lol this sorting question is pretty popular, i was about to ask this myself

maybe it would be a good idea to post a sticky on the date for the sorting and all the additional perks (wand choosing et al) that goes with it.

It's on the front page of this website. I have no idea why no one ever sees it there. Perhaps, we should make it more visible here. Thanks for the suggestion!

Graduate from the school? We don't assign years to you. You're allowed to play whatever year student you desire, so we don't notify you. If you mean graduate from newbie to member, the change will be noticeable because your username color will change from brown to turquoise and the title under your name will change to "Member" with a nice little sorting hat beside it. Or, if you mean your rank (the animal name above your avatar), that comes with posts.

Yes, you do! You can vist Diagon Alley a few weeks after the sorting on May the 12th. You can roleplay that you buy the animals, or when hogwarts is open roleplay you already have them.

First off, this is a good example of double posting, something you aren't supposed to do.

The easiest way to send a private message to someone is to find a post from the person you want to send a message to, then click on their screenname. Click on the choice that let's you see their profile, then there will be an option on the right hand side of their profile which reads "send private message". Simply click on that choice and you're all set. (There are other ways to send a private message, as well, but this might be the simplest to start with.)

To change your avatar, simply go to the very top right of your screen and you will see a box which reads "private messages". Click that and you will see a list of choices on the left side, one of them reads "Edit avatar". You can use one of the avatars that is preselected, or you can edit in your own customized one.

Hmm ... you should be able to see them, seeming Newbies are allowed to post in the News section of SS. Maybe try looking at them in the Gallery, because you hsoul dbe able to see them. If they don't load, then it's probably your computer or something that isn't letting you see them.

You can get sorted by attempting the sorting quiz after you have made your first ten legit posts on SS and have become a member.
The sorting quiz is only put up between terms. Tentatively, the next sorting is likely to be held sometime in the first week of May. Till then, after you have made your first 10 posts, there are loads of activities to pursue on the site.
