Hogwarts RPG Name: Chihiro A. Tsukiko Third Year | I prefer the books over the movies. I just get more out of the books that what I do from the films. The films are alright, but the books don't leave anything out and it is much easier to follow. That's how I feel about the books and films. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Kara Wright | I like them both. To tell you the truth if it weren't for the movies I would of never heard of the books. I start reading the books after I saw the first movie. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | Which do you prefer I actually prefer the books.
I think that a book allows you to have your own idea of what the characters looks like and what the locations are.
Also by their nature you can't put eveything that is in a book into a movie.
The movie would be very many hours long !
But I do enjoy seeing the movies as well and I thought the characters were quite close to how I would have imagined them. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | The books are way better then the movies. The movies are okay, I mean they're good movies and all, but if you've read the books the movies just kill it. Whenever I watch one of the movies I can't help but point out every little thing they miss or get wrong. |

| | | I like them both but the books give waaaaayyy more detail about what is really going on and give you and idea what to expect in the next movie. The movies help you see what happens(like the parts you can't imagine well) but the leave out most the story behind the story(like Dobby). | |

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | This is a hard question to answer because both have their own "magic" and equally profound effect on the heart.
I have only just recently entered the world of the Harry Potter books and read Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows after seeing order of the Phoenix last summer.
Unless you read these exquisitely crafted novels, you will never understand what all the fuss is about. I must say that whatever flaws anyone finds with any of the written stories, one thing is for sure....that many others have mentioned already...the books simply have the ability to apparate it's reader right into the middle of the action and into the very midst of Harry's world itself. With each word you breathe and move and laugh and cry and fight and feel right along side Harry and his friends. His world becomes very much your own as the muggle one we live in slowly drops away.
I dont think I've ever felt as physically transported into another time and place with such vividly written characters as I have done in JK Rowling's books. They are simply too much to put into words, if you'll pardon the pun!
That said, the movies take on a completely different amazing quality of their own. There are many special effect fantasy movies out there, but none have ever captured the feeling and believability of true magic occurring within a human world as the Harry Potter movies have.
Aside from the incredible detail and beauty of the sets/shots in each film, its very rare that such an amazing cast of actors would be chosen who fit their literary counterparts as perfectly as I feel Dan, Emma, Rupert, Alan and the others do.
When you are watching the films...and especially Dan Radcliffe...Im completely captivated on how they are the perfect incarnations of Rowling's words. Each one of them lends their uniqueness and dynamic that brings the books so precisely to life. While I do agree that much is left out and lost in the translation, the sweetness of watching this world unfold before my eyes is just overwhelming.
So I guess you could say I'm an equal fan of both |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Jasmine Perfitt First | I love them both, but I read the books first, and enjoy reading more than watching films, so I'm gonna have to go with the books. Also, in the films, I think they got the wrong actor for Lupin... I mean, he was good, but.... it just wasn't right... |

Special Ops | I'm going to have to go with the books because they have all the little details that really make the wizarding world complete and realistic for me. They also give me the freedom to imagine how I think people and places would look like. The main reason I like the movies is that I can check and compare how I imagined things in my head to how they apperar in the movies. For instance, in my head I imagined Hogwarts differently, but the movies helped to open up my mind and expand it to how JK pictured it. The movies, though, lack some of the extra little sub plots. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | The books because they feel complete in a way none of the films has yet been able to achieve. But then again, I almost always prefer the books. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Josie Harris First Year | That is a hard question! Books and movies appeal to different senses and feelings, so I always find it weird to compare it to, but I guess I love the 'anytime, anywhere,' feeling of books. XD |

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | The books are why I see the movies. :-)
Without the books I don't think my interest in HP would be sufficient enough to watch the movies. Now, having said that -- I do *enjoy* the movies -- and I enjoy them as much as I do because I love the books. My love of the books feeds my interest in the movies -- but the books definitely come first. |

Hogwarts RPG Name: unsorted | I like them both equally. The books are so much more descriptive and alive. But it's fun to kick back and watch a HP movie over too, plus you have to love all the cuties in the movies! |
