majority of his movies and liked him in nearly every one... in this film though, the one where his performance really mattered to me, I thought he blew it. He didn't embody Sirius for me... he wasn't funny or in posession of one ounce of 'coolness' - infact, I found it quite the contrary. He annoyed the you-know-what out of me! He acted like a staggering drunk... not someone who'd lost some of their sanity. And that whole scene where Lupin's turning into the wolf - Gary almost had me walking out of the theater. The only scene I thought he did well in was when he's saying good-bye to Harry - he toned it down a little for that scene. Overall, I loved the movie but Oldman just did not do it for me.

Not really. The ragged clothes were invented in the time of PoA the book which came way before the PotC film.

Gary Oldman is Sirius. I loved both him and Thewlis.

I think he did pretty good. I mean he wasn't as charming as I thought he would look, btt hat is probably just because he was dirty and ragged through the movie. Lol, if Johnny Depp would've played Sirius i think he wouldn't be so creepy. ^^

The way I see it, PoA is not the time for compassionate Sirius. GoF and OotP are for that. He's meant to be a mass murderer, he's been locked up wrongly for twelve years, of course he's going to be a bit batty and rightfully cheesed off. He simply could not go from murderer, to insane, to angry to compassionate all in one book or film. It would make no sense and seem rushed. GoF is the main place for the Sirius/Harry relationship to build. Realistically and cinematically it would've looked bad if a character had changed too drastically in the course of one film which is why we only saw one glimpse of compassion so that by the end, we know he's good.

Gary never immitated Johnny Depp.How can one think of that?If anyone is talking like this by seeing johnny depp in the pirates of the carribean,i think they are wrong.I mean the get ups might be a bit same but definetly Gary has his own style.though i dont know much about him,i can say that he has his own style.

Johnny doesn't come near the greatness that is Gary Oldman. Not even close.

And if anything PotC copied PoA as the book was written beforehand and the costumes are on the basis of what's written in the books and what advice jK gives the costume designers.

A) i agree with Emma Johhny Depp isnt close to the greatness that is Gary Oldman.

B)What has POTC got to do with Harry Potter?

C) the fact is that Gary OPldman did an amazing job as Sirius and i personaly felt for him threwout the last part of the film. the emoption that was going between Harry and Sirius when he is telling him that the people we love never really leave us. was magical (excuse the pun).

WOW....Gary Oldman was so goood in poA! he played Sirius realy good with very much emotion!!! and my friend (a girl) thinks he's cute! in brief:i liked the idea of puting Oldman as Black!

Hey i did'nt mean to comment marcella riddle's comment.I just read some others were saying that gary's clothes were a bit like johny depp's clothes in the pirates of the carribean,so i chose to answer them.Anyway marcella you are right about Gary.

Yes he did the most excellant job. He is the one to fit the shoe if you know what i mean.

In the book he came out at the end. But I think it worked perfectly. During the movie, you hear things about Sirius Black and you see is wanted posters all over the place. It's kind of scattered throughout the movie. It builds up anticipation and you're wondering about him and who he is. He comes out at the end, giving him a grander entrance. It worked great. Gary did an excellent job!

Yeah, he didn't look "good looking" like Sirius has been described, but that's what 12 years of Azkaban can do to you!
