The books I love being able to using my imagination to picture the scenes JKR has written. I do like the movies, it's nice to see everything brought to life, but they do tend to leave so much out.

definitely the books because they have way more detail and paint a great picture in my head, but the movies are very enjoyable and less time consuming.

I love both the movies and the books, but I definitely love the books more because the books are a world all their own.

I unfortunately haven't had the bright chance of reading the books...although I am waiting for my mother to lend me then so that I CAN read them lol, but I'm a lover of the movies, and own all 5 that are out, and I watch them religiously...all my friends make fun of me for it lol but I cant help it, Ive ALWAYS been interested in the fantasy of magic and a whole other world that's my everyday life...

it's a really really hard question!
but i'm gonna have to say books because they're much more detailed and i enjoy the thrill more bcause they make you wait when you put the book down and thats why you can't put the book down!they've got you hooked!every night you go to bed you have something to think about! thats why re-read and re-read them!

I wouldnt be able to choose, they are both amazing in their own ways...the books are great because you can use your imagination, and themovies are great too because it rings so true with the books, so its just like what you've imagines from what you've read, just amazing!!!

With the books you can make up your own world, but the films are magical.

Books, of course! How can you even compare the magic that JKRowling created with her pen, to what some director did with a camera and few people standing around saying their lines???

By the way, I do like the movies, but I just think it's really offending to the books and JKRowling herself to even try to compare them. As you can probably see, I'm very passionate about this topic!

I love both equally.

The books are amazingly written, they are the only books I have ever re-read. and I've re-read them countless times.

The movies are brilliant too, the scenes themselves, the setting, the atmosphere, the architecture (I'm a bit of a nerd, I love old cathedrally-castley architecture), the music, everything. I love how the movies stay so true to the books, yet have that charm of their own.

Thumbs up What do I prefer?

Hmm.. this is really difficult but i'm pretty sure I prefer both, because when you read the books you kinda wonder "Hmm.. I wonder what the character looks like? and.. "how would that scene work?" & in the films this all adds up.

Also there has been some amazing HP films... so I'd say I like both films & books.

Okay now I have a reason why... I prefer the books because you can imagine it in the way you like and let your imagination run free without having the actors getting in the way.

Books all the way.
The movies are great in their own way (Well except for PoA, in my opinion) but they have to leave out so much and they change things which should not have been changed, eg Ron's line in the S S being given to Hermione.
I HATE Movie Hermione for all the scene hogging and line stealing at the expense of other characters, especially Ron, and in OotP, Ginny.

Definitely the books. I love the movies as well, but the books are so much better. You get so much more detail and more plot than with the movies. The movies cut so much out that sometimes it gets really upsetting.

I like them both. The books are written for children the age of Harry and his friends. They grow with them. And the movies were good because they stayed true to the books. They helped make the charactors alive and real. I cannot wait to see what JKR has up her quill for her next adventure.

I definitely love the books way more than the movies. There is just so much in the books that never makes it into the movies, and also because I am such a bookworm.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the movies, I just prefer reader to t.v.

BOOKS! The movies are really not very good. I also , when i read, picture the sceenes really well, almost like a movie, so the movies do nothing for me. I also can't deal wacthing movies i find them boring >.<

I definitely prefer the books, although I think the movies are generally well done and like them, too. There's just more time to develop things in the books. Rowling can put in all the detail she wants. Time constraints mean that the movies have to leave stuff out. There's just no way to include everything. I will say that the OOTP movie was better than I feared - it's such a long book that I knew they'd have to leave a lot out, but I think they did a good job fitting in as much as they could.

I prefer the books to the movies, anytime. The books have so much more detail and ambiance than the movies could ever show. Youn get minute details and character development that are absent from the movies. As an example, we barely see the Weasley twins in the movies, but the books show us how perfectly mischievious they can be.

When reading, you can almost see yourself there, helping out Harry, screaming encouragements or bawling him out when he goes off the tracks. That's how good a writer JKR really is.

BOTH. The books are amazing, and so are the movie's.
I am a huge Harry potter fan,I read all the books more the once.
Both the movie's and the book's are amazing, but the books explain more and give alot of other details that the movie doesn't have. Also in the movie's the characters just come to life and they play their part so well.It seems really real! so I would say BOTH the movie and the book.

I love the films and the books, but the books better because I feel you would have to read the books first before you see the films. If you didn't read the books first you wouldn't really understand why a lot of things are happening in the films. The books give you so much more detail and fill in the spaces in the films as to why certain things are happening.

I like both the books and the movies, but having read the book makes watching the movies easier - as I can explain things to be husband, who has not read the books, but loves the movies.

I like both the books and the films. Although, I prefer the books, because JK Rowling puts in a lot of detail into them, which the films are unable to add due to time. The films are also great, but they occasionally miss out very important details (Ron Weasley Keeper in HP Order of the Pheonix).
