I love the characters and the world. I first read Harry Potter at 14, when the movies were first coming out and I fell in love so hard with the world. I felt like it was what I had been searching for and even now it helps me when I need a friend most.

For years a could not read on my own because I had severe dyslexia. The Harry Potter series was the second book series I was able to read by myself after I got help with my dyslexia. They will always hold a special part in my heart.

I like the amount of work that went into creating the world and how it could possibly work as a society.

I love how the books took stereotypes about wizards, trolls, etc and made a full world from it that has its own way of working.

It's easy to get lost in the story and the imagination and thought that went into the story can't be beat.

And because of HP I only read book series now. I love when there is more than 1 book so you really get a chance to get to know the characters and develop 'relationships' with them in a sense.

When I read the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone for the first time, I was 10. I didn't have many friends then since I preferred staying at home reading but that story gave me courage. Even today, my high self-confidence is based on the quote of Dumbledore, "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

I was first introduced to the wizarding world after seeing the first movie in theaters and then I begged my mom to buy me the books. After reading all of them I've been obsessed for years. I went to London and actually got to visit the Warner Brother's studio and see all the behind the scene props.

Originally i didn't bother with the books. Then after watching GOF I was intrigued by the return of Voldemort as i thought the graveyard scene was done so well. I didn't want to wait until the next movie so picked up the OOTP and started to read (didn't bother going back to read the first 4). Then watched OOTP and realised just how different the books and movies are. So I went back and read the rest of the books. Probably re-read the series around 8 times now. It's pretty decent stuff after all

I think the reason I picked up the books originally was because my middle school had a system called "Accelerated Reading" or AR where we answered questions on a computer for books we had read. Harry Potter was one of the top point books. I found from there I really loved the books, although at the time only the first four were out.
I remember that by that time the books we were reading in class always seemed designed to teach us something, or make us question something. I enjoyed how Harry Potter didn't talk down to me, and just took me along with it on an adventure.
I also remember I was old enough to know I wouldn't get my Hogwarts letter, but young enough to still be disappointed.

escaping really. Isn’t that why we all read them? I love all things magic, wizards and dragons for that reason. Good writing always helps I suppose 😉
