Only if you love me.
"I'm not going to sleep," she told herself repetitively. "I won't!" For a time it worked, but after a while it sounded soothing, and she fell asleep.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaa!" It happened again, her nightmare, her love, Harry James Potter being killing by Lord Voldemort.
"Parvati!" said her roommates, in unison. "What's wrong?"
Parvati looked from Lavender to Hermione. If she told Hermione, Hermione would tell Harry. If Lavender, the gossiper, knew, she would spread it around.
"Just a bad dream."
"Ok," they said uncertainly.
"Night."
"Night," said Parvati, this time pinching herself awake.

They had a D.A. meeting the next day. Parvati waited for Padma by the Great Hall to come. She was thinking whither or not she should tell her about the dreams. Dumb idea, she thought. Padma's voice rang sub conscientiously, "Parvati, you're spending too much time with that Lovegood girl. That's not good for you. You can bet that if Mum and/or Dad ever found out—"
"Hey, Parvati," said Padma.
"Hey, let's go."
"Fine."
They walked for some time, but then Padma realized that she left some of her homework in the Great Hall, and went back to get it.
"Hi, Parvati," said a voice she'd crave to hear, Harry's."Why are you by yourself?"
"Well, I was waiting for Padma but . . ."
"Let's go. Don't want to be late, do we?" he winked at her.
They walked side by side to D.A. and they talked about stuff.
She was walking/talking with the one she loved; she was floating on air; she sighed.
"What?"
"What what?" she said snapping back to reality.
"You sighed," he paused, "a very sad sigh, a sigh that would make one wonder why you sighed."
She wrinkled her eyebrows gave him wondering look. "What the heck?"
Harry burst out laughing. "Just what I was thinking too," he said after he calmed down a bit.
"Ha-ha very funny," her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Come on, Parvati, I was joking."
"And I was sighing because I'm floating on air," she hoped it came out sarcastically.
"Sorry, I made you fall back to earth."
They made a turn and Harry headed into D.A. headquarters.
"Sorry you made me fall back to earth for you," she said softly. "Can you be sorry?"
"Coming?"
"Coming," she walked in and realized that she and Harry were the last ones there, even Padma was there.
"Why did you—" started Parvati.
"Harry."
"Thank you."
Padma nodded a "welcome".
They had a productive meeting, and when Harry blew the whistle, Parvati wished they had more time.
"That was great everyone, see you next meeting," and with that, people filed out, two to four at a time. Out they went till there were only Ron, Hermione, Harry, Cho and Parvati left.
"You go ahead," said Harry. "Cho, can I talk to you?"
"Ok, mate," said Ron. "Come on."
Parvati could feel her blood boil. "Cho, can I talk to you?" played in her head till drove her nuts!
"I need to get something from the library," she told Hermione and Ron after getting half way to the common room.
"Ok, see you in the common room," they said.
She ran back to headquarters. As she turned, she bumped into Harry.
"Hi," she said breathless.
"Hi, yourself," he said. "What's up?"
"Er . . . just going to the library, I—" before she could continue, she saw Cho leave headquarters. She felt cold all over.
"I—left—my—my—I got to—" she set off for a run, but collapsed onto the floor.
All was black, but she saw Voldemort, now clearer than in her dreams, standing in front of her.
"Tomorrow night," said someone, Lusius Malfoy.
"Yes," said Voldemort's icy voice. "Tomorrow night Potter will die; nothing can stop me. Nothing."
"Master, do you think—"
"I have thought of every way. There is only one way for him to be pardoned."
"Yes, for one of his friends to take his place."
"Correct! Since no one knows this, he's going die."
Cackling of the two voices and then, "Parvati! Parvati!"
"What?" she stirred. Harry was in front of her with a worried look on his face.
"You passed out. Are you ok? Do you need to go to the hospital wing? Do—"
"NO!" he looked startled. Thinking fast she said, "I—I didn't eat much at dinner, so I guess that's why."
"Are you sure you are ok?" he said, uncertain of letting her go.
"Course, would I lie to you?"
"I wouldn't know, don't know you that well to tell."
"That hurts, Harry; I thought that you were one of my friends."
"Kidding!"
"You better be. I need to—to go get my work."
"Ok, see you later."
"I don't think that you will, Harry." She knew what she had to do, she needed to go find Voldemort and make him agree to kill her rather than Harry.
Where are they? She thought. Malfoy!
She got her broomstick, swung her leg over it, went into the air, and headed toward Malfoy Manner.
Draco said something about his house when they were younger. Teasing her, but she remembered what he had said about the location. "I could come to school by broom. North of this dump."
She thought of what to say to Voldemort, but before she could do that she saw a huge house, knowing she had reached her destination, stopped at the door.
Before she could do anything hands pulled her into the house and tied her up.
"Master, she's here," said Crabbe, and he dragged her into a room.
He pushed Parvati in a chair that was adjacent to Voldemort's and left.
"Miss Patil, just who I wanted to meet."
"Kill me instead of Harry!" she cried. Well, there goes all preamble.
"Oh, my dear girl, that can not be. You see, you're bait for Harry, first I didn't think that you would response to nightmares, but I knew that a faint in front of him would do it. Now," he stood up, "I have send him a note which states that his friend—" that cut Parvati to the core, "—is in trouble and he'll come."
"He won't do that! He's not dumb enough to fall for that," she said, willing it true.
"Wrong," he sounded like a teacher, "as a matter of fact he is on his way here as we speak."
"How would you know?"
"Because," he said silkily. "He's at the door."
"NNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"
"Take her to the dungeon."
Two people came up behind her, grabbed her chair, and took her to a dungeon.

Why did I do this? It was so stupid of me!!!! she thought.
After she was tied up for about five hours Draco came in. "Well, if it isn't Patil and here I thought that you were too dumb to find my house. Do you like it? It is a pity that you can't have a proper tour."
Parvati felt totally deflated, but knew she shouldn't act like it, "Yes, a pity I—" there was a yell, and Parvati knew it was Harry. "What are they doing to him?" hoping she sounded as though she didn't care.
Draco smirked, "You'd like to know, wouldn't you? They're killing him."
"WHAT?!??!?!?"
"Yeah, that's they whole point of getting you here, didn't you know?" Before she could answer someone called for Draco and he left Parvati to herself.
Nothing happened for ten hours, she could hear shouting, but then, there was silence. She could feel her insides turn into lead. They had killed Harry. How else could there be silence? Then, the dungeon doors opened.
"You're right," she said crying, what difference would it make if Harry was dead now? "They only got to him because of me. Right, how dumb was I? Letting myself get carried way because of someone I loved."
"'Someone you loved?'" repeated a voice she knew all to well.
"Harry?"
He stepped out of the shadows.
"I—how—you?"
"The Order came," he said as he took the chains off of her. "What did you said?"
This time, Parvati had no fear of what he would say; she knew in her heart if she didn't tell him, one day it might be too late.
"I love you."
"Really?" he raised his eyebrows.
"No, I would have hung in a dungeon for anyone? Nah, would've done it for an anybody."
"What I want to do to you, I haven't done to anybody," he said slipping his arms around her waist.
"Oh, yeah, what's that?" she asked as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I want to kiss you, if you'll let me."
She looked into his emerald eyes, "Only if you love me."
