| books!
hee hee~ i love the books more coz they're more complete and when i'm reading the books, i can just let my imagination roam for me... unlike in the movie, the stories change to fit the air time and sometimes, what i expect to happen [that i read from the book] it does not happen xD

I prefer the books, because the films miss out essential elements, however the film brings imagination to the books.

The books. Definitely the books.
The films have cut so much out, all in all, that I feel they're not as good as they should be ... and as a result, the books are much better for me |

I prefer the books. As I read I see in my mind how I think things look. When the films come out, it all looks so different than I imagined and that kind of ruins it for me.

I prefer the books because the movies focus soley on Harry while the books allow us to look in depth at not just him but the other characters and their back stories I love the movies but the books just give you such a deeper look into the characters

I like them both for different reasons.
I like the books because they are what came first and they are more descriptive than the movies, but I like the movies because they bring everything to life and you are able to relate more with the characters.

Both equally...
The books because: J.K.R. was so great at bringing her vision into your mind.
The movies because: The actors they selected fitted their parts so well. It's true that they had to omit parts of the books and take 'poetic license' with other parts to bring the books to the screen but for the most part I believe they did an admirable job.

I'd prefer the books more, because it's detailed and you'll get more important stuff there.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Lily Elizabeth (Lily-Beth) Delwire Fourth Year | As much as I like the films because they have a lot of action in them, I do prefer the books. There is a lot more information and description in the books that the films just are not able to capture or put onto the screen. I'm kind of sad that there aren't more books actually. |

I adore both. The cast in the movie is so great, but you can't beat the books. I'd have to say that they're both equally great. (:

Good question...the books were what I came upon first and what I come back to time and time again. I love the little things that the movies just can't convey (like the monster in Harry's stomach when he sees Dean kissing Ginny |

The books. If the films were stand-alone it would be those, but they just don't compare to the books!

I prefer the books because I can really slip into the atmosphere when I read. I feel that I am a part of the Harry Potter world, every words the characters say feel as though they're spoken from my mouth, every cut they get hurts with a surreal realism, I cry as if what happens to their friends is happening to mine and their happiness becomes my happiness. Even though I LOVE the films, they never had this magical ability of transposing me into the world completely.
And another major reason for my preference for the books is that the films don't follow the books entirely, as they should. Ever since the 5th one they got more and more disappointing. They've cut out too many parts and for others who didn't read the books they don't make sense. But most importantly, for the majority who HAS READ them it's unfair. We expect an exceptional screening of the book, we eagerly wait for the release date to finally see what we've only imagined while reading - and then what? They let us down by skipping IMPORTANT passages from the story.
I really like the films, I would not have had the chance to hear about Emma, Dan, Rupert and the whole amazing cast if they didn't appear. I love to see them act, I admire them so much, but thinking solely on the story, I prefer the books. Simply put, they have all the details - the true story lies within those pages, not in a 2 hour film. And I feel closer to the true story.

The films because I like visually seeing what all of the characters look like and seeing the places and how something happens.

it cut off.. :
The books! OFC THE BOOKS! I always think that the books are better than the films, no matter what film/book it is. It's just more detailed and films that are based on books never have the whole story.. I also think that the HPfilms are better than the books cause i dont think that the films mirror the feeling "" of the books, especially the 5th and the 6th, i don't like those two, they are to teenage-y and dark - they should be more suited for kids!

They're both REALLY good but...books
You can read the thoughts but in a movie you have to go off of facial expressions

As much as I love the movies I preffer the books just because there is so much more detail in them. I have a very vivid imagination so I don't require movies to illustrate the picture for me, although I do enjoy watching them. Also I feel that especially having read the books first the movies always seem to let you down at some point by not incorporating particular aspects of the book. Like in Goblet of Fire, I couldn't wait for it to come out because it was one of the more exciting books. But I was disappointed when there wasn't near as much detail in the movie as there was in the book. e.g. the sphinx with it's riddle in the Maze and all the different spells and enchantments in the maze.

I know this will make me look like an idiot, but I haven't read the books. Still saving up for the boxed set. So since I'm biased, I'll have to go with the movies. It's nice when you can visualize and 'see' what the characters really look like.
