How does this site work? I mean how does the school RPG work? How are we sorted? Can I start as a first year right away or do I have to wait to be sorted? How does this wand quiz work? Where is the wand quiz?

You can find a lot of these answers in the site's school FAQ

To be sorted, you need a minimum of 10 posts in the Platform 9 3/4 or News forums.

Sorting takes place approximately every three months. Sorting opens for all members shortly after the school term comes to an end, and usually lasts about two weeks. When this occurs a news article will be posted in the "Latest Site News" that will announce the start of the sorting. This article will provide you with a direct link to the sorting quiz. Simply answer all the questions in the quiz, submit it, and then sit back and wait as the sorting hat goes to work. When the hat has made it's decision, you will be contacted via a PM with your new house placement!

If you've missed the sorting, don't worry you can always find out when the next sorting will be by checking the School RPG box on our frontpage.

You may start at whatever year you wish, but I personally recommend starting as a first year so that you can grow along with the character and learn the ropes of the RP along with your character.

To take the wand quiz, you need to go to Ollivanders Wand Shop in the Diagon Alley RP and fill out the quiz linked in the shop's information thread. Then, you RP your character coming to the shop for a wand fitting and interact with one of the shopkeepers, Roselyn or Davvy_Wavvy, who have reviewed your quiz and assigned you a wand according to how you answer.

Please keep in mind that NO student characters are allowed in Diagon Alley during the school term, so please WAIT until the current term is up before RPing a student aged character in Diagon Alley

So can I take the wand quiz just for fun? Do you also send a PM to let some one know if they leveled to a higher postion? I guess is what I will call it.

Also I saw a post about uploading a picture but I cant find it. I tried messing around with it in my profile but I cant figure out how to upload a picture. So how can I upload a picture I want to use so I dont have to use the defaults?

Never mind... But I did have a question. How do you guys tell the difference between a really good Role player versus and average to not so good one?

- We would prefer if you didn't. We sort these wand quizzes by hand, and there are a lot of them to go through; especially during the time on SS when Diagon Alley is open to students. Though you are more than welcome to take it if the wand is for your RP character.

- As for higher positions, I'm not quite sure what you're trying to ask. To become a mod/admin, you will be contacted (most likely via PM) by an admin when a current position becomes open if you show mod/staff-worthy behavior. If you're talking about your character in the school RP moving up to the next year (ex: First year to Second year), that is entirely up to you.

To upload a profile picture:

• Up at the top of your page, you should see a blue bar that has User CP, Rules and FAQ, Community, Calendar, and so on.
• Click the User CP.
• On the side in the Your Control Panel, under Your Profile, click 'Edit Profile Picture'.
• From there, provided that your picture meets the SS requirements, you can upload a profile picture for your profile.

- There really is no right or wrong way to RP, and no bad role-player. What I can tell you though, is to try and role-play your character as realistically as possible. Meaning they will have some faults and won't be the best at everything; much like everyone is in the real world. Try not to go for one liners either. They don't give much room for the people you are RPing with to reply to, so adding a little description and detail to your post, whether it be your characters actions or inner thoughts, can go a long way.

Note: Please do not post twice/three times in a row. That is considered as spam and is not allowed on SS. When you do become a full member on the site, which you are now, you'll be able to edit your posts by use of the button.

There are really several reasons for this, but the main one is to make sure that you have read the rules and following them. 10 posts really isn't that much and I believe the numbered used to be more like 50. Suppose you could say that it is also to prove that you are a human

Seeing as you already have your 10 now, it will only be a little longer until the site's server recognizes you and switches you to the member status. Until then, just sit back and relax!

The next sorting for the school will be something on April 12 and will last for a few days Two weeks. A lot happens on the site, there is news updates, role playing, games etc. Oh and be careful how many times you post in a row, more than one is called spamming and is against the rules

Absolutely you can. You can choose what they are, whether witch or wizard, age, male/female, they're look, what they're good at, etc. You won't be able to play them until you become a full member with 10 posts, but yes you can create them.

If you look at the blue bar across the top that starts with "User CP" click on the "Quick Links" there you will get a drop down menu and then click on "edit your details" there you can put in your Roleplayer or charrie as many call it, and their info

You can also edit the information by clicking on your username near the top right, and then go down to "about me tab" if you click on the little pencil next to each word like "biography" or "location" it'll open a box you can type in then just click save before clicking another little pencil.

Deleting posts (soft delete or hard delete) are things that only SS site moderators and admins can do.

Since you are still a Newbie, you cannot edit posts either. Once you have 10 legitimate posts, a snazzy will appear and you will be able to edit your posts. Once you become a member, IF you post in the wrong place again, I suggest that you edit your post with something along the lines of "please delete" and maybe include a reason

For now, just sit back and continue to learn the ropes That is what being a Newbie is all about!

In regards to your second question, and please remember to NOT post two or more times in a row, the sortings are so far apart because there is an actual Hogwarts RPG term in session. We try to keep things as canon as possible, and newly sorted students mid term would be a little odd.

Not to worry about not remembering! There will be a site wide announcement telling you that the sorting is open and exactly where to go to take it. In the meantime, there are a lot of things to do around site and it will be April before you know it!

Since this is RPG related, in future your best bet would be to ask questions like this in the appropriate forum (Depending if its school, ministry or diagon alley related) within the wizarding world ooc section. I can tell you the answer though, go have a look at the Owl Post Office, which is part of Diagon Alley. The information you need is in the sticky threads at the top of the forum.

Hey there

No you can't. Before you can RP in the Ministry, like all RP's the forums on the site, you need to be a full member. Once you are a full member, there is a quiz you need to take to be sorted into the Ministry. The quiz works by you completing it and the mods will use your answers to work out which department in the ministry your character should work in.

The school sorting quiz works the same way. The Ministry Quiz can be found here.

And don't forget to read all MoM Rules before taking the quiz and follow them once you have recieved your Ministry placement.

Eva: The sorting quiz for the school opens on April 12 and closes on May 1st. The ministry sorting will open one week after the school sorting has ended. In the mean time feel free to RP in Diagon Alley but you can only access it when you've become a full member e.g your username has turned cyan and your newbie tag has changed to member.

You will know that you have posted 10 posts by the Post count which is under the username, your newbie tag and your join date ex: Post:
After 10 legitamate posts your username will also turn Cyan but that might take a few minutes to an hour i hope this helps and Welcome to SS!

Yes and no. One thing that all RPers need to keep in mind is the time that the current RP is set in. The three SS RPGS all take place in the future, the current year is 2077, so Harry Potter and that entire cast of characters are either gone or well aged which reminds me of cheese. Besides that, you have free range, although we HIGHLY recommend that you do not use YOUR real name for privacy issues Naming your character can be a lot of fun!

Well..you can't really add members as friends. This isn't facebook. But you can befriend them by interacting. This takes place mainly on posting visitor messages to another member's profile or being pals in the RP. But you can do add members in your contacts which could be found in your User CP.

Pixie: You CAN add members as contacts however. When you go to a member's profile, you can click on a small drop down menu called "User Lists" that is located under their profile picture. From there, you can add them as a contact or add them to your ignore list.
