“Mommy, wake up! I made you breakfast.” Said a young girl of about six turning seven. She had bright red flowing hair, and slightly visible freckles scattered around her face. She skipped into her mother’s room holding a tray filled with breakfast. Her mother woke up, rubbing her eyes and stretching looking at her jubilant daughter through tired eyes. “Good morning, mommy.” She said sweetly, kissing her mom on the cheek.

“Good morning, Lily. What’s all this, love?” She asked Lily.

“Breakfast in bed. Don’t you like it?” Lily asked her.

“I love it. Thank you so much.” She said brightly. “But who helped you with this?” She questioned Lily.

“James and Albus. But I woke them up early so they fell asleep again. I want your birthday to be perfect!” She said.

“Lily, you didn’t have to get me anything.” Her mother said.

Lily smiled mischievously. “Too late.” She said in a sing-song voice. “But you’ll have to wait for later.” Then she leaned in and whispered in her mother’s ears. “It’s a secret.”

“Can I get a sneak peak? PLEASE?” She said, pouting.

Lily laughed. “No Mommy, you have to wait. But I promise, you’ll love it.”

Then Albus and James walked in, with a tired smile, wishing their mom a happy birthday. James wanted to talk with Ginny alone, so they were all to leave the room. James put on a serious face, sitting besides Ginny.

“Mom, I really think you should tell her.” James said.

Ginny looked confused. “Tell who what?”

“I think you should tell Lily about Dad."

“What’s wrong with him?”

“I don’t think dad’s okay. It’s been a while since he was supposed to come back.” He said.

“Your father’s fine, James. He’s just staying a little while longer. He‘ll be home soon.” She told him reassuringly, though she had a hard time believing it herself.

“You also said that last month. When will you stop denying it, Mom?” He said, unconvinced and adamant.

“I’m not denying anything. You need to stop denying me. This conversation is over. Go downstairs, I’ll be there in a minute.” She told him firmly. Her tone told him to do as she says, and followed her orders. Meanwhile, Ginny lay there and let the tears fall. She didn’t want to believe James, she didn’t want to believe anyone. She tried to stay adamant in her thoughts, which swayed slightly.

“Harry will be home.” She told herself. “And we’ll be one happy family again.” Taking in a deep breath, she opened the door and went to whatever awaited her downstairs.

heya...aw...that was nice...in the beiginning i thought it was about Lily Evans and then when James and Albus came into picture i was like cool...hey what's up with Ginny and Harry?oh please tell us...post soon...

Oooo I like the beginning. I've always pictured Lily the way you painted her, the type of girl who's cute and loves being helpful. What's happened to Harry though? Please post!!

Ginny slowly walked down the stairs, savoring the smell of pancakes and fresh eggs and bacon, taking in the laughs of her kids. She looked at the caramel walls, slightly covered with picture frames. Each picture contained brightened eyes, people hugging each other, laughing with wide smiles, and glowing faces. She found a lump in her throat when she saw the picture of Harry sneaking up behind her and handing her a box wrapped in red wrapping paper and golden ribbons. As she got closer, she heard more than 3 voices laughing. Now quickening her pace she made it downstairs and went to her the kitchen. Suddenly it got quiet and Ginny slowly opened the door.

“Surprise!” Yelled a whole lot of people, beaming at her stunned face. Ginny put her hand on her chest, gasping a little but regaining her composure.

“Geesh! Are you trying to give me a heart attack? I’ll come back and haunt you all if that ever happens!” She said, smiling. Ron laughed and walked over and gave a kiss on the cheek, handing her a present.

“Happy birthday, Ginny! And lighten up, will you? We scared you pretty well, didn’t we?” But when he saw the look she gave him he quickly added “this was all Fred’s idea.” Lily ran up and hugged Ginny tightly.

“Just a few more hours, Mommy!” She said. “It’ll be a surprise for everybody!” She was practically bouncing off the walls. Ginny smiled at her daughter but then quickly dragged Ron into a corner where no one could hear her.

“Do you know what she’s talking about?” She asked Ron. He shook his head in defeat.

“I tried to play games that might make her spill, but she won’t budge. All I’ve got is useless hints.” He told her.

“Like what? What did she say?” Ginny asked him anxiously.

He quoted her rhyme.

“Friend of us all
Eyes the color of spring
Bravery defined
Letting thy freedom ring
Loyalty soars
Beyond words and threats
You won’t crack this poem
Because I always win bets”

Ron made a face after reciting her poem, still trying to figure it out. Ginny as well seemed confused. As she asked Ron what does he think it means, but all Ron said was, “ I don’t know. I can’t believe she made a bet saying that I wouldn’t be able to figure it out! I’ll show her.” they heard a high-pitched giggle coming from the kitchen, confirming their defeats. Ginny, however, wouldn’t smile.

“I haven’t told her about Harry. James knows too.” She said, biting her lower lip. Any smile Ron might’ve been wearing quickly faded.

“You have to tell her Harry’s not going to come back. We got letters from neo death eaters. He’s done for.” Ron said regretfully. Ginny shook her head.

“No. I refuse to believe that. Remember this necklace he gave me?” She was wearing a gold necklace, with a heart on it glowing with crimson rubies. She put her hand on it, savoring the warmth. Ron shook nodded.

“What about it?” He asked her.

“That picture, where he had a red box with golden ribbons. It was this necklace. He realized how worried I got when he was away, so he bought me this.” She closed her eyes, trying to remember his exact words, and repeated them. “‘When you feel this warmth, don’t lose hope. I’ll always be with you. The warmer it gets, I’ll be near, no matter how far you think I am.’” She said “This is the only thing that makes me sure he still has a chance.” Meanwhile, Lily ran up into her room, and dipped her quill into a bottle of ink. She dropped her ink-filled quill when she saw an owl at her window. Wasting no time, she opened the window, and let the owl in. She opened the parchment, breathing quick. She read to herself.

My Dear Lily,
Not to worry about me. You should just continue on,
and be a good girl. I’m very sorry, but I cannot come.
Do not be disappointed nor discouraged.
We will see each other again.

and the way Ron said that, Harry was his best friend, Ron wouldn't just tell his sister his best mate 'is done for' ,regrefully! ' O ris he gettingletters from Harry too? but then why would he be telling Ginny to lose all hope? You have done a good job in confusing me, especially in the last chapter where Harry wrote to Lily, if he is being tortured or something by 'death eaters' how is he sending owls?
Sorry if that's a lot of questions, and if you think I'm critizing too much, it's because I don't know how to tell you tha your story is great, I just look at the things I don't uderstand first.

It's ok luv, I know it's confusing. Questions will be answered in later chapters. But just to answer a few of yours.... some things that happened in the books I chose to leave out, because I love JK but I just couldn't stand Fred gone ( he was my favorite...i was soo sad). So in my story he's technically still alive. And about Ron, let's just say he isn't "himself".....I wonder if that confused you more. But good for catching that. You're right, the regular Ron wouldn't just let Harry be tortured for any reason and say "he's done for". I'm VERY sorry for the big confusion. Hopefully you'll get it in later chapters...lol Take care <3
