The books most definitely. They are the original source of the Harry Potter world. They go into so much more detail than a movie could possibly go. Also, we get much more complex characters and a larger amoutn of discussion about these characters and their motives etc. And I just prefer my own imagined Hogwarts, Harry, Ron and Hermione etc.

The books because I think that if you imagine the people from the books you get a bigger experience when you read.

I prefere the films, because i find the books hard to read.
Im 14, but i have difficulty reading, so the films are easier for me to follow and understand. Im sure the books are good though.

Again, hard to say.

If anyone was to ever ask me if they should bother reading the books.. i would say absolutely!
It is more important to have read them beforehand though. I have felt that you recognise so many more things and you can understand why they have included particular scenes.

I'm also usually quite shocked to hear that they didn't enjoy either.
My mind can't comprehend that!

I prefer the books. Maybe it's because the books are almost always better than the films, but in this case, the books are the true essence of the world, and they drag me into the whole history.

Definitely the books. They go into detail and without the books there wouldnt even be any films! =P
I think that the films are more about making money.

I prefer the books because a lot of detail is left out of the movies.

Ravenclaw Books!

The books have more detail. I don't see why you would choose the movie, they screw too many things up.

The movies are good, but I prefer the films, because they force you to create your own world in your mind. it's more fun for me that way.

I perfer them both in different ways.
The books were so detailed and they gave us all the information. They made the world of magic and mystery into a real world and they started it all.
The movies were ok. Some were better than others. They did help translate some things in my mind better. It sometimes helped to have a visual aid.

I...like the books better. They leave a LOT more to the imagination as opposed to seeing it visually. Besides...the movies as their own entities aren't THAT great.

rules!

I like the books better, but I never get to finish them.
I'm usually to busy.
But I make an effort to see the movies to make up for it.

Both of them are good, but the books are better because they give more detail.

That's really hard. I love the books, but love the movies too. One thing though is that I don't like some movies that I loved the books, and some books that I didn't like as much I love the movies.

I love the books because they go into so much detail and you know whats happening around you, where as in the movie its just scene after scene. Before i read the books and i watched the first 2 movies i really didnt know much of what was going on. (I'm not a very observant person) I like watching the movies because it brings the characters to life and what not. (and Matthew Lewis and James and Oliver Phelps are gods...but thats beside the point)

I like both the books and the movies, however, I would have to say that I prefer the books by far. I think that if the books did not exist, I would enjoy the movies a lot more. Unfortunatly, I am constantly comparing the movies to the books, and of course, they don't live up, which makes me enjoy them less.

I like the books better because there is more depth to them. There's little things that are described that would be inpossible to show adequatly. Plus, books let you see things the way you want... not how a director sees them. Movies are too limited by everything having to be visual and also by time.
